Purpose: A correct body posture plays an important role in people’s health, especially for children and adolescents who are in intensive development. Exercise regularly can increase their health, but there is also an adverse influence on children and adolescents. Thus this review evaluates the impacts of basketball, volleyball, football, gymnast training on the body posture of adolescents. Methods: The literature collect was complete through databases which included Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect. Eight of 480 studies met the inclusion criteria. The collecting articles have assessed the impact of the sport of basketball, volleyball, football, and gymnast on body posture. Result and Conclusion: According to the analysis, the sport of basketball and volleyball play a negative effect on adolescent’s body posture and deviation of body posture increase as training time longer. Further research is required to be done to investigate football training to affect body posture because no studies are confirming the effect of football on body posture. However, gymnast training showed a symmetrical body posture, but the changes of the spine in the sagittal plane in adolescents are worthy of attention. Therefore, it is important to notice that the training program not only aims at the outcome but also promote the harmonious development of the adolescent.

Abstract Objective It has been suggested that overweight/obesity (OW/OB) impairs the normal development of body posture in children and adolescents; however, to date, no study has systematically reviewed or quantified the effect of OW/OB on the development of postural alterations in children and adolescents. The purpose of this study was to systematically review the association between OW/OB and postural alterations in children and adolescents and to quantify the evidence on whether children and adolescents with OW/OB have a higher risk of developing postural alterations than their peers of normal weight. Methods PubMed and Web of Science databases were systematically searched from inception to March 9, 2020. Studies investigating the association between OW/OB and postural alterations in children and adolescents were selected. Nonoriginal articles, participants with movement pattern diseases, and adolescents studied while pregnant were excluded. Two independent reviewers conducted the study selection and data extraction. Qualitative synthesis of evidence and random effect meta-analyses (risk ratio [RR]) were performed. Results Seventy-three studies (5 longitudinal and 68 cross-sectional) met the inclusion criteria involving 1,757,107 children and adolescents. There was consistent evidence supporting associations of OW/OB with rounded shoulder, lumbar hyperlordosis, genu valgum, and flatfoot. Our meta-analysis showed that children and adolescents with OW/OB had a significantly higher risk of lumbar hyperlordosis (RR = 1.41), genu valgum (RR = 5.92), flatfoot (RR = 1.49), and an overall altered posture (RR = 1.68) when compared with their peers of normal weight. The presence of genu valgum and flatfoot were the most robust results. Conclusions Based on these findings, OW/OB is associated with the presence of postural alterations in children and adolescents. Impact This is the first study that has systematically reviewed the effect of OW/OB on the development of postural alterations in children and adolescents.

