Abstract This paper aims to investigate the entropy generation in slip flow due to double rotating disks. Heat equation is formulated by considering effects of viscous dissipation, Joule heating and nonlinear thermal radiation. Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects of nanofluid are also discussed. Applied magnetic field is considered to be time dependent. Homogeneous–heterogeneous reactions are also studied. Von Karman transformations are used. Homotopy analysis method is implemented on system of equations for convergent series solutions. Influence of various flow parameters on entropy, Bejan number, velocity, temperature, Nusselt number, and skin friction is discussed through graphs and tables. Axial velocity decays for higher nonlinear mixed convection variable of temperature and velocity slip parameter. Temperature rises for larger thermal slip parameter and thermophoresis parameter. Entropy and Bejan number are increasing for higher estimation of homogeneous reaction parameter and diffusion parameters.

Here magnetohydrodynamics Darcy–Forchheimer second order velocity slip flow of nanomaterials is discussed between two stretchable surfaces of rotating disks, where the both disks are rotating with altered angular frequencies and rates. Flow in permeable medium is designated by implementing Darcy–Forchheimer relation. The energy expression is discussed and modeled subject to various effects like dissipation, Ohmic heating (Joule heating), and heat source/sink. Two different types of nanoparticles, i.e. graphene oxide (GO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2), are utilized and H2O as a base fluid. Total entropy rate which depends on five different types of irreversibilities (i.e., heat, mass fluid friction, Ohmic heating and Darcy–Forchheimer or porosity) is calculated via thermodynamics law (second). Furthermore, binary chemical reaction is accounted for the analysis of mass with activation energy. Numerical solutions are found out with the help of shooting method. Behaviors of flow variables on the skin friction coefficients, velocity field, Nusselt numbers, temperature distribution, entropy generation, concentration, and Bejan number are plotted graphically and discussed. The results are compared with previous literature and found good agreement with them. Our obtained results illustrate that the entropy rate is more subject to rising Brinkman number.

The present study explores the slip flow and heat transfer induced by a radially surface with MHD Carreau nanofluid. In addition, the effects of temperature jump, non-linear radiation and the dependent zero mass flux also taken into account. This study also considers the cross-diffusion effect on temperature and concentration governing profiles. Appropriate transformations are engaged in order to acquire nonlinear differential equations (ODEs) from the partial differential system, their solutions are obtained by Runge-Kutta 4th order with shooting scheme in MATLAB. The impact of pertinent flow parameters such as first and second order velocity slip parameter, temperature jump, magnetic parameter, heat source, radiation parameter, melting surface parameter, temperature ratio parameter on dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration profiles achieved graphically as well as local skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are demonstrated in the form of Table. first order velocity slip parameter (slip1) on f′, Θ and Φ profile fields. With an increment in the velocity slip first order parameter (slip1) we have perceived a fall in the momentum boundary layer and concentration profiles and a growth in the fluid temperature field.

This paper investigates the boundary layer analysis for magnetohydrodynamic partial slip flow and heat transfer of nanofluids through porous media over a stretching sheet with convective boundary condition. Four types of nanoparticles, namely copper, alumina, copper oxide and titanium oxide in the ethylene glycol (50%, i.e., Pr = 29.86) and water (i.e., Pr = 6.58) based fluids are studied. The governing highly nonlinear and coupled partial differential equations are solved numerically using fourth order Runge-Kutta method with shooting techniques. The velocity and temperature profiles are obtained and utilized to compute the skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number for different values of the governing parameters viz. nanoparticle volume fraction parameter, magnetic field parameter, porosity parameter, velocity slip parameter and convective parameter. It is found that the velocity distribution of the nanofluids is a decreasing function of the magnetic parameter, porosity parameter, and velocity slip parameter. However, temperature of the nanofluids is an increasing function of magnetic field parameter, nanoparticle volume fraction parameter, porosity parameter, velocity slip parameter and convective parameter. The flow and heat transfer characteristics of the four nanofluids are compared. Moreover, comparison of the numerical results is made with previously published works for special cases and an excellent agreement is found.  Keywords: Magnetohydrodynamics, Partial Slip, Porous medium, Convective boundary, Nanofluid.

