Our work aims at contributing to research on entrepreneurship pedagogy by designing and testing a skills framework to evaluate the outcomes of pedagogical programs in entrepreneurship. A literature review was conducted to clarify the concept of skills. The first part of this article describes the components of the 17 main entrepreneurial skills identified in the literature (both transversal and specific to entrepreneurship). A post hoc experimental plan was chosen so that the results may be replicated. Data were collected online among business students and 444 completed forms were returned. The survey instrument was tested empirically by comparing the experimental group (265 participants of an entrepreneurship seminar) with the control group (179 non-participants). Results show the value of using a complete evaluation grid when evaluating a pedagogical program in entrepreneurship. Indeed, many transversal skills may evolve positively, not just the skills that are specific to entrepreneurship.

The Women Entrepreneurship Programme (WEP) was developed after a need had been identifiedfor such a training intervention. The WEP provides entrepreneurial and business management training to women entrepreneurs. This empirical paper measures the effectiveness of the WEP after the respondents had been through the training intervention. The sample consists of 180 women entrepreneurs, where 116 respondents form the experimental group and 64 respondents the control group. Factor analysis is presented and several statistical tests executed to present the statistically significant differences between the two groups in the sample. The findings highlight the WEP delegates’ acquisition of new entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. Furthermore, the respondents reported an increase in the number of employees, turnover, productivity and profit. It was statistically proven that the WEP is effective in training potential, start-up and established women entrepreneurs in South Africa.

Some college students find themselves failing required courses. These course failures were a problem at a regional south-central United States (U.S.) university where many students were failing a required Financial Accounting course. Barriers to enrolling in the Financial Accounting course only included a sophomore standing, so it was possible for students with non-existent or limited accounting knowledge to enroll. To reduce the number of student failures in the Financial Accounting course administrators created numerous help programs including an Introductory Accounting course. This study focuses on the effectiveness of using an elective Introductory Accounting course to help business students complete a required financial accounting course, successfully. The effectiveness was determined by comparing students’ performance in Financial Accounting after taking the Introductory Accounting course (Experimental Group) with students that only took the Financial Accounting course (Control Group). Research data came from 471 students in the experimental group and the1388 in the control group. Unfortunately, the analysis produced results that suggested the Introductory Accounting course did not help students in Financial Accounting.

This study examined the effects of using approximation and appealing for the help techniques on learning speaking skill among Iranian intermediate EFL learners. First sixteen participants out of 120 were chosen for the target population. The participants were then randomly assigned to three equal groups- two experimental groups and one control group. The groups were pretested by a speaking pre-test. Regarding the treatment, the experimental groups were taught by using the communicative approach techniques including approximation and appealing for the help. One experimental group received instruction on how to appeal for the help if their competence cannot come up with the exact word. The other experimental group received instruction on how to compensate failure in conversation by using approximate words. For example, in case of forgetting the exact word they used an approximate word or phrase like using "boat" instead of "ship" or "pipe" for "water pipe". However, the participants in the control group received traditional activities in learning speaking such as question and answer, topic discussion, dialogs and role playing. The treatment took 10 sessions of 45 minutes each under the guidance of the supervisor. Then, the control group and the experimental groups took the post-test of pet. After collecting the data, they were analyzed through using One-way Anova and Post-hoc Scheffe Test- Multiple Comparisons. The findings showed that both experimental groups outperformed than the control group. The results showed that those students who received appealing for the help treatment were better than approximation group and control group.

Objective: It was investigated whether providing an explanation for a take-over request in automated driving influences trust in automation and acceptance. Background: Take-over requests will be recurring events in conditionally automated driving which could undermine trust as well as acceptance and, therefore, the successful introduction of automated vehicles.Method: Forty participants were equally assigned to either an experimental group provided with an explanation of the reason for a take-over request or a control group without explanations. In a simulator drive, both groups experienced three take-over scenarios that varied in the obviousness of their causation. Participants rated their acceptance before and after the drive and rated their trust before and after each take-over situation. Results: All participants rated acceptance on the same high level before and after the drive, independent of the condition. Control group’s trust ratings remained unchanged by take-over requests in all situations, but the experimental group showed decreased trust after experiencing a take-over caused by roadworks. Participants provided with explanation felt stronger that they had understood the system and the reasons for the take-overs.Conclusion: A take-over request did not lower trust or acceptance. Providing an explanation for a take-over request had no impact on trust or acceptance, but increased the perceived understanding of the system.Application: The results provide insights into users’ perception of automated vehicles, take-over situations and a fundament for future interface design for automated vehicles.

Teachers must possess critical thinking skills to become good facilitators in the education process to produce students with high-order thinking skills. This research aims to evaluate the implementation of the inquiry-based learning (IBL) method in improving the critical thinking (CT) skills of prospective teachers with their own learning styles. An experimental study is the research method used in this research with the matching-only pretest–posttest with a control group design. The selected participants consisted of two groups of prospective teachers, a total of 76 people with low critical thinking skills and 50 people with very low skills. The experimental group was given the IBL method, while the control group was given the problem-based learning method, which refers to the latest curriculum. Treatment is given for 8 weeks. The statistical analysis used includes Wilcoxon, Mann–Whitney, and Kruskal–Wallis followed by post hoc. The results of this study show an increase in critical thinking in both the experimental group and the control group. However, the increase in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group. The increase in experimental group with low and very low CT group did not differ significantly. On the other hand, in the control group, the increase in CT in the low group was significantly higher than the very low group. Furthermore, the Kruskal–Wallis difference test in the experimental group based on learning styles showed that prospective teachers with converging learning styles were more able to follow the IBL method compared to other learning styles.

This article aims at presenting the reader with a didactic proposal for training higher education interpreting students in entrepreneurial skills by means of introducing a toolkit based on the Blue Ocean Strategy marketing theory. First, the reasons why entrepreneurship is necessary and should thus be an integral part of the interpreting curriculum will be put forward. Second, the Blue Ocean Strategy and its special suitability for the interpreting market will be argued. Third, the transposition of this theory into the interpreting classroom will be explained, with a focus on the approach and development of the lesson plan and didactic materials, which were devised on the basis of a flipped learning teaching methodology. Fourth, the results of the pilot implementation of this toolkit in the dialogue interpreting course Interpretación II: Técnicas de mediación intercultural, a 6 ECTS B.A. in Translation and Interpreting course at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Madrid), will be discussed by way of analysing 45 responses to questionnaires designed with the purpose of shedding light on whether perceptions of the interpreting market substantially differ among students who made part of the experimental group that took the Blue Ocean Strategy pilot class (18 subjects) and the control group (27 subjects), who did not receive training in this marketing strategy.
