Identification of the highly reflective surface defects on roller parts is a requirement to assure high quality of parts. However, the highly reflective roller surface has the reflection characteristics, which easily lead to the missed detection or wrong detection of defect targets in the visual recognition process. For this problem, a new identification method based on image library matching is proposed. First, to protect the edge information of the defect target while eliminating noise, preprocessing of the measured initial images can be accomplished by using the accelerated optimized bilateral filtering. Second, the entropy and grid gray gradient are used to achieve rough segmentation of highly reflective surface defects on roller parts. Finally, a defect fine identification method based on the Hu invariant moment matching integrated with morphological classification is proposed for achieving image library matching and further quickly removing the pseudodefects. Experimental tests were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in achieving accurate identification of highly reflective surface defects on roller parts. The proposed method has an accuracy of 98.2%, and the running time can basically meet the requirements of real-time performance.

Semiconducting diamond films have the potential for use as a material in which to build active electronic devices capable of operating at high temperatures or in high radiation environments. A major goal of current device-related diamond research is to achieve a high quality epitaxial film on an inexpensive, readily available, non-native substrate. One step in the process of achieving this goal is understanding the nucleation and growth processes of diamond films on diamond substrates. Electron microscopy has already proven invaluable for assessing polycrystalline diamond films grown on nonnative surfaces. The quality of the grown diamond film depends on several factors, one of which is the quality of the diamond substrate. Substrates commercially available today have often been found to have scratched surfaces resulting from the polishing process (Fig. 1a). Electron beam-induced current (EBIC) imaging shows that electrically active sub-surface defects can be present to a large degree (Fig. 1c). Growth of homoepitaxial diamond films by rf plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) has been found to planarize the scratched substrate surface (Fig. 1b).

The article shows the need to develop diagnostic methods for monitoring the quality of lubrication systems, which makes it possible to study the dynamic processes of contacting elements of the friction systems of instrument mechanisms, taking into account roughness parameters, the presence of local surface defects of elements and the bearing capacity of a lubricant. In the present article, a modern diagnostic model has been developed to control the quality of the processes of production and operation of friction systems of instrument assemblies. With the help of the developed model, it becomes possible to establish the relationship of diagnostic and design parameters of the mechanical system, as well as the appearance of possible local defects and lubricant state, which characterize the quality of friction systems used in many mechanical assemblies of the mechanisms of devices. The research results are shown in the form of nomograms to assess the defects of the elements of friction mechanisms of the mechanisms of the devices.

This paper presents selected numerical and experimental results of a skew rolling process for producing balls using helical tools. The study investigates the effect of the billet’s initial temperature on the quality of produced balls and the rolling process itself. In addition, the effect of billet diameter on the quality of produced balls is investigated. Experimental tests were performed using a helical rolling mill available at the Lublin University of Technology. The experiments consisted of rolling 40 mm diameter balls with the use of two helical tools. To determine optimal rolling parameters ensuring the highest quality of produced balls, numerical modelling was performed using the finite element method in the Forge software. The numerical analysis involved the determination of metal flow kinematics, temperature and damage criterion distributions, as well as the measurement of variations in the force parameters. The results demonstrate that the highest quality balls are produced from billet preheated to approximately 1000 °C.

In order to construct a certain standard structure MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) image library by extracting and collating unstructured literature data information, an identification method of the image and text information fusion is proposed. The method makes use of PHOW (Pyramid Histogram Of Words) to represent image features, combines with the word frequency characteristics of the embedded icon note (text), and then uses posterior multiplication fusion method to complete the classification and identification of the online biological literature MRI image. The experimental results show that this method has better correct recognition rate and better recognition performance than feature identification method only based on PHOW or text. The study can offer use for reference to construct other structured professional database from online literature.

Surface roughness is a factor that has a vital influence on overall quality of machine parts. This is the reason why proper measurements of surface roughness are a matter of great importance in modern manufacturing technology. Nowadays portable profilometers are common instruments to be used under industrial conditions. Measurements with such instruments can be affected by numerous factors, for example environmental changes, human errors of an operator, etc. This paper discusses problem of an evaluation of measurement accuracy of portable profilometers. It also describes the evaluation procedure and presents results experimental tests.

Used the influence of technological factors of the rolling process on the intensity of the rolling out of the defect to determine the value of deformation and the coefficient of use of the plasticity resource. Introduced the notion of residual coefficient of plasticity resource in the second stage of transformation of the defect. Found that the causes of deterioration of the quality of cold-rolled sheet can be numerous defects of mechanical origin, caused by mechanical damage of the sheet surface. Conducted an analysis of profiles rolling modes, rolled on the mill 1700. With the use of existing methods calculated DUPR on workshop modes of rolling of specified profiles with and without considering the surface defects. Carried an optimization of the modes of strip rolling with surface defects.

Abstract The azimuth ambiguities appear widely in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, which causes a large number of false targets and seriously affect the quality of image interpretation. Due to under-sampling in Doppler domain, ambiguous energy is mixed with energy from the main zone in the time and frequency domains. In order to effectively suppress the ambiguous energy in SAR images without loss of resolution, this paper presents a novel method of KSVD dictionary learning based on variance statistics (VS-KSVD) and compressed sensing (CS) reconstruction. According to the statistical characteristics of distributed targets, the dictionary that represents the ambiguities is selected and suppressed by coefficient weighting, in which local window filtering is carried out to remove the block effect and optimize the edge information. Finally, the high resolution images with low-ambiguity can be reconstructed by CS. With the proposed approach, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated by using satellite data and simulation in suppressing azimuth ambiguity.

Abstract The main bulk density representation in the molding material is opening material, refractory granular material with a particle size of 0.02 mm. It forms a shell molds and cores, and therefore in addition to activating the surface of the grain is one of the most important features angularity and particle size of grains. These last two features specify the porosity and therefore the permeability of the mixture, and thermal dilatation of tension from braking dilation, the thermal conductivity of the mixture and even largely affect the strength of molds and cores, and thus the surface quality of castings. [1] Today foundries, which use the cast iron for produce of casts, are struggling with surface defects on the casts. One of these defects are veining. They can be eliminated in several ways. Veining are foundry defects, which arise as a result of tensions generated at the interface of the mold and metal. This tension also arises due to abrupt thermal expansion of silica sand and is therefore in the development of veining on the surface of casts deal primarily influences and characteristics of the filler material – opening material in the production of iron castings.
