ABSTRACT Draft genomes of seven extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli strains recovered from New Zealand waterways are described. The mean genome size was 5.1 Mb, with 4,724 coding sequences. All genomes contained the ESBL gene blaCTX-M, and one carried a plasmid-mediated AmpC gene, blaCMY-2. A multidrug-resistant genotype was detected in three isolates.

ABSTRACT Here, we present the draft genome sequences of nine multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli strains isolated from humans (n = 6) and chicken carcasses (n = 3) from Lagos, Nigeria, in 2013. Multiple extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) genes were identified in these isolates.

We present the genome sequences of two carbapenemase-producing sequence type 405 Escherichia coli clinical isolates, strains Marseille-Q1950 and Marseille-Q1951. The isolates were obtained 1 month apart during the patient’s hospitalization in Lebanon, in May (Marseille-Q1950) and June (Marseille-Q1951) 2019. The genome sizes of strains Marseille-Q1950 and Marseille-Q1951 were 5,181,515 bp and 5,213,451 bp, respectively.

ABSTRACTHere, we present the full sequences of threemcr-1-carrying plasmids isolated from extended-spectrum-β-lactamase (ESBL)-producingEscherichia coli. The plasmids belong to three different replicon types and are 34,640 bp, 209,401 bp, and 247,885 bp in size. We describe for the first time a composite transposon containingmcr-1localized on a multidrug-resistant (MDR) IncHI2 plasmid harboring additional determinants of resistance to six different classes of antibiotics, including the ESBL geneblaCTX-M-1, and heavy metal resistance.

ABSTRACT Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli serotype O157:H7 is a major cause of foodborne outbreaks and hemolytic-uremic syndrome. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of three antibiotic-resistant E. coli O157:H7 strains isolated from feedlot cattle. These draft genome sequences will aid in the development of sequence-based tools for the detection of virulence and antimicrobial resistance genotypes.

ABSTRACT Resistance to colistin, a last-resort antibiotic, threatens the treatment of complicated infections, especially in susceptible populations such as Syrian refugees who live in makeshift camps. Two multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli strains with the plasmid-borne colistin resistance gene (mcr-1.1) were isolated from the waters used by refugees and sequenced to analyze antibiotic resistance determinants.

Draft genomes of two strains of Escherichia coli, FP2 and FP3, isolated from the feces of the Canada goose (Branta canadensis), were sequenced. Genome sizes were 5.26 Mb with a predicted G+C content of 50.54% (FP2) and 5.07 Mb with a predicted G+C content of 50.41% (FP3).

ABSTRACT Enterobacter cloacae is a common member of the gut microbiota in healthy individuals. However, it is also an opportunistic pathogen, capable of causing bacteremia. We report the draft genomes of two Enterobacter cloacae subspecies cloacae strains isolated from hematology patients with bacteremia. Both isolates carry genes encoding extended-spectrum β-lactamases.

ABSTRACT Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) is a globally emergent multidrug-resistant pathogen of dogs associated with nosocomial transmission in dogs and with potential zoonotic impacts. Here, we report the draft whole-genome sequences of 12 hospital-associated MRSP strains and their resistance genotypes and phenotypes.
