Seven different types of flame-retarding finishes were applied to light-to-medium weight cotton fabric at add-ons appropriate to pass the DOC FF 3–71 test. The finishes studied were based on tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium chloride (THPC), neutralized THPC (THPOH), Fyrol 76, and Pyrovatex CP. The specific finishes were: THPOH-NH3, THPOH-urea-trimethylolmelamine, Proban (THPC-urea precondensate)-NH3, THPC-urea-disodium hydrogen phosphate, Fyrol 76, Fyrol 76-N-methylolacrylamide, and Pyrovatex CP-methylolmelamine. Textile performance properties are reported as a function of add-on of each type of finish; strengths and abrasion resistance of the finished fabrics are considered and discussed as a function of resilience. General trends of decreasing strength and abrasion resistance with increasing resilience were observed for these flame-retardant fabrics. Within this trend there is latitude for selection of finishes that will provide superior performance in the individual textile property such as abrasion resistance, breaking strength, and tearing strength.

SUMMARYWe developed an individual-based (IB) model to explore the stochastic attributes of state transitions, the heterogeneity of the individual interactions, and the impact of different network structure choices on the poliovirus transmission process in the context of understanding the dynamics of outbreaks. We used a previously published differential equation-based model to develop the IB model and inputs. To explore the impact of different types of networks, we implemented a total of 26 variations of six different network structures in the IB model. We found that the choice of network structure plays a critical role in the model estimates of cases and the dynamics of outbreaks. This study provides insights about the potential use of an IB model to support policy analyses related to managing the risks of polioviruses and shows the importance of assumptions about network structure.

Abstract In operating tires on Group A roads, the abrasion resistance of SKD/SBR and SKD/NR blends is substantially higher than that of SKS-30 ARKM-15. The abrasion index of butadiene rubbers increases with the severity of the test conditions, as in operating on mountain roads, with partial braking and acceleration. In operating tires on Group B and V roads (for example, in quarries), the abrasion index of SKD rubbers, particularly those with high SKD content, decreases considerably as a result of increased chipping and cutting of the tread pattern. In summer, the superiority of BR rubbers over SKS-30 ARKM-15 in abrasion resistance is less apparent than in winter. This is particularly characteristic for SKD/NR blends. For automobile tires of different types and sizes, the selection of composition and properties of treads in which SKD is used should be carried out in such a way as to take into account operating conditions.

Research background and hypothesis. Nutrition habits develop with the growth of an individual. During adolescence proper nutrition habits and physical activity are the most important factors infl uencing health. The quality of life is affected by the peculiarities of behavior and lifestyle in adolescence. The aim of our study was to determine nutrition habits of adolescents, and then, to make a comparison of eating patterns by gender and the groups of adolescents in different physical activity groups. Research methods. The study comprised the ninth form students from 16 Kaunas schools (4 gymnasiums, 10 secondary and 2 main schools). The strategy was based on the evaluation of proportions of the different types of schools in Kaunas. The study applied questionnaire survey. Research results. The analysis revealed that 28.5% of middle-school age students did not have breakfast, there were more girls than boys among them. Boys and students with lower physical activity more frequently had hot meals. Adolescents most commonly had meals four times per day without following nutrition regimen. Discussion and conclusions. Boys more frequently had breakfast, however, they chose buns, potato chips, and used more fried food for snacks; the same eating patterns were followed by students with lower physical activity. Girls were more likely to have fruit, green vegetables. In most cases, the selection of meals depended on the individual taste; boys more frequently paid attention to prices and nutrition values. Usually adolescents acquired information about proper nutrition from their parents and the internet; girls – more frequently from magazines and the internet. Keywords: adolescents’ knowledge on healthy nutrition, nutrition habits, physical activity.

In this study, performance properties of single jersey knitted fabrics made from Aegean cotton, Supima cotton and Giza cotton yarns are investigated. Firstly, Uster parameters and breaking strength of the yarns were examined and then the properties of the fabrics knitted from these yarns were evaluated statistically. The significance levels of the relationship between the measured parameters were determined. Considering the results obtained with the mechanical properties of the fabrics with Uster analysis applied to these yarns, it is seen that the yarns made from Supima and Giza cotton fibers in extra long fiber category have more smooth, less hairiness, contain less neps and the fabrics knitted with these yarns have high mechanical properties.

This article attempts to investigate certain problematic aspects of the institution of the victim in the Russian criminal process. For this purpose, analyzed the individual norms governing his procedural status. Separate gaps of the criminal procedure legislation in the sphere of protection of the legal rights and interests of the victim are disclosed. The author emphasizes that the improvement of the criminal procedure legislation in terms of the extension of the victim’s authority to defend his rights violated by the crime should be continued. On the basis of the study of the current legislation regarding the regulation of the rights of the victim of a crime, it is proposed to expand the list of decisions received by him, referred to in paragraph 13, part 2 of article 42 Code of Criminal Procedure. The author proposes to include in the list of the indicated legislative norm the right to receive the victim a copy of the decision on the selection of a specific type of preventive measure, selected in relation to the suspect (accused). To create an effective mechanism for protecting the interests of legal entities victims of a crime, we offer part 9 of art. 42 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation shall be reworded as follows: «if a legal entity is recognized as a victim, his procedural right in criminal proceedings is exercised by the professional lawyer representing him».

In the decade following the passage of the Federal Securities Laws of 1933 and 1934, the reform of accounting and auditing practices directed authority for selection of accounting principles and auditing procedures away from the discretion of the individual accountant and auditor. Instead, a self-regulatory peer driven process to establish general acceptance for a more limited set of principles and procedures was being initiated. Two events which occurred in 1938 indelibly affected this process, the SEC's decision to issue Accounting Series Release No. 4, which empowered non-governmental entities as potential sources of authoritative support, and the McKesson & Robbins fraud which called into question the value of the independent audit and the role of external auditing at the very time a momentum had been established for self-regulation by the nascent and recently reunified accounting profession. The contributions of Samuel J. Broad in both the initiatives for self-regulation of accounting principles and of auditing procedures is examined in this paper. Further, several examples of Broad's rhetorical technique of employing analogous reasoning to facilitate dissemination of complex economic and accounting issues are examined.

Basic scattering functions were used in a novel calculation of the turbidity ratios for particles having the relative refractive index m = 1.001, 1.005 (0.005) 1.315 and the size α = 0.05 (0.05) 6.00 (0.10) 15.00 (0.50) 70.00 (1.00) 100, where α = πL/λ, L is the diameter of the spherical particle, λ = Λ/μ1 is the wavelength of light in a medium with the refractive index μ1 and Λ is the wavelength of light in vacuo. The data are tabulated for the wavelength λ = 546.1/μw = 409.357 nm, where μw is the refractive index of water. A procedure has been suggested how to extend the applicability of Tables to various refractive indices of the medium and to various turbidity ratios τa/τb obtained with the individual pairs of wavelengths λa and λb. The selection of these pairs is bound to the sequence condition λa = λ0χa and λb = λ0χb, in which b-a = δ = 1, 2, 3; a = -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, ..., b = a + δ = -1, 0, 1, 2, ...; λ0 = λa=0 = 326.675 nm; χ = 546.1 : 435.8 = 1.2531 is the quotient of the given sequence.
