Well-Known Institute of Management is situated in New Delhi, India, and offers a 2-year fully residential post-graduate programme in management (MBA). Dr. Vivek Gupta joined the Well-Known Institute of Management in the year 2018 as an assistant professor in the area of information technology and system management. He is also heading the IT team of the institute. The critical and unprecedented COVID-19 situation brought another challenge for Dr. Gupta and his team. Going virtual is inevitable. But which platform will serve the purpose of running the next academic session in virtual mode? The IT team proposed a three-stage process in deciding and recommending a plausible online platform for conducting online classes. In the first stage, requirements for conducting online classes are to be analysed and recorded. In the second stage, the options available in the market are explored followed by their assessment based on the requirements recorded in Stage 1. The IT team simplified the assessment by first mapping these requirements with 20 important functionalities of these five platforms. However, the outcome was not favourable. Not a single platform is meeting all the requirements. The IT team is back to square one. In addition, there are other major considerations that needed thorough analysis like managing the desirable behaviour from the users of the selected online platform. The next few months are going to be a real challenge for Dr. Gupta and his team in aligning the institute with a new norm in the upcoming academic year.

The first stage of this project aims to identify assessment measures which include items on voice-hearing by way of a systematic review. The second stage is the development of a brief framework of categories of positive experiences of voice hearing, using a triangulated approach, drawing on views from both professionals and people with lived experience. The third stage will involve using the framework to identify any positve aspects of voice-hearing included in the voice hearing assessments identified in stage 1.

This research is aimed to find out the efforts to raise students’motivation and learning activity by utilizing flash animation media on the Science subject on the topic discussion of “Pengukuran” to the seventh gradestudents of SMP Negeri 3 Percut Sei Tuan. The subjects of the research werethirty students of seventh grade Academic Year 2012/2013 that consist of 15males and 15 females. The object of the research was how to raise thestudents’ motivation and learning activity by utilizing flash animation mediabased on the STAD theory. The result reveals that: (1) there is an averagerise of the students’ learning completeness which is indicated by (a) the test result in the first stage completes 63.33%, (b) the test-result in the secondstage completes 86.70% and the index gain is 0.32% which raises mediumcriteria. (2) Students learning activity is found rose which is indicated by theincreasing average percentage of 72.40 in the first stage becomes 88.48 inthe second stage. (3) There is an increasing number of students learningmotivation which is known that students’ motivation in the attentioncondition rises as much as 28.44% from 52.89% in the first stage becomes81.33% in the second stage, there is an increasing number in the relevancecondition as much as 23.67% from 64.75% in the first stage becomes88.42% in the second stage, there is an increasing number in the confidencecondition as much as 30.86% from 57.71% in the first stage become 88.57%in the second stage, on the satisfaction condition; there is also increasingnumber as much as 23.58% from 65.33% in the first stage becomes 88.92%in the second stage.

Due to the wide spread of COVID-19, the educational institutes were closed on 20th March, 2020 and the individuals were advised to isolate themselves at home. This lockdown not only adversely affected the economy but all the educational activities were shut down which created a huge gap in students’ learning and knowledge all over the globe. This quantitative study was designed to explore the impact of COVID-19 on the education of higher level students in the context of Pakistan. The five point Likert Scale questionnaire was provided to the learners enrolled in intermediate, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level. 74 respondents respond to the questionnaire. The data were analyzed through SPSS 23. The results of the findings revealed that students have been facing a lot of difficulty to grasp certain concepts during e-classes. The students lacked internet access along with not been given any prior guidance related to the usage of online platform. The challenges regarding online classes at the same time are being faced by the teachers as well along with the students. It was also analyzed that although teachers are providing all the necessary resources and feedback to the students but still students have been going through difficulties in grasping the concept, gaining knowledge and communicating with their teachers online. Due to immense number of online classes teachers have a huge workload on their part.

Highly purified intravenous immunoglobulin G concentrate (IV IgG) was produced with the use of polyethylene glycol associated to a single-stage precipitation by ethanol, instead of the classic Cohn-Oncley process, which employs cold alcohol as the precipitating agent, in a three-stage process. Precipitation of crude fraction containing more than 95% of immunoglobulin G was performed by liquid chromatography with a cation exchanger, CM-Sepharose, as a stationary phase. During the process, the product was subjected to two-stage viral inactivation. The first stage was performed by the action of sodium caprylate, 30 mM at pH 5.1+/- 0.1, and the second stage was performed by the action of a solvent-detergent mixture. The finished product was formulated at 5% with 10% sucralose as the stabilizing agent. The process yields 3.3g of IgG/liter of plasma. The finished product analysis showed an anti-complementary activity lower than 1CH50. Polymer and aggregate percent levels were lower than 3% in the five batches studied. The analysis of neutralizing capacity showed the presence of antibacterial and antiviral antibodies in at least three times higher concentrations than the levels found in source plasma. The finished product fulfilled all purity requirements stated in the 4th edition of the European pharmacopeia.

