University students of the late 1960s and 1970s have been included in a study of factors affecting their mental health and academic functioning in many countries and cultures. Social change and intergenerational conflict were seen to be almost inseparable as social, economic and political concerns involve both students and their countries. Results of studies at Dalhousie University, six British universities, and the University of Singapore are examined in light of the socioeconomic problems existing at the time. High unemployment of university graduates, a growing factor in developing and developed nations, is pointed to as a major stress during a university education in the late 1970s.

Recently the university students are required by their institutions to have the TOEFL score in the fisrt year or in the last year of their study before graduation. Some other higher institutions require their students to submit TOEIC, not TOEFL, before graduation. Companies, in the recruitment process, require the applicants to submit TOEFL score to show their level of English proficiency. The first question is which one is more appropriate for job applicants in the compay: TOEFL  or TOEIC. Another question for university students before graduation is whether to have TOEFL  in the first year or in the last year before graduation. This article aims at answering the two questions raised. The first part will give an overview of various versions of TOEFL  and  TOEIC  and the second part proposes the appropriate English proficiency test  for the recruitment process for new employees and for the university graduates, that is, TOEIC for the company  and TOEFL  for universities  and  colleges.

This study aims to determine the university students’ level of motivation in terms of different variables. A study group of this research has been designed through one of the non-random sampling methods, Using appropriate sampling, 606 students from Faculty of Education of C.U. have been involved in this study. Motivation scale in English Language Learning developed by Mehdiyev,Usta,Uğurlu (2015) was used as an instrument of data collection. T-test and one - way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to resolve problems of this research. As a result of the research the motivation level of university students hasn’t been revealed significantly different regarding to the gender variable. However, considering the t-test results of motivation scale dimensions, confidence, attitude and personal use, significant difference is seen in favour of women in personal use dimension. The level of language learning motivation of female students is higher than men’s regarding to personal use dimension. However, men’s and women’s views don’t differ significantly in attitude and confidence dimensions. University students don’t present significant differences in terms of birth place, parent’s education level, total motivation scores and confident, attitude and personal dimensions. Students’ motivation levels are seen not to be influenced by the places such as village, provision or city where they have spent the most of their lifetime. At the same time the findings revealed that parental status variable in terms of primary, secondary and university graduates has no effects on students’ motivation.

The aim of this study is to examine the career stress levels of university students in different faculties according to age, gender, faculty, class and financial status variables. The research was conducted using a quantitative research design. The sample of this study consisted of 1,189 university students from Kastamonu University Education Faculty, School of Physical Education and Sports, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Career Stress Scale consisting of 20 items and three sub-dimensions was used. Data were normally distributed and parametric analysis was used. According to the findings of this study, it was determined that the average score of the participants was 2.43 from the total score of the career stress scale. In this context, it was found that the career stress levels of the participants were moderate at the lower limit. According to the average scores of the participants, the lowest subscale was found to be an external conflict with 2.13 average and the highest subscale was found to be job anxiety with an average score of 2.82. A significant difference was found almost between all different groups in different ways (p > 0.05). As a result, it was found that the career stress levels of the university students participating in the research were moderate, as well as differences according to variables such as gender, class, age, faculty and income status. Among these differences, the most striking ones appear to be the variables of age and income. In this context, it was determined that university students who have lower age and lower-income status level have higher career stress level than age and income status variables. The article is focused on the problem of educational programs modernization on the basis of principles of project-oriented training and students’ involvement in solving scientific-research and industrial-technological tasks relevant for the region. Special attention is paid to the multilevel career guidance work at Oreburg State University (special projects such as pre-university education centre “Applicant”, University Computer School, University physics and maths school, “University Saturdays”). The task of creating a complex of educational and intellectual products that ensure high competitiveness of university graduates is considered. For this purpose, the University reali- zes two educational projects: “School of leadership” and “Going to study at OSU”. These projects implement project-oriented training, involve employers in educational process. As a result, students present their own business projects with financial support. Special course of technological entrepreneurship is aimed at development of business thinking, business planning, management skills, key competences to start a business or to conduct innovation projects at companies. Modernization of educational practices gives considerable topical relevance to the question of young teachers and researchers retention at the University, their integration in academic community.

The novel coronavirus has taken a catastrophic toll worldwide on physical and mental health. We focused on the psychosocial impact among students in Uruguay, a country relatively protected from the pandemic. Our study had three main aims : 1) describe in detail the impact among university students, 2) identify relationships between different dimensions and 3) highlight the factors determinant of mental distress. We designed a multi-dimensional questionnaire to investigate the perceived impact on the lives of students. The questionnaire was administered to 144 undergraduates in Uruguay online while the university was closed. 38-66% of students indicated increases in signs of anxiety, depression or sleep disturbances. Independently of other related factors, increases in substance use, impairments in social relationships, negative impacts of school closures, and personal economic worries explained 41% of variance in psychological distress. Findings are discussed in terms of policies for public health and future directions for research on mental health.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to university students' awareness of the employers preferred competencies and the educational level capable of readying them satisfactory for the demands of the world of work.Design/methodology/approachUsing a qualitative approach exploratory research design, data were gathered in an informal and unstructured manner, researchers identified undergraduate students' awareness of employers' preferred competencies of the graduates.FindingsUndergraduate students overestimated academic credentials while ignoring soft skills as employers' preferences. Nevertheless, they were worried about their capability to compete adequately when seeking employment despite identifying university level of education as the most appropriate for developing and enhancing their employability.Research limitations/implicationsThe study involved mostly second-year students from one college of the seven colleges constituting the University of Dodoma.Practical implicationsThere is a need for university education to integrate and emphasize the non-cognitive skills for adequately and holistically preparing future employees with adequate knowledge and skills to thrive in the world of work demands.Social implicationsThere likelihood that a lack of confidence would impact their participation in academia and work/job. Hence, lower down their productivity and inadequately contribute to social and national economic growth.Originality/valueThe value of these findings is that they identify, inform and can be used to enhance university education programming for improved graduate's employability.

<p>ABSTRACT<br />Objective: Health-care students should be properly trained to be able to solve the society problems in the future. One of the factors affecting the<br />academic progress of students is student’s educational attitudes that are affected by the factors such as their learning environment’s climate. The<br />aim of the current study is studying the ethical climate on the university students’ educational attitudes in the operating room of the medical science<br />university in Zahedan.<br />Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, the students were selected by census method (62 students). To collect the data, a three-part questionnaire<br />was used that the first part was related to the demographic features, the second part was related to the educational attitude, and the third part was<br />related to Olson’s standard questionnaire. The data were analyzed in SPSS 19 by statistical tests, t-test, and variance analysis.<br />Results: The average age of students was 21.65±1.63 and 36 participants were female and 26 participants were male. 34 participants were educating<br />in semester 4 and 28 participants were educating semester 8. The average score of educational attitude was 87.01±9.20 and the average score of<br />ethical climate was 15.58±92.85, and the significant relationships were observed between the ethical climate and educational attitude (p=0.03).<br />Conclusion: The results of this study showed that students have a positive view of their field of study and existence ethical climate and managers, and<br />officials should try to maintain this situation, and the relationship between the ethical climate and educational attitude was significant.<br />Keywords: Educational attitude, Ethical climate, The university students, Operating rooms.</p>
