This article reviews the literature on aspirations in economics, with a particular focus on socially determined aspirations. The core theory builds on two fundamental principles: ( a) Aspirations can serve to inspire, but still higher aspirations can lead to frustration and resentment; and ( b) aspirations are largely determined by an individual's social environment. Using the structure of this core theory, we discuss the implications of our framework for the study of interpersonal inequality, social conflict, fertility choices, risk taking, and goal setting.

The article presents a theoretical and experimental substantiation of the problem of conflict of the social environment in Luhansk region as a consequence of the hybrid warfare in East of Ukraine. It is determined that the conflict is an active reciprocal actions of opponents to achieve their goals, colored by strong emotional experiences; social conflict is opened confrontation, collision of two or more subjects and participants of social interaction, the causes of which are perceived incompatible needs, interests and values. It is established that as a result of the hybrid warfare in the communities of East of Ukraine a high concentration of different categories of the population was formed, which caused an increased level of conflict in the social environment. The results of a sociological study on determining the level of conflict in the social environment in Luhansk region within the Project of EU «Intensification of the influence of teachers in Luhansk region on the processes of reconciliation and peace» are presented. It has been experimentally proven that the hybrid warfare in East of Ukraine caused a high level of conflict in the social environment of Luhansk region at the level of community, collective and individual and caused the need for targeted influence on reconciliation and peace in the region.

Abstract Delaminations within the face sheets are often observed when a sandwich structure is exposed to impact loads. The buckling and postbuckling behavior of sandwich beams with delaminated faces is investigated in this work. The governing nonlinear equations, boundary conditions, and continuity conditions are formulated through variational principles. The beam construction consists of upper and lower, metallic or composite laminated symmetric skins, and a soft core of a foam or low strength honeycomb type. A high order theory is used for the core that accounts for the nonlinear distortion of the plane of section of the core and the compressibility in the vertical direction. The delamination considered is an interface crack, in which the substrate includes the transversely flexible core. The case of a debond at one of the skin-core interfaces is also included. The effects of the delamination length and location on the overall and local behavior are examined with an arbitrary initial imperfection.

This chapter attempts to develop a framework of an environmental marketing system that is propositioned to lead to customer satisfaction. A comprehensive and intense environmental marketing system as proposed in the chapter is believed to be the core of a firm's success. However, it is assumed that the success of an environmental marketing system would be impacted by some important factors like environmental education of customers and entrepreneurial traits such as eco-innovation, risk-taking, and perseverance. The financial crisis that engulfed the world in 2007 and 2008 has led to a wave of re-regulation and discussion of further regulation that has culminated in the proposals from the Basel Committee as well as those in the Vickers Committee report on Banking Regulation and Financial Crises. This issue of the Review contains a number of papers on Banking Regulation, covering many aspects of the debate, and we can put that debate in perspective through these papers and also by discussing our work on the relationship between bank size and risk taking, which is reported in Barrell et al. (2011). We addressed the causes of the crisis in the October 2008 Review, and began to look at the costs and benefits of bank regulation in Barrell et al. (2009). In that paper we argued that we needed to know the causes of crises and whether the regulators could do anything to affect them before we discussed new regulations. It is now generally agreed that increasing core capital reduces the probability of a crisis occurring, and most changes in regulation that are being discussed see this as the core of their toolkit. The work by the Institute macro team in Barrell et al. (2009) and in Barrell, Davis, Karim and Liadze (2010) was the first to demonstrate that there was a statistically important role for capital in defending against the probability of a crisis occurring, and our findings were widely used in the policy community in the debate over reform.

Based on the key problems of historical areas revitalization and the core theory of Space Syntax, this paper probes into the application of Space Syntax to quantify the space configuration in the conservation and regeneration of historical areas. According to the design process, an ideal framework which includes historical literature research, present situation analysis and optional scheme evaluation is put forward.