Abstract This paper focuses on the better performance between the garment simulation result and the simulation speed. For simplicity and clarity, a notation “PART” is defined to indicate the areas between the garment and the human body satisfying some constraints. The discrete mechanical model can be achieved by the two-stage process. In the first stage, the garment can be divided into several PARTs constrained by the distance. In the second stage, the mechanical model of each PART is formulated with a mathematical expression. Thus, the mechanical model of the garment can be obtained. Through changing the constrained distance, the simulation result and the simulation speed can be observed. From the variable distance, a desired value can be chosen for an optimal value. The results of simulations and experiments demonstrate that the better performance can be achieved at a higher speed by saving runtime with the acceptable simulation results and the efficiency of the proposed scheme can be verified as well.

The development of the preinfective stages of S. lupi has been described and illustrated and the details of morphology given for the first time.The sex of the first stage juveniles can be distinguished by locating the position of the genital primordium. On an average, the first stage juveniles measure 0·39 mm. in length and 0·036 mm. in breadth, early second stage 0·78 and 0·044 mm. and the advanced second stage 1·40 mm. and 0·63 mm. respectively. The second stage juveniles obtained from beetles were not infective to dogs.

Graphite has been oxidized to graphite hydrogensulfate with (NH4)2S2Og in concentrated H2SO4. The stage 2 compound formed very rapidly, but further oxidation to stage 1 could be followed conveniently. X-ray diffraction of the intermediate phases showed nonintegral (00l)-reflections indicative of partial interstratification disorder. The interlayer spacing of the stage 1 compound increased with continued oxidation. The degree of oxidation as function of oxidation time has been determined from the position of the minima in the reflectance spectra. The density of the compounds and the ratio of acid molecules to anions in the intercalated layers has been estimated using these data and those of buoyancy measurements. There is a minimum in packing density early in the formation of the first stage. The kinetics of intercalation seems to be first order with respect to the free interlayer spaces.

A multi-stage process for treatment of CTMP effluent has been developed. It comprises primary settling and four biological stages. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide, a compound which is toxic to anaerobic bacteria, is reduced in the first biological stage by means of the biocatalytic action of biomass that is recycled from the following acidogenic and/or aerobic stages. The second stage is an acidogenic stage, in which volatile fatty acids are formed and remaining peroxide is decomposed. A mixture of aluminum, iron and calcium salts is added to the effluent in order to detoxify compounds which are toxic to methanogenic bacteria. The main part of the COD and BOD removal takes place in the third stage, the methanogenic stage, after which follows an aerobic stage for polishing and removal of bad-smelling compounds. The COD and BOD7 removals in the anaerobic part of the process are 60 and 90 %, respectively, and the methane yield is 0.20-0.25 Nm3/kg COD removed.

Tequila vinasses is a mixture made from up to six still distillation two-stage process residual effluents. First stage fractions: residual must (60%), heads (0.9%) and tails (20.0%); second stage fractions: non-evaporated (8.0%), heads (0.1%) and tails (1.0%); the result is a more complex effluent for its treatment or biorefining. The objectives of this study were to: (a) characterize the five still distillation volatile streams in the Tequila 100% Agave processing; compounds: methanol, ethanol, acetaldehyde, ethyl acetate, sec-butanol, n-propanol, iso-butanol, n-butanol, iso-amyl, n-amyl, and ethyl lactate were detected by gas chromatography; calculated chemical oxygen demand from chemical composition had very high values (53,760–1,239,220 mg/L); measurement of pH (3.24–4.80), color (38.6 UC Pt-Co max), turbidity (46.1 max), electrical conductivity (3.30–172.20 μS/cm), and solid content (0 mg/L) was also made; (b) report an energy analysis (2.02 × 109 KWh) and CO2 production (429 × 106 kg) in the Tequila industry during 2019; (c) up to date residues (365.2 × 106 kg agave bagasse, 1146.1 × 106 kg agave leaves and 3300.0 × 106 L agave vinasse) in 2019; (d) economic analysis, current tequila vinasses treatment price is 16.00 USD/m3 but could reach a considerable fraction value if is bio-refined, a break down component analysis reach for five volatile streams $51.23–$140.00 USD/m3.

Purpose To encourage buyers to contribute product reviews, some online sellers offer monetary rewards. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of monetary rewards on buyers’ purchase decisions and review contributions, as well as the impact on the seller’s price decisions and profit. Design/methodology/approach The authors consider an online seller in a two-stage setting. Prior to Stage 1, the profit-maximizing seller sets the price and decides whether to offer a monetary reward secretly to motivate online reviews. Then, a continuum of buyers arrives and makes purchase decisions at the beginning of each stage. First-stage buyers may contribute reviews if they are satisfied, which will affect demand in the second stage. Using this analytical framework, the authors analyze the impact of monetary rewards. Findings If the monetary reward is small, it decreases the seller’s profit and fails to generate more reviews. It also increases price, leading to a decline in total demand. Thus, when the reward is lower than a certain threshold, all buyers are worse off. Only when the reward exceeds the threshold are buyers who contribute reviews better off. Profit and total demand both increase in review quality, while the price may either increase or decrease in it. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first to analyze theoretically the impact of monetary rewards on buyers’ purchase decisions, review contributions and on online sellers’ decisions.
