Background: Immigration studies reported that dyslipidemia is more prevalent in people living in a western lifestyle. However, it is not clear what kind of lifestyle and dietary factors contribute to this difference. Aim: To investigate whether lifestyle including dietary factors could explain the difference in serum lipids between Japanese in Japan and Japanese-Americans in Hawaii living a western lifestyle. Methods: Analyses were conducted in the INTERLIPID study, where four standardized in-depth 24-h dietary recalls were performed. Non-fasting blood was drawn from the participants who included 1,087 Japanese and 176 Japanese-American. Participants’ characteristics were described as means and SD , t test was used for the comparison of means between Hawaii and Japan. Multiple linear regression models were used to examine relationships between dietary and lifestyle factors and the difference in serum lipids levels (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol [LDL-C] and log transformed triglycerides [log-TG]) between Hawaii and Japan, adjusting for age, sex and site as the basic model. Other confounders were then added separately to the basic model. Percentage reduction of regression coefficient for the difference between Hawaii and Japan was calculated. Results: In men, LDL-C levels were significantly higher in Japanese-Americans (138.3 mg/dl) compared to Japanese in Japan (120.3mg/dl, P<0.0001). Similarly, in women LDL-C levels were higher in Japanese-Americans (135.5 mg/dl) than in Japanese in Japan (123.7mg/dl, P<0.001). Median levels of TG were also higher in Japanese-Americans compared to Japanese in Japan (men: 171.0mg/dl and 132.0mg/dl, P<0.001 and women: 132.0mg/dl and 94.5mg/dl, P<0.0001). Mean intakes of most nutrients were significantly different between Japan and Hawaii for both men and women. In multiple linear regression models, for LDL-C, BMI reduced the regression coefficient of site difference by 44.6% in the basic model that included age, sex and site. Added to the basic model separately, alcohol, dietary cholesterol and saturated fatty acid reduced LDL-C site difference by 11%, 15.6% and 13.4%, respectively. For log-TG, BMI reduced the regression coefficient of site difference by 55.8% and other variables tested reduced the site difference by less than 5%.With step by step addition of other variables (BMI, alcohol, dietary cholesterol, fiber and total fat) into the multiple linear regression model, the site LDL-C and log-TG coefficient further reduced from 14.4 to 3.4 (-76.6%) and 0.31 to 0.10 (-68.2%), respectively. Conclusion: BMI explained about half of the higher LDL-C and TG levels in Japanese-Americans in Hawaii compared to Japanese in Japan. BMI together with other macro-nutrients contributed to about 70% of the difference. Further investigation is required to explore the remaining difference.

Abstract Background The Preclinical Alzheimer Cognitive Composite (PACC) is a composite score which can detect the first signs of cognitive impairment, which can be of importance for research and clinical practice. It is designed to be administered in person; however, in-person assessments are costly, and are difficult during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Objective To assess the feasibility of performing the PACC assessment with videoconferencing, and to compare the validity of this remote PACC with the in-person PACC obtained previously. Methods Participants from the HEalth and Ageing Data IN the Game of football (HEADING) Study who had already undergone an in-person assessment were re-contacted and re-assessed remotely. The correlation between the two PACC scores was estimated. The difference between the two PACC scores was calculated and used in multiple linear regression to assess which variables were associated with a difference in PACC scores. Findings Of the 43 participants who were invited to this external study, 28 were re-assessed. The median duration in days between the in-person and the remote assessments was 236.5 days (7.9 months) (IQR 62.5). There was a strong positive correlation between the two assessments for the PACC score, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0·82 (95% CI 0·66, 0·98). The multiple linear regression found that the only predictor of the PACC difference was the time between assessments. Interpretation This study provides evidence on the feasibility of performing cognitive tests online, with the PACC tests being successfully administered through videoconferencing. This is relevant, especially during times when face-to-face assessments cannot be performed.

IntroductionDyslipidaemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Vitamin D deficiency has been found to be associated with CVD. However, the relationships between vitamin D and lipids are inconsistent. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between vitamin D status and serum lipids in Southern Thai subjects.Material and methodsA total of 726 healthy subjects in Southern Thailand were enrolled in the study. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), lipid profiles, fasting plasma glucose, anthropometric data, blood pressure, and body composition were measured. The relationship between serum 25(OH)D levels and biochemical data was evaluated by partial correlation and multiple linear regression analyses. The association of serum 25(OH)D levels with dyslipidaemia was analysed using multivariate regression analysis.ResultsSerum 25(OH)D levels were negatively correlated with body mass index (BMI), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and body composition parameters after adjusting for age in women. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that TC and BMI were independent predictors for 25(OH)D concentrations in women. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratio of hypertriglyceridaemia (OR 0.51; 95% CI: 0.32–0.80, p = 0.004) and reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (OR 0.43; 95% CI: 0.26–0.71, p = 0.001) were significantly lower in vitamin D sufficiency when compared with hypovitaminosis D in women.ConclusionsVitamin D sufficiency could reduce risk of hypertriglyceridaemia and reduced HDL-C, particularly in women, suggesting that vitamin D sufficiency may have beneficial effects on lipids and a decreased risk for CVD in Thai women.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Non Performance Loans (NPL) and Loan Deposit Ratio (LDR) on Return on Assets (ROA) at PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk. The sample in this study is the financial statements at PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk for the period 2010 to 2019 The data collection method uses the documentation method. The data analysis used is multiple linear regression, coefficient From the calculation of the multiple linear regression equation, it can be seen  that the results of the regression test: Y = 14.944– 1.072 X1 - 0.099X2. The coefficient of determination obtained is 0.846. This means that X1 (Non Performance Loan (NPL)) and X2 (Loan Deposit Ratio (LDR)) have an effect on Return on Assets (ROA) (Y) by 84.6% while the rest (100% - 84.6% = 15.4%) is influenced by other variables not examined in this study. The results of the t test show that there is a significant effect between NPL and LDR on Return on Assets (ROA) (Y) at PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk partially or separately The results of the F test show that there is a significant influence between NPL and LDR on Return on Assets (ROA) (Y) at PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk simultaneously or collectively.of determination and hypothesis testing.
