In attacking the problem of the relationship of endocrine function to the schizophrenias and other mental diseases, we have avoided the elementary conception that certain hormones are responsible for special psychological traits and have reached the following conclusions. First, the quality of the mental disturbance depends mainly on a genetically conditioned personality pattern, various individuals reacting in different ways to the precipitating causes. Second, the hormones come into the whole picture only in so far as the hormone equilibrium of the body determines how far the individual can adjust himself to the increased demands arising out of the occurrence of various precipitating causes (Reiss, 1955). It is therefore understandable that very many, or even the majority of people suffering from severe endocrine disturbance, need not necessarily show any psychopathological changes, since their personality pattern is not so conditioned and no increased demands for adjustment are made by the occurrence of precipitating causes. On the other hand, it is equally understandable that certain disturbances in hormone production and equilibrium, even when clinically obscure, can be decisive for mental breakdown in individuals with the appropriate personality pattern, at the occurrence of precipitating causes.

The book’s epilogue explores the place of musical portraiture in the context of posthumous depictions of the deceased, and in relation to the so-called posthuman condition, which describes contemporary changes in the relationship of the individual with such aspects of life as technology and the body. It first examines Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo to view how Bernard Herrmann’s score relates to issues of portraiture and the depiction of the identity of the deceased. It then considers the work of cyborg composer-artist Neil Harbisson, who has aimed, through the use of new capabilities of hybridity between the body and technology, to convey something akin to visual likeness in his series of Sound Portraits. The epilogue shows how an examination of contemporary views of posthumous and posthuman identities helps to illuminate the ways music represents the self throughout the genre of musical portraiture.

Through academia, professional disciplines seek – whenever possible – to base their actions on theory rather than fact and historical practices. This serves to improve certainty and place curricula, research, and practice on the best footing in terms of knowledge and quality. This emphasis extends to the workplaces in which professionalised disciplines are learned and practised. In healthcare, great importance is placed upon evidence-based findings to support clinical practice. Although subject to ongoing debate, the quality of research is assessed against a yardstick that culminates in a ‘gold-standard’ of clinical trials and systematic reviews. What healthcare professionals do, should, whenever possible, be based upon evidence, not ritualised practices and missives, such as “I was trained this way” and “This is how we do things here”.How to cite this article: Jones P. The article explores the relationship of the person with the hole through both literal and metaphorical situations. On the one hand, it points up the body in seclusion and suspended in a time interval, as in the case of the accident at the mine in San José (Chile) or works by artists like J. Wall, G. Schneider or R. Ondák. In this way, opposed feelings evoke the experiences of waiting and/or punishment, which are explanatory of a confined body or a hole. Literature, cinema and art deal with these events from multiple aspects, which become existential allegories about the individual. On the other hand, the act of digging gains prominence as a symbol of work, but also of the absurd. Recalling the ambivalence that may suggest a person making a hole, this article carries out a drift through works by artists of different generations and contexts, such as C. Burden, M. Heizer, F. Miralles, Geliti, S. Sierra, F. Alÿs, M. Salum, X. Ristol or N. Güell. A series of clearly performative or conceptual works, where the act of digging, drilling, burying or unburying become common practices that show the diversity of meanings and intentions.

This chapter discusses the relationship of the state to its subjects as necessarily physically embodied beings. The primary way in which the commonwealth commands its subjects is through the medium of its law. The law is for the common good and obliges the community as a whole, and thus the ontological status of the law—as distinct from any particular command of a superior to an individual—is intimately tied to that of the body politic. The question, then, concerning the relationship of the state to the natural body of the individual can be framed in terms of the extent of the obligation of the civil law.

Professions aimed at helping and supporting a person in a difficult situation, with their traditions and principles of assisting activities, have existed since ancient times. The main purpose of the helping professions is to improve the quality of life of the person who sought help and to activate his inner potential. The importance of existential problems and their solution in the way of the professions plays a special role, since only a harmonious person who has reached agreement with himself and the outside world can fully open up in the profession. Despite the individual specifics of each profession; regardless of the direction of his work, the helper must have not only a certain set of personal qualities and a proper level of professional knowledge, but also an understanding, awareness and acceptance of the level of responsibility that he bears for what is happening in the work process. The study describes the relationship of future aid specialists to existential problems, professional responsibility and future profession.

