Fairness in income distribution is a factor that both motivates employees and contributes to maintaining social stability. In Vietnam, fair income distribution has been studied from various perspectives. In this article, through the analysis and synthesis of related documents and evidence, and from the perspective of economic philosophy, the author applies John Rawls’s Theory of Justice as Fairness to analyze some issues arising from the implementation of the state’s role in ensuring fair income distribution from 1986 to present. These are unifying the perception of fairness in income distribution; solving the relationship between economic efficiency and social equality; ensuring benefits for the least-privileged people in society; and controlling income. On that basis, the author makes some recommendations to enhance the state’s role in ensuring fair income distribution in Vietnam. An essential part of grinding technology is the conditioning process for the generation of the grinding wheel shape and of a sharp topography. Through the sharpening process the required cutting grains are exposed from the bond and sufficient chip space is ensured by putting back the bonding. A CNC-controlled sharpening process can lead to an improvement in process reliability and the economic efficiency. Extensive experimental investigations were carried out to determine the relationship between the sharpening parameters and the sharpening result.

This study examines the relationship between motor carrier productivity, marketing strategy, and use of information technology for a sample of U.S. general freight commodity carriers. We use a unique data set containing information on firm marketing strategy and information technology use collected in a survey of Class I and II motor carrier firms (U.S. Department of Transportation, 1999). The measure of productivity used here is the non-parametric Malmquist Index as explained in Grosskopf (1993) and previously applied to general freight motor carriers by McMullen and Okuyama (2000). The Malmquist Index is decomposed into two components: economic efficiency change (EC) and technical efficiency change (TC). A tobit model regression model is used to examine the relationship between firm productivity, marketing strategy, and use of information technology. Information technologies included in the tobit analysis are electronic data interchange (EDI) and satellite communications (SATCOM). We also include firm size, use of owner-operators, and percent unionization as explanatory variables in the tobit regression. Results indicate that use of EDI has a positive and significant impact on economic efficiency (EC). Firms that try to market their product by providing service at the "lowest freight rate" are found to exhibit greater technical efficiency (TC), suggesting that productivity and cost measures that ignore marketing strategy may be biased. Finally, economic efficiency (EC) is found to be significantly greater for firms that are more heavily unionized.

The article revolves around the doctrine of precedent within the so-called European legal space, wondering whether and to what extent we can speak of a convergence towards a stare decisis model boosted by the harmonizing role of the Court of Justice of the European Union. The article argues that although there are still some differences between civil law and common law legal systems they regard more the style of reasoning and the deep understanding of the relationship between the present decision of a court and past judicial decisions than the very existence of the constraints of the latter upon the former. The article concludes that a sort of mechanism of stare decisis has in fact been created, even though, on the one hand, uncertainty remains as to the way in which the binding force of a precedent concretely operates in the system, and on the other hand, this mechanism relates exclusively to the relationships between past and future decisions of higher courts (horizontal effect). This change, far from being a shift towards a truly judge-made law system or a consequence of the final abandonment of the dictates of the rule of law, enhances legal certainty contributing to the fundamental requirement of stability of law as a feature of the ideal of the rule of law.

This article explores the relationship between financial sector development and economic growth, using a sample of ASEAN-5 countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines) from 1980 to 2011. More specifically, this study investigates whether higher levels of financial development (FD) are significantly and robustly correlated with faster current and future rates of economic growth, physical capital accumulation and economic efficiency improvements. Findings of this study revealed that FD has a significant positive effect on economic growth. However, the estimated models show that the influence of FD, as a determinant for economic growth of ASEAN-5 countries, is less than that of domestic investment and export.

Since 2005, expenditures on research, development and technological work (R & D) have been allocated in the structure of investments in non-financial assets. The absence of methodological developments on a comprehensive analysis of indicators of environmental and economic efficiency does not allow us to clearly determine the real costs of creating a system of rational nature use and environmental protection. In order to, at least approximately estimate the necessary level of investment in the restoration of the environment, it is necessary to conduct a study of the relationship between investment and environmental activities through the interrelationship between the concepts of "investment" and "capital investments".

Indonesia in the aftermath of Reformation, the relationship between powers of central and local governments has shifted the paradigm in which the power of central government has been transferred from centralized-authoritarian to decentralized-autonomy. One of decentralized powers of local government is by providing the power to self-regulate without certain interventions from central government, including the initiative to establish bylaws (Peraturan Daerah) as the results of local autonomy.  In further development of autonomy, however, the wider decentralization and autonomy attached to local governments has been responded differently. One of such responses is the establishment of sharia bylaws in which they result in problems in the Indonesian constitutional law system. From constitutional views, bylaws in local governments other than Aceh province violate citizen’s constitutional rights by which those are not accomodated in the hierarcy of national regulations. On the other hand, however, the establishment of sharia bylaw is important as an attempt to nurture social morality. Accordingly, there should not be abandonment regarding the establishment of sharia bylaws in several local governments other than Aceh province. But, the reaffirmation is needed relating to the position of sharia bylaws in the constitutional perspective which is not only seen formally, but also materially. Keywords: Post-Reformation, Decentralization, Shari’a Bylaws, Constitutional Law

Currently, companies are searching for ways to develop and ensure competitiveness in the market and are increasingly resorting to the introduction of technological innovations, using the methodology of project management. The article investigates such current approaches to project management as flexible, lean, sustainable and elastic project management. The concept of technological innovations is defined. The situation on the introduction of technological innovations in Russia and in foreign countries is analysed. The indicators for assessing the economic efficiency of the introduction of technological innovations are determined. The relationship between the use of these approaches to project management and increasing the economic effect of the introduction of technological innovations is revealed.
