Abstract Many organizations, at some point or another, have to face a crisis situation. In that scenario, the way in which the organization communicates makes or breaks the organization’s success in dealing with the crisis. Especially after the emergence of the social media, the impact of crisis communication on the process of successful crisis management has become even greater than before. Organizations have to take the initiative, to be proactive and create a plan for crisis communication. This paper is focused on the comparative study of the communication approaches followed by Cadbury and McDonalds during a period when the companies were dealing with a crisis. The findings of the content analysis show that a company should respond to the crisis as quickly as possible to avoid loss in terms of sales. The initial statement of the companies during a crisis should be clear, positive and through the right channel to help the company regain its reputation on the market. Advertising is the best way to convey the message across the world because the crisis situation that has come up in one market can soon catch-up in the other markets where the company operates. The company has to connect with the consumers on emotional grounds because the crisis breaks down the faith of the consumers in the company. The recovery actions that support the statements also play an important role during the crisis situation. By following the above-mentioned communication strategies, organizations can achieve damage control as well as turn the crisis into an opportunity to grow.

Abstract This paper is the second from the “Salon Series on the Creation of Legislation on the Right of Association and Social Organizations”. This was a series of salons jointly hosted by Tsinghua University’s ngo Research Center, the Philanthropy and ngo Support Center, and the editorial office of the China Nonprofit Review. The formulation of a basic law on social organizations is an important issue for China’s social sector, and particularly for the social organization sector. It is also one of the conditions necessary for a transformation in the way social organizations are managed, from the current form of governance, which is achieved through administrative regulations, to management by ‘rule of law’ in the truest sense. Recently, in academic circles, many different lines of thought have developed about the formulation of a basic law for social organizations, including the argument for ‘governance through administrative law’, which adopts a public law perspective; the argument for ‘special civil laws’, which approaches the question from the perspective of private law; and the argument for a ‘combination of legal forms’. This paper explores the content of a basic law, as well as the objectives, nature of and skills involved in formulating such a law. It examines the necessity and feasibility of creating such legislation, and the key ideas that need to be transformed during the legislative process. At the same time, the paper considers the differences between this and the thinking behind other legislation such as the charity law.

Firstly, an overview on the RtW inlaconstitutions is provided and the impact of the findings is highlighted. The mainlawater management systems are then reviewed with an acknowledgment that an analysis of the RtW has to take account of its application in specific contexts. The intrinsic connection between the RtW and the role of the private sector is examined through specific insights into the highly privatized Chilean water services. Lessons learnt from thelaexperience are outlined in the conclusion and their relevance for the global debate on the RtW is illustrated.

Abstract This paper focuses on the impact of the creation of the new administrative French region «Occitanie – Pyrénées, Méditerranée» under the social representations of the Occitan linguistic space point of view. This new region was created in 2016 by the union of two former regions, Midi-Pyrénées and Languedoc-Roussillon, and does not correspond precisely to the linguistic and historical Occitanie. Therefore, the name of the new region could delegitimize both the name and the linguistic practices – indeed, already remarkably jeopardized.

In the article, the definition and classification tendencies of the «euphemism» concept are taken into consideration. In the study of any linguistic concept, the creation of a theoretical and methodological basis is of fundamental importance. This basis can be used for a deeper analysis of the phenomenon itself, as well as for the comparative analysis of the notion with regard to other linguistic elements. However, if it is a challenge just to define the phenomenon, then further studies – at horizontal and vertical levels, synchronously or diachronically – will cause significant difficulties. The main problem of euphemism definition lies in the fact that this phenomenon is a multi-functional and multi-structural element. It can be represented in different forms, for instance, words or word-combinations. A single euphemistic construction can be considered as a part of another group of the language vocabulary. In the article, the main highlight is devoted to the English euphemistic constructions, but the author also mentions the connection of euphemism realization in different languages. This feature allows considering euphemism a language universal. Since the article substantiates the euphemisms’ being a linguistic universal, the author also mentions about the connection between the euphemistic vocabulary and other language layers. The article highlights the impact of such a connection on the problem of defining the term «euphemism». The article is focused on structuring the phenomenon and determining the main functions of the euphemisms’ use. Among the characteristic features of euphemisms, there is the replacement of direct nomination as a result of a historically and socially motivated ban on its use, as well as the presence of authorial self-censorship, if the use of a direct name contradicts the pragmatic intentions of the addressee. The use of euphemisms allows a speaker (a so-called owner of the message) to avoid focusing on the negative sides of the information, to change the communicative situation and make it advantageous and beneficial for the addressee, to manipulate and to form the response of the massage’s recipients. The author identifies the reasons that hinder the creation of a unified classification base and generally unified concept of «euphemism». Moreover, the author states that euphemisms as a linguistic universal are an integral part of a language system (English as well). Their peculiarities are manifested in the daily language, both its written and spoken forms, that is, this linguistic phenomenon is a clear example of the two-way interaction of the social development processes and the people’s worldview principles.
