AbstractTwitter and social media as a whole have great potential as a source of disease surveillance data however the general messiness of tweets presents several challenges for standard information extraction methods. Most deployed systems employ approaches that rely on simple keyword matching and do not distinguish between relevant and irrelevant keyword mentions making them susceptible to false positives as a result of the fact that keyword volume can be influenced by several social phenomena that may be unrelated to disease occurrence. Furthermore, most solutions are intended for a single language and those meant for multilingual scenarios do not incorporate semantic context. In this paper we experimentally examine different approaches for classifying text for epidemiological surveillance on the social web in addition we offer a systematic comparison of the impact of different input representations on performance. Specifically we compare continuous representations against one-hot encoding for word-based, class-based (ontology-based) and subword units in the form of byte pair encodings. We also go on to establish the desirable performance characteristics for multi-lingual semantic filtering approaches and offer an in-depth discussion of the implications for end-to-end surveillance.

The social web has emerged as a dominant information architecture accelerating technology innovation on an unprecedented scale. The utility of these developments to public health use cases like disease surveillance, information dissemination, outbreak prediction and so forth has been widely investigated and variously demonstrated in work spanning several published experimental studies and deployed systems. In this paper we provide an overview of automated disease surveillance efforts based on the social web characterized by their different high level design choices regarding functional aspects like user participation and language parsing approaches. We briefly discuss the technical rationale and practical implications of these different choices in addition to the key limitations associated with these systems within the context of operable disease surveillance. We hope this can offer some technical guidance to multi-disciplinary teams on how best to implement, interpret and evaluate disease surveillance programs based on the social web.

The discipline of software engineering has been gaining significance in computer science and engineering education. The technological environment in which software engineering education (SEE) resides and thrives has also been changing over the past few years. A technological revitalization of SEE requires a considerate examination from human and social perspectives. This chapter studies the impact of integrating Social Web technologies and applications based on these technologies in collaborative activities pertaining to SEE. In particular, teacher–student and student–student collaborations, both inside and outside the classroom, are highlighted. In doing so, the feasibility issues in selection and adoption of technologies/applications are emphasized and the use of pedagogically-inclined patterns is made. The potential prospects of such an integration and related concerns are illustrated by practical examples

Conflict is one of the social phenomena that continues to exist in human life. Conflict usually comes from several aspects such as social change, differences in authority (authority), differences in interests and cultural differences. Because Indonesia is a very diverse country of pluralism it is a variety of ethnic and ethnic diversity. Such diversity and diversity can lead to ethnic conflict. Simply put, this article will analyze the causes of conflict between ethnic Dayak and Madura in West Kalimantan, especially in Samalantan sub-district, how the impact will be caused by the conflict between Dayak ethnic with Madura in Samalantan, and also the attitude or action of the government to the conflict. In writing this scientific paper the author uses the method of literature study that comes from books or various articles that according to the author can support this writing. And based on the author’s analysis of the conflict between Dayak ethnic with Madura in Samalantan. Apparently the conflict in Samalantan has happened more than ten times, can not be added with certainty. The background of the conflict occurred because of the lack of government role in providing information to the Madura who will migrate to the island of Borneo about the customs, culture, and things that are not liked by the Dayaks when incoming by ethnic immigrants. The government's action to resolve the conflict is to facilitate the meeting between the two Dayak ethnic groups with Madura. But the impact of the conflict is certainly there are positive and negative, the positive Madurese become independent, and the Dayak negatively arise casualties.

Religion and traditional performing arts in Bali are two fields that are not separated as cultural identities that make Bali famous in the eyes of the world and admired as being able to create peace and prosperity. Based on consideration of Hinduism and the traditional performing arts, tourists arrive to visit Bali. Therefore this paper aims to analyze the relationship between Hinduism and traditional performing arts and its relation to tourism development, as well as the impact it has on the social phenomena of Balinese society. There is an interest in maintaining the relationship of Hinduism with traditional performing arts as part of a whole religious ceremony with the development of tourism, but there is a very strong stream of commercialization, which can destabilize the relationship between Hinduism and the life of the performing arts. This inequality is a problem that needs to be studied because it is not uncommon for the packaging of sacred art to become a tourist art, thereby reducing the importance of traditional performing arts’ sacredness. The effort to counteract the aforementioned problem will be the main focus that will be studied in this paper. The method used to examine the problems above is qualitative research methods based on the historical paradigm. The historical paradigm understands changes through sources, documents, artifacts, texts on performing arts and observations and interviews in connection with the current conditions. As an analytical tool, the concepts of ideology, communication and acceptance are used. The results of this writing indicate that there is a cultural ideology, namely the classification of performing art and the concept of cultural tourism to counteract the negative influence of tourism on Hindu religious life and Balinese culture.