Here our purpose is to explore the entropy generation in nanofluid MHD flow by curved stretching sheet; second-order slip is considered. Additional effects of viscous dissipation, Joule heating, and activation energy are taken. Temperature and concentration boundary conditions are considered convectively. For convergence of series solution NDSolve MATHEMATICA is used. Velocity, Bejan number, concentration, temperature, and entropy generation graphs are sketched for important parameters. For greater estimations of first- and second-order velocity slip parameters fluid velocity reduces. The thermal and solutal Biot numbers enhance the temperature and concentration, respectively. The concentration also has direct relation with activation energy. Entropy generation reduces for chemical reaction parameter and first- and second-order slip parameters.

This investigation is about hybrid nanofluid flowing over a sheet. We considered two-dimensional Darcy–Forchheimer flow of different hybrid nanofluids with the influence of uniform heat source sink and nonlinear thermal radiation. Different nanoparticles can be used to improve the thermal conductivity of a liquid. A study comparing the various hybrid nanofluids to nanofluid is considered. Here, we have selected manganese Zinc ferrite and Nickel Zinc ferrite as nanoparticles with kerosene oil and engine oil as carrier liquids. Suitable similarity transformations are used to construct the required ordinary differential equations. The influence of several non-dimensional parameters on velocity and thermal gradients is analyzed through graphs. Also, entropy generation is computed and analyzed through graph for different involved parameters. Here, we observed that [Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] had lower velocity when compared to other two solutions. The entropy generation and Bejan number are high in [Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] when compared to [Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] and increase in heat generation parameter increases the rate of heat transfer.

Nanofluid slip flow with distinct solid particles past a wedge with convective surface and high order slip is discussed in this paper. The wedge model is modified by considering the effects of Brownian motion and thermophphoresis together with the high order velocity slip and temperature jump. In this study, the governing fundamental equations are first transformed into third-order ordinary differential equations and solved by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Through error analysis and comparison with previous research, the effectiveness of HAM is ascertained, and the crucial influence of nanoparticles and high-order slip on the fluid skin-friction coefficient and heat transfer coefficient is analyed. Thermophphoresis parameter and suction/injection parameter are found to cause an increase in velocity and temperature. The rate of heat transfer in the Cu–water nanofluid is found to be higher than the others.

The current research explores the injection of a viscous fluid through a moving flat plate with a transverse uniform magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) flow field to reduce sliding drag. Two cases of velocity slip between the slider and the ground are studied: a long slider and a circular slider. Solving the porous slider problem is applicable to fluid-cushioned porous sliders, which are useful in reducing the frictional resistance of moving bodies. By using a similarity transformation, three dimensional Navier–Stokes equations are converted into coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The resulting nonlinear boundary value problem was solved analytically using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The HAM provided a fast convergent series solution, showing that this method is efficient, accurate, and has many advantages over the other existing methods. Solutions were obtained for the different values of Reynolds numbers (R), velocity slip, and magnetic fields. It was found that surface slip and Reynolds number had substantial influence on the lift and drag of the long and the circular sliders. Moreover, the effects of the applied magnetic field on the velocity components, load-carrying capacity, and friction force are discussed in detail with the aid of graphs and tables.

Mathematical modeling to study the effect of nonlinear thermal radiation on Casson nanofluid flow between parallel plates is established. Second order velocity slip condition is implemented at the boundary of the lower plate. An appropriate transformation is applied to alter the PDEs into ODEs and then tackled numerically by employing RKF-45. The consequence of several prevailed parameters on the Casson nanoliquid velocity components, temperature and concentration fields are portrayed graphically and deliberated in detail. Velocity component decreases near the region of lower plate while it increases along the upper plate region for magnetic and slip parameter whereas opposite behavior is obtained for the Casson parameter for the same component.

The report contained in this article is based on entropy generation for a reactive Eyring–Powell nanoliquid transfer past a porous vertical Riga device. In the developed model, the impacts of viscous dissipation, thermophoresis alongside nonlinear heat radiation and varying heat conductivity are modelled into the heat equation. The dimensionless transport equations are analytically tackled via Homotopy analysis method while the computational values of chosen parameters are compared with the Galerkin weighted residual method. Graphical information of the various parameters that emerged from the model are obtained and deliberated effectively. The consequences of this study are that the temperature field expands with thermophoresis, Brownian motion and temperature ratio parameters as the modified Hartmann number compels a rise in the velocity profile. The entropy generation rises with an uplift in fluid material term as well as Biot and Eckert numbers whereas Bejan number lessens with Darcy and Eckert parameters.
