The TASH Technical Assistance Project was developed to assist state VI-C coordinators with their staff training efforts designed to benefit children and youth who have deaf-blindness. The evaluation data indicate that the project has been successful, and that it offers a viable approach to other in-service training programs. This article describes the technical assistance project and provides the evaluation data for one project year.

A sequential model for designing and implementing staff training programs for rehabilitation counselors (RCs) is presented. The model includes six steps or phases and emphasizes identification of RC job tasks, establishment of specific training goals, and evaluation of training outcomes. Applications of the model are discussed.

The contents of Education for Sustainable Development should be included in teachers’ initial and advanced training programs. A sustainable consciousness is one of the main foundations for determining the key competences for sustainability. However, there are not many empirical studies that deal with consciousness from education. In this context, the e-portfolio appears as a tool that promotes reflection and critical thinking, which are key competences for consciousness development. This work intends to propose a categorization system to extract types of consciousness and identify the levels of consciousness of teachers in training. For this research work, which is of an eminently qualitative nature, we have selected 25 e-portfolios of students (teachers in pre-service training) in the last year of the School of Education at the University of Macerata (Italy). The qualitative methodological procedure that was followed enabled deducing three bases that shape the consciousness of teachers in training: thinking, representation of reality, and type of consciousness. We concluded that the attainment of a sustainable consciousness in teachers requires activating and developing higher levels of thinking, as well as a projective and macrostructural representation of reality.

Some uneasy and dissatisfaction with current research on perceptions of supernatural in certain stages of children and youth development has motivated a search for an alternative approach that could be built on new empirical data and a method that could help to better assess how pre- and adolescents relate to extraordinary and supernatural phenomena. An exploratory survey has been designed on an ad hoc instrument, fitted for that age span and the research goals. The outcomes point to the persistence of these perceptions and interests in that age, their close relatedness with indicators of religiosity, and their slowly vanishing when growing up. More research is needed to better ascertain the role this factor still plays in religious and spiritual development despite the very secular context in which often those beliefs are held.

Education provides access to subject matter experts, interaction with career role models. It provides interaction with students in other schools, increases access to information instructional resources, offers opportunities for staff development/in-service training, and increase school community linkages. The rapid growth of satellite networks has generated interest by many state officials in statewide satellite networks. Rural areas are showing great interest in interactive satellite instruction as a way to resolve teacher shortages and meet rigorous graduation requirements. Televised classes permitting live teacher-student interaction via satellite communication systems, and regular telephone lines provide equity increasing quality of educational opportunity.

Background: This study explores the effectiveness of educator's training programs regarding the presentation, materials, facilities, relevance and usefulness of the training to the current employment and facilitator’s knowledge using Gagne’s event of instructions. Method: A half day long training was conducted on September 2017 at reach of the two health care teaching institutes. At the end of training, evaluation was done and rated in 5 point Likert scale with 5 as the highest score. Participants agreed that the training was useful and relevant to their work. Result: This study showed a positive perception of the learners which will help their job performance as well as the outcome of their dental teaching school and Gagne’s Events of Instructions can be used when conducting this type of training sessions. Conclusion: Regular training program for staff development need to be carried out following a system approach with right mix of input and contents which process with right sequences of instructions to fill the gap between desired performance and actual staff performance.