Abstract BackgroundThe lifestyle of children has a significant impact on the future health of the whole society. Therefore, health education, prevention and monitoring of health determinants is important at every stage of ontogenesis. This requires a thorough knowledge of the schoolchild's environment, perceived as a wide set of stressors, including not only genetic but also epigenetic factors. One of them is the issue of the correct and abnormal body posture at school and on the way there.MethodBody posture tests were carried out in a group of 65 students aged 7 years, using the projection moiré method in 4 positions: 1-habitual posture, 2-posture after 10-minute of asymmetric axial load, 3-a posture after one minute of the load removal, 4- a posture after two minutes of the load removal. Physical fitness was measured with the Sekita test. ResultsThe significance of differences between the 1st and 2nd measurements was analyzed to determine the impact of the backpack load and the correlation with physical fitness, and to study its influence on the value of the differences in posture features. ConclusionsCarrying school supplies on the back induces significant changes in the value of the features describing the body posture in the frontal plane. It should be assumed that the greater the weight of the container and, carrying time and intensity of physical effort is the greater the changes will be. Relatedly, it is not recommended to carry school supplies weighing more than 4 kg by first-grade students.Physical fitness has a various and sex-dependent influence on the value of changes in body posture features because of carrying school supplies. Among boys it significantly affects the asymmetry of the torso bend, shoulder height, the waist triangles height and width, whereas among girls it affects the asymmetry of the shoulders and the distance of the angles of the lower shoulder blades from the line of the spinous processes of the spine. Among boys the changes in the value of posture features are mostly influenced by endurance and speed, but strength, power and agility are of lower influence, whereas among girls only agility matters.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Exercises of Pilates method have been widely used to improve postural alignment. There is strong evidence favoring their use in improving flexibility and balance, as well as some evidence of improvement in muscle strength. However, the benefits related to posture are not well established. Objective: To investigate in healthy adults, the impact of the Pilates method in the postural alignment through some angles in the sagittal plane and the occurrence of pain before and after an exercise session, and after the completion of a 16-session program. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study of pre and post-intervention type. Healthy adults (n = 37) interested in starting Pilates were evaluated for acute effects on posture after a Pilates session (n = 37) and after a 16-session program, for a period of 10 weeks (n = 13). Using the postural assessment software (SAPO), six angles were analyzed: head horizontal alignment (HHA), pelvis horizontal alignment (PHA), hip angle (HA), vertical alignment of the body (VAB), thoracic kyphosis (TK), and lumbar lordosis (LL). The occurrence of pain was investigated to control adverse effects. Results: Statistically significant (p<0.05) differences found after one session include increased HHA (left view), decreased VAB (left view) and TK (both side views). After 16 sessions, we observed an increase of HHA, and a decrease of TK, LL (both side views) and HA (right view). All the differences point to an improvement of postural alignment. A significant reduction of prevalence of pain was verified after the first session (40.5% vs. 13.5%; p=0.004) and after the full program (30.8% vs. 15.3%; p=0.02). Conclusions: Our results suggest that the Pilates method has a positive impact on postural alignment in healthy adults, besides being a safe exercise.

Female sexuality (meaning sexual desire, excitement and orgasm) has been of considerable interest in psychiatry. Women's efforts to define and legitimize their own experience of their sexuality have increased in the past 25 years. However, the integration of these new views into the body of psychiatric (especially psychoanalytic) theory has not occurred very actively or successfully. Very little is known about the development of sexuality in childhood and adolescence. This paper looks at various behaviours, interests and events in women's lives that might reveal something about the development of their sexuality. The literature on female masturbation is reviewed and some sex differences highlighted. The literature on interest in babies, the wish to have babies, and menarche is explored for possible associations with sexuality. Rather than sexuality being a central organizer of experience, it seems quite possible that experience is an organizer of sexuality. Therefore, to better understand female sexuality we need to consider the impact of experiences during childhood and adolescence.

Protein supplements are one of the most commonly consumed nutritional supplements, whether by professional athletes or amateurs, even by those who use them for aesthetic purposes instead of sporting ones. The thirst for becoming better is increasing day by day and so is the quest for competition. Sports have been one of the greatest of platforms to showcase one’s talent, thus leading to constant hustle for getting better day by day. To improve the performance, diet and physical appearance of the body i.e. muscle growth of athletes, sports nutrient products are developed. The use of these protein supplements in diet has increased the physiological requirement of protein but whether the use of these supplements is having positive or negative effect on the host is still a topic of debate for many. Large amount of protein derived constituents end up in the large intestine in case of high protein diets as compared to medium or low protein diets, leading to more bacterial amino acid metabolism in colon having positive as well as negative effects on the host. We, here, will try to summarize the impact of protein diet supplements on athletes.