This article reviews and summarizes two decades of empirical literature concerned with both direct and moderating variable-based analyses of the relationship of organizational stress with job satisfaction and job performance. Moderating influences of various constructs operationalized at the individual, group and organizational level of analysis are classified and then reviewed systematically. An evaluative summary of this research suggests that although there have been significant improvements in the analytical methods employed to investigate such phenomena, much of this research still does not consider the role of reciprocal relationships that evolve over time. We provide four guidelines for improving the quality of both theoretical rigor and methodological robustness in this important area of organizational inquiry.

The manner in which one acts or behaves in response to environment, person or stimulus that is external or internal, covert or overt and voluntary or involuntary is the behavior of an individual. Behavior is determined by his or her personality (is the set of psychological traits and mechanisms with the individual that are organized and relatively enduring and that influences his or her interactions with, and adaptation to, the intra psychic, physical ,and social environments). Personality is determined by various factors, these factors are examined by different researchers and psychologists, various models came out of it, Big Five-Factor Model (Costa & Mc Crae,1995 ) is one among them .An individual possessing specific traits behave specially in the society. Individuals moving towards people and society when they are in need are performing prosocial behavior (refers to acts that are positively valued by society). In our culture helping others is socially valued. Thus helpful responses are a form of prosocial behavior. Empirical work has been done to examine the relationship of prosocial behavior and personality traits. This paper presents the theoretical review of the relationship between prosocial behavior and Big Five-Factor Model of Personality, from last fifteen years.

With the body, the individual suspects the world, affects and is affected by it, builds relationships, signifies and expresses existence. What do the bodies of babies and adults say about each other? Based mainly on Wallonian Psychology and Lebretonian Anthropology, this article presents partial results of a doctoral research that aims to analyze narratives about/with the body woven in the interactions between teachers and babies. The data, resulting from the observation of a group of babies with their teachers, were generated through written and photographic records, focusing on different moments of the routine, later appreciated and discussed in meetings with the teachers. For the analysis presented here, relational movements composed by the gestures produced between babies and teachers were observed in the environment outside the reference room. It was preliminarily noted that the quality of the relationship established between them was fundamental to activate the discovery of the body, in the experimentation of space, textures, shapes and flavors.

Palavras-chave: Extroversão, Introversão, Personalidade, Educação a Distância. The Relation of Interactive Educational tasks with the Personality Traits of Teachers Working with Distance EducationAbstract The knowledge of individual characteristics is very important in the teaching process. Among these characteristics, the personality of teachers working with Distance Education (DE) is a factor that can affect the quality of this process. The purposes of this study were to analyze the personality traits of teachers working with Distance Education; verify the relation of tasks and functions required by this education model with the individual characteristics and examine how teachers see themselves as your personality and your relationship in the performance of different educational tasks in virtual environments. Six teachers answered two questionnaires: the first to check the personality trait; the second, to verify the relationship of personality to the interactive educational tasks. The results indicated that extrovert teachers chose jobs with greater social demands, and introvert teachers had higher scores on tasks with cognitive demands. Moreover, most teachers believe that their individual characteristics may interfere with the performance of theirs activities. Despite the few significant differences, it can be concluded that the work in a Distance Education team can be improved through knowledge of the personality traits of each teacher, with tasks being performing according to their main features. Keywords: Extroversion, Introversion, Personality, Distance Education.

Loligo chinensis is one type of squid that has economic value crucial in the Tambak Lorok Semarang. Squid production mainly comes from nature, high fishing effort can cause a decrease in squid resource stock. The purpose of this study is to know the biological aspect L.chinensis in the Tambak Lorok include long weight relationships, condition factors, and the quality of alometry growth. The study was carried out in June-July 2020. The data analysis used is simple linear regression from the PM’s log (mantle length) and log W (weight) to know the relationship of its weight length. The relationship value between total length and total weight of L.chinensis has a W = 0,00048L2,4921 equation for the entire sample, W = 3,237L0,84 in the female and W = 3,29L0,827 in the male with slope (b) 2,4921; 0,84; and 0,827. Value slope shows the growths L.chinensis is negative alometrice. The value of the condition factor (Kn) = 1,064 in the entire sample, Kn = 1,713 in the female and Kn = 1,63 in the male. The value suggests that the species is thick-skinned. The growth of the mantle length (PM) of L.chinensis grows slower than other organs of the body, except for its total weight.
