With the popularization of integrated circuits, MEMS, and portable electronic devices, chemical batteries have many disadvantages as the main energy supply method, such as large size, high quality, and limited energy supply life, requiring regular replacement, resulting in waste of materials, environmental pollution, and other issues. From the above reasons, energy harvesting technology plays an important role in improving the efficiency and life of electronic equipment. In order to explore the influence of the bimorph piezoelectric vibrator’s structural parameters on the power generation capacity, this paper establishes a cantilever beam rectangular bimorph piezoelectric vibrator power generation model, derives the mathematical expression of the bimorph piezoelectric vibrator power generation, and determines the parameter factors that affect the power generation effect. Using MATLAB simulation analysis to obtain the influence relationship curve of system output voltage and structural parameters, the experiment tests the influence law of output voltage and thickness ratio, width-to-length ratio, and Young’s modulus ratio; the test results are consistent with the theoretical analysis, verifying the theory and the correctness of the analysis. The results show that when the thickness ratio is 0.58 and the width-to-length ratio is 1, the power generation effect of the piezoelectric vibrator is the best to reach 14.5V; the power generation capacity of the transducer is inversely proportional to Young’s modulus ratio. This research provides a new idea for the popularization of integrated circuits, MEMS, and portable electronic devices.

In this study, a Magnetic Levitation Energy Harvester (MLEH) was designed and fabricated. The magnetic field distribution and power generation performance of multiple cylindrical magnets were studied. The full factorial design (FFD) of L20 (22 × 5) test was carried out with the sliding magnet arrangement, coil arrangement and wiring method as the control factors, and the output power as target factor. Sweeping-frequency vibration tests and railroad spectrum random vibration tests were conducted to verify the power generation capacity of the prototype. Experimental results show that the device has a broadband response and the railroad vibration test proves the effectiveness of harvester in the application scenario for powering the rail-side sensors. The range of maximum output voltage, power and corresponding frequency in sweeping-frequency vibration tests with the amplitude of 1 to 10 mm and frequency of 5 to 50 Hz are 1.5 to 4.5 V; 1.80 to 17.0 mW and 9.7 to 30.8 Hz. The maximum output voltage and power are 1.33 V and 1.47 mW based on the measured railroad spectrum. Finally, a retrospective review in the efficiency, effectiveness and volume figure of merit is conducted to evaluate the performance of MLEH, indicating a high power density of the proposed harvester.

Malaysia has an abundance of biomass resources that can be utilised for power generation. One of them is paddy residue. Paddy residue creates ahuge potential in the power generation sector. The consumption of paddy residue can help Malaysia become less dependent on conventional sources of energy, mitigate greenhouse gas(GHG) emission, offer positive feedback in the economic sector, and at the same time, provide thebest solution for waste management activities. The forecast datafor 20 years on electricity generation wasused to calculate the GHG emission and its saving when paddy residue is used for electricity generation. The government’scost saving was also identified when paddy residue substituted coal fuel in electricity generation. This paper can provide forecast information so that Malaysia is able to move forward to apply paddy residue as feedstock in energy supply. Hopefully, the data achieved can encourage stakeholder bodies in the implementation of paddy residue inelectricity generation since there is apositive impact towardscost and emission saving.

: With the development of integrated circuits and microelectronics, integrated and miniaturized implantable medical devices are increasingly used in modern medical technologies, e.g., cardiac pacemakers, vasodilators, and cochlear implants. However, the normal operation of these devices is inseparable from the availability of a sufficient energy supply and the bidirectional transmission of internal and external signals. Due to the limitation of the working environment of sensors, there is only a small space for most implanted electronic devices, which is a challenge faced by existing technology. In this paper, current wireless implantable energy supply and communication technologies are reviewed to determine the best available technologies, thereby providing a reference for method selection in designing implantable medical systems.

This paper describes the design of a piezoelectric-driven hydraulically amplified Braille-flexible bump device that enables the flexible formation of Braille characters. A piezoelectric vibrator is used to excite fluid resonance in a cavity, and displacement is realized by compressing the fluid, allowing Braille character dots to be formed. First, the structural design and working principle of the device, as well as the method used to drive the fluid, are explained. Expressions for the output displacement and amplification ratio of the flexible film and piezoelectric vibrator are then obtained through kinetic analysis of the system unit. Subsequently, the structural parameters that affect the output displacement and the liquid amplification are described. Finally, experimental tests of the system are explained. The results indicate that the output displacement of the contact formed by the flexible film reaches 0.214 mm, satisfying the requirements of the touch sensitivity standard for the blind, when the fluid cavity diameter measures 31 mm and the resonance frequency is 375.4 Hz. The corresponding water discharge is 8.8 mL. This study proves that constructing a Braille bump device in this way is both feasible and effective.

AbstractA bilateral gate-controlled S/D symmetric and interchangeable bidirectional tunnel field effect transistor (B-TFET) is proposed in this paper, which shows the advantage of bidirectional switching characteristics and compatibility with CMOS integrated circuits compared to the conventional asymmetrical TFET. The effects of the structural parameters, e.g., the doping concentrations of the N+ region and P+ region, length of the N+ region and length of the intrinsic region, on the device performances, e.g., the transfer characteristics, Ion–Ioff ratio and subthreshold swing, and the internal mechanism are discussed and explained in detail.

Wind turbine selection and optimal hub height positioning are crucial elements of wind power projects. However, in higher class wind speeds especially, over-exposure of wind turbines can lead to a reduction in power generation capacity. In this study, wind measurements from a met mast were validated according to specifications issued by IRENA and NREL. As a first step, it is shown that commercial WTGs from a database may be matched to the wind class and turbulence intensity. Secondly, a wind turbine selection algorithm, based on maximisation of capacity factor, was implemented across the range of WTGs. The selected WTGs were further exposed to an iterative algorithm using pointwise air density and wind shear coefficients. It is shown that a unique maximum capacity factor, and hence wind power generation, exists for a wind turbine, premised on its eventual over-exposure to the wind resource above a certain hub height.

An optimization was performed for a sintering waste heat power unit with all data obtained in the site and under the unit normal operating conditions. The physical and mathematical model for the process of cooling and generation is established, which makes the net power generation as an objective function of the cooling machine imported ventilation, the thickness of sinter and the main steam pressure. Optimizing for single parameter, we found that each parameter had an optimal value for the system. In order to further optimize the system's operating parameters, genetic algorithm was used to make the combinatorial optimization of the three parameters. Optimization results show that power generation capacity per ton is increased by13.10%, and net power generation is increased by 16.17%. The optimization is instructive to the operation of sintering waste heat power unit.
