In learning and teaching English as a foreign language, motivation is crucial to success. The purpose of this study is to discover whether non-English-majored students are motivated in learning English and to find out what factors can help motivate them to learn English. The study mainly employed a questionnaire which is developed and administered base on Khau and Thach (2021)’s framework to collect the data. It was delivered to 54 non-English-majored students who are at their third year of study at a public university in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The results highlighted various researches that have been conducted on the elements that influence motivation. The data showed that the participants’ motivation level is at medium rank. It could be inferred that these participants were motivated to learn English at university. The current study also found that students’ motivation was mainly affected by four factors which are teacher’s personality, teacher’s methodology, facilities for studying and classmates. The results of the study contribute to the field of motivation research in EFL setting.

The identification of the practitioner’s profile regarding their motivation level for physical exercise engagement could be a behavioral strategy to increase exercise adherence. The present study investigates the associations between motivation levels, modalities practiced, and goals concerning the practice of physical exercise among physical exercise practitioners. A total of 100 physical exercise practitioners, of which 67 were women, took part in this study. The participants were engaged in extreme fitness program, strength training, fight training, Pilates, and functional training. Motivation level (BREQ-3) and expectations regarding regular physical exercise (IMPRAF-54) were assessed. A multiple correspondence analysis demonstrates preferential relationships between descriptive and non-inferential variables. Strength training and fight training practitioners seek these modalities with the goals of “Health” and “Aesthetics,” demonstrating low autonomy in relation to the behavior for the practice of physical exercise. Extreme conditioning program and functional training practitioners have as goal “Pleasure,” demonstrating medium and high levels of autonomy for such practice and Pilates practitioners have the goal of “Stress Control.” To promote and encourage the regular practice of physical exercise, this strategy could be used to take actions that increase the public’s intention to start or continue in a physical exercise program.

AbstractAugmented reality and virtual reality are innovative technologies applied to the area of graphic expression with increasing influence on the teaching–learning process. Although these innovative resources enable new forms of teaching, it remains unclear how these artificial applications can impact students’ motivation. The aim of this paper was to evaluate how virtual exercises increase the motivation level in different typologies of university students. The sample was composed of graduate (master’s degree) and undergraduate students (three engineering degrees) of the University of Cordoba. These tools were available to students through four devices: mobile phones, tablets, computers and virtual reality goggles. The motivation of the students was evaluated through the modified Instructional Materials Motivation Survey by the attention, relevance, confidence and satisfaction motivational model. The results obtained through a 5-point Likert scale showed that these innovative resources significantly improved the students’ motivation level, especially concerning the ‘relevance’ aspect (M = 4.01; SD = 0.98). The virtual resources also increased the understanding of the exercises and their spatial vision (M = 3.80; SD = 1.14). Of the total sample, 63.83% students considered the virtual reality goggles as the most suitable device to visualize graphic expression exercises.

Education is a critical component that cannot be separated from an individual’s life. One of many important factors that could support, encourage, and give zeal in the learning process is motivation. The COVID-19 pandemic nowadays indirectly triggers a rapid and drastic change in the learning process, one of them being lecture that must be held online. This repeated cross-sectional research aimed to give a description regarding the fluctuation of students’ academic motivation level before, in the beginning, and until one-year after online learning. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data which are collected gradually and analyzed using Summary Independent Sample T-Test. The result of this research showed no significant differences in academic motivation before COVID-19 and during the early days of Learning from Home (µbefore = 4.777; µbeginning = 4.808; sig = 0.432), nevertheless, a significant decrease is observable one year after the online learning (µnow = 4.345; sigbefore = <0.001; sigbeginning = <0.001). The decrease in students’ academic motivation is certainly a crucial problem that is prioritized to be resolved. Hence, lecturers need to adapt with this change and create learning innovation in order to trigger students’ learning motivation.

THE WOMEN'S CONDITION AFTER CHILDBIRTH UNDERGOES PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CHANGES. CHANGES AFTER CHILDBIRTH CAUSE FATIGUE IN THE POSTPARTUM PERIOD. POSTPARTUM FATIGUE MAKES THE MOTIVATION OF BREASTFEEDING DECREASE. THIS STUDY AIMS TO FIND OUT THE RELATIONSHIP OF FATIGUE WITH MOTIVATION FOR BREASTFEEDING IN THE POSTPARTUM PERIOD. THE DESIGN OF THIS STUDY WAS A QUANTITATIVELY ANALYTICAL CORRELATION WITH A CROSSECTIONAL APPROACH PERFORMED ON 95 POSTPARTUM MOTHERS WITH PURPOSIVE SAMPLING TECHNIQUES. THE QUESTIONNAIRES USED ARE THE POSTPARTUM FATIGUE SCALE (PFS) AND BREASTFEEDING MOTIVATIONAL INSTRUCTIONAL MEASUREMENT SCALE (BMIMS). STATISTICAL ANALYSIS USES THE SPEARMAN RHO TEST WITH SIGNIFICANCE P<0.05. THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY SHOWED THAT POSTPARTUM MOTHERS WHO EXPERIENCED HIGH LEVELS OF FATIGUE AS MUCH AS 91 (95.8%), MODERATE AS MUCH AS 2 (2.1%), LOW AS MANY AS 2 (2.1%) RESPONDENTS. THE MOTIVATION LEVEL OF BREASTFEEDING WAS LOW BY 50 (52.6%), AND THE MOTIVATION OF BREASTFEEDING WAS LOW AS MUCH AS 40 (47.4%) RESPONDENTS. THE CONCLUSION OF THIS STUDY THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT ASSOCIATION BETWEEN FATIGUE AND MOTIVATION OF BREASTFEEDING IN POSTPARTUM (P = 0.001). HEALTH SERVICE ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF SERVICE IN THE POSTPARTUM PERIOD BY ASSESSING POSTPARTUM FATIGUE EARLY TO INCREASE MATERNAL MOTIVATION IN BREASTFEEDING.

Motivation for performing sport is complex because most athletes have multiple motivations, including extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Understanding the motivation dynamics of athletes, especially after a sports injury, is crucial because the injury may have a detrimental effect on the athlete's psychosocial conditions. This study figured out the motivation level of Paralympic athletics athletes after injury. A total of 44 Paralympic athletes were involved in the survey. The Sports Motivation Scale (SMS) was used to identify the level of athlete motivation. The SMS was developed within the Self Determination Theory (SDT) framework to assess various forms of motivation, namely amotivation, external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, integrated regulation, and intrinsic motivation. This study found that out of 44 Paralympic athletics athletes after an injury, 5 (4.55%) of the athletes reported high levels of amotivation, and 15 (34.09%) of the athletes were identified in the moderate level of amotivation. This finding indicates that injury does not impact amotivation, as the athletes exhibit a high level of extrinsic motivation (external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, integrated regulation) and intrinsic motivation. Based on these motivation profiles, the Paralympic coaches should adjust their approach in motivating the Paralympic athletes to return to their training and competitions after injury.