Background The aim of this study was to describe changes in selected parameters of body posture in children between 5 and 9 years old with diversified somatic structures. Methods The study was carried out in 2015 and then repeated in 2018 among 67 participants who had previously been observed to have scoliotic posture. Basic body weight and height measurements were taken, which were then used to calculate the body mass index. Posture tests were conducted using the photogrammetric method. Results Girls and boys were not significantly different in body dimensions. With age, the number of overweight boys and children with normal growth-weight proportions increased. Temporary differences in posture variables indicating abnormalities were small. Conclusions There were no significant differences in somatic parameters between the girls and the boys. Those children with a slender body structure had the most abnormalities in the coronal plane. On the other hand, changes in spinal position in the sagittal plane were more frequent in overweight children. Relations were noted between the compensation index in the sagittal plane and deviation of the trunk inclination, the maximum deviation of the line of the spinous processes, and the angle of the shoulder line in the coronal plane and body mass index values were noted.

Introduction: Postural defects and accompanying dysfunctions are one of the greatest existing health problems. It is necessary to define factors responsible for the formation of incorrect body posture and strive to eliminate or modify them. The aim of the study was to determine changes in trunk positioning depending on the way of carrying a small handbag (the bag weighing 2.7 kg). Materials and methods: The study comprised 32 volunteers aged 21.75±2.00 years. The ZEBRIS Pointer system was used to test the body posture. The Statistica v13 program was applied for data compilation. Normality of distribution regarding variables was tested with the Shapiro-Wilk test. Differences between repeated measures were estimated using ANOVA, Friedman’s rank test and post hoc tests. The level of statistical significance was α=0.05. Results: Placing the bag on one shoulder significantly increased thoracic kyphosis, while wearing the bag diagonally across the trunk caused a significant increase in both thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis. Other observed changes concerned the balance of the trunk in the sagittal plane, the position of the shoulder blades, symmetry of shoulder position and pelvic rotation. Conclusions: Carrying even a small load in the form of a bag significantly changes quality of body posture. Furthermore, changes in body posture depend on the way of carrying the load. Wearing the bag diagonally across the trunk is not better than carrying it asymmetrically on one shoulder.

This paper discusses the body posture detection problem using low cost Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) inertial sensors, for which a complementary sensor fusion solution is proposed. Considering the impact from the noise and bias drifts, through Kalman filter to complete the multi-sensor information fusion, achieved an accurate attitude determination. The experimental results show that, after using Kalman filtering algorithm to fuse acceleration sensor and signal gyroscope, it can effectively eliminate the accumulative error and significantly better dynamic characteristics of attitude angle measurement, Improving the reliability and accuracy of body posture estimation.

Critical traffic situations, such as vehicle collisions and emergency manoeuvres, can cause an occupant to respond with reflex and voluntary actions. These affect the occupant’s position and dynamic loading during interactions with the vehicle’s restraints, possibly compromising their protective function. Electromyography (EMG) is a commonly used method for measuring active muscle response and can also provide input parameters for computer simulations with models of the human body. The recently introduced muscle-contraction (MC) sensor is a wearable device with a piezo-resistive element for measuring the force of an indenting tip pressing against the surface of the body. The study aimed to compare how data collected simultaneously with EMG, video motion capture, and the novel MC sensor are related to neck-muscle loading. Sled tests with low-severity frontal impacts were conducted, assuming two different awareness conditions for seated volunteers. The activity of the upper trapezius muscle was measured using surface EMG and MC sensors. The neck-muscle load F was estimated from an inverse dynamics analysis of the head’s motion captured in the sagittal plane. The volunteers’ response to impact was predominantly reflexive, with significantly shorter onset latencies and more bracing observed when the volunteers were aware of the impact. Cross-correlations between the EMG and MC, EMG and F, and F and MC data were not changed significantly by the awareness conditions. The MC signal was strongly correlated (r = 0.89) with the neck-muscle loading F in the aware and unaware conditions, while the mean ΔF-MC delays were 21.0 ± 15.1 ms and 14.6 ± 12.4 ms, respectively. With the MC sensor enabling a consistent measurement-based estimation of the muscle loading, the simultaneous acquisition of EMG and MC signals improves the assessment of the reflex and voluntary responses of a vehicle’s occupant subjected to low-severity loading.
