322 Background: Natural language processing (NLP) algorithms can be leveraged to better understand prevailing themes in healthcare conversations. Sentiment analysis, an NLP technique to analyze and interpret sentiments from text, has been validated on Twitter in tracking natural disasters and disease outbreaks. To establish its role in healthcare discourse, we sought to explore the feasibility and accuracy of sentiment analysis on Twitter posts (‘’tweets’’) related to prior authorizations (PAs), a common occurrence in oncology built to curb payer-concerns about costs of cancer care, but which can obstruct timely and appropriate care and increase administrative burden and clinician frustration. Methods: We identified tweets related to PAs between 03/09/2021-04/29/2021 using pre-specified keywords [e.g., #priorauth etc.] and used Twarc, a command-line tool and Python library for archiving Twitter JavaScript Object Notation data. We performed sentiment analysis using two NLP models: (1) TextBlob (trained on movie reviews); and (2) VADER (trained on social media). These models provide results as polarity, a score between 0-1, and a sentiment as ‘’positive’’ (>0), ‘’neutral’’ (exactly 0), or ‘’negative’’ (<0). We (AG, NP) manually reviewed all tweets to give the ground truth (human interpretation of reality) including a notation for sarcasm since models are not trained to detect sarcasm. We calculated the precision (positive predictive value), recall (sensitivity), and the F1-Score (measure of accuracy, range 0-1, 0=failure, 1=perfect) for the models vs. the ground truth. Results: After preprocessing, 964 tweets (mean 137/ week) met our inclusion criteria for sentiment analysis. The two existing NLP models labeled 42.4%- 43.3% tweets as positive, as compared to the ground truth (5.6% tweets positive). F-1 scores of models across labels ranged from 0.18-0.54. We noted sarcasm in 2.8% of tweets. Detailed results in Table. Conclusions: We demonstrate the feasibility of performing sentiment analysis on a topic of high interest within clinical oncology and the deficiency of existing NLP models to capture sentiment within oncologic Twitter discourse. Ongoing iterations of this work further train these models through better identification of the tweeter (patient vs. health care worker) and other analytics from shared content.[Table: see text]

In this sense, we present our work related to the application of Natural Language Processing techniques, as a tool to analyze the sentiment perception of users who answered two questions from the CSQ-8 questionnaires with raw Spanish free-text. Their responses are related to mindfulness, which is a novel technique used to control stress and anxiety caused by different factors in daily life. As such, we proposed an online course where this method was applied in order to improve the quality of life of health care professionals in COVID 19 pandemic times. We also carried out an evaluation of the satisfaction level of the participants involved, with a view to establishing strategies to improve future experiences. To automatically perform this task, we used Natural Language Processing (NLP) models such as swivel embedding, neural networks, and transfer learning, so as to classify the inputs into the following three categories: negative, neutral, and positive. Due to the limited amount of data available—86 registers for the first and 68 for the second—transfer learning techniques were required. The length of the text had no limit from the user’s standpoint, and our approach attained a maximum accuracy of 93.02% and 90.53%, respectively, based on ground truth labeled by three experts. Finally, we proposed a complementary analysis, using computer graphic text representation based on word frequency, to help researchers identify relevant information about the opinions with an objective approach to sentiment. The main conclusion drawn from this work is that the application of NLP techniques in small amounts of data using transfer learning is able to obtain enough accuracy in sentiment analysis and text classification stages.

A year into the COVID-19 pandemic and one of the longest recorded lockdowns in the world, the Philippines received its first delivery of COVID-19 vaccines on 1 March 2021 through WHO’s COVAX initiative. A month into inoculation of all frontline health professionals and other priority groups, the authors of this study gathered data on the sentiment of Filipinos regarding the Philippine government’s efforts using the social networking site Twitter. Natural language processing techniques were applied to understand the general sentiment, which can help the government in analyzing their response. The sentiments were annotated and trained using the Naïve Bayes model to classify English and Filipino language tweets into positive, neutral, and negative polarities through the RapidMiner data science software. The results yielded an 81.77% accuracy, which outweighs the accuracy of recent sentiment analysis studies using Twitter data from the Philippines.

To date, there is a paucity of research conducting natural language processing (NLP) on the open-ended responses of behavior rating scales. Using three NLP lexicons for sentiment analysis of the open-ended responses of the Behavior Assessment System for Children-Third Edition, the researchers discovered a moderately positive correlation between the human composite rating and the sentiment score using each of the lexicons for strengths comments and a slightly positive correlation for the concerns comments made by guardians and teachers. In addition, the researchers found that as the word count increased for open-ended responses regarding the child’s strengths, there was a greater positive sentiment rating. Conversely, as word count increased for open-ended responses regarding child concerns, the human raters scored comments more negatively. The authors offer a proof-of-concept to use NLP-based sentiment analysis of open-ended comments to complement other data for clinical decision making.

Word embeddings have been successfully applied in many natural language processing tasks due to its their effectiveness. However, the state-of-the-art algorithms for learning word representations from large amounts of text documents ignore emotional information, which is a significant research problem that must be addressed. To solve the above problem, we propose an emotional word embedding (EWE) model for sentiment analysis in this paper. This method first applies pre-trained word vectors to represent document features using two different linear weighting methods. Then, the resulting document vectors are input to a classification model and used to train a text sentiment classifier, which is based on a neural network. In this way, the emotional polarity of the text is propagated into the word vectors. The experimental results on three kinds of real-world data sets demonstrate that the proposed EWE model achieves superior performances on text sentiment prediction, text similarity calculation, and word emotional expression tasks compared to other state-of-the-art models.

Text Sentiment analysis is the process of predicting whether a segment of text has opinionated or objective content and analyzing the polarity of the text’s sentiment. Understanding the needs and behavior of the target customer plays a vital role in the success of the business so the sentiment analysis process would help the marketer to improve the quality of the product as well as a shopper to buy the correct product. Due to its automatic learning capability, deep learning is the current research interest in Natural language processing. Skip-gram architecture is used in the proposed model for better extraction of the semantic relationships as well as contextual information of words. However, the main contribution of this work is Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO) algorithm based LSTM for sentiment analysis. LSTM is used in the proposed model for understanding complex patterns in textual data. To improve the performance of the LSTM, weight parameters are enhanced by presenting the Adaptive PSO algorithm. Opposition based learning (OBL) method combined with PSO algorithm becomes the Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO) classifier which assists LSTM in selecting optimal weight for the environment in less number of iterations. So APSO - LSTM ‘s ability in adjusting the attributes such as optimal weights and learning rates combined with the good hyper parameter choices leads to improved accuracy and reduces losses. Extensive experiments were conducted on four datasets proved that our proposed APSO-LSTM model secured higher accuracy over the classical methods such as traditional LSTM, ANN, and SVM. According to simulation results, the proposed model is outperforming other existing models.

Aspect-based sentiment analysis has been studied in both research and industrial communities over recent years. For the low-resource languages, the standard benchmark corpora play an important role in the development of methods. In this article, we introduce two benchmark corpora with the largest sizes at sentence-level for two tasks: Aspect Category Detection and Aspect Polarity Classification in Vietnamese. Our corpora are annotated with high inter-annotator agreements for the restaurant and hotel domains. The release of our corpora would push forward the low-resource language processing community. In addition, we deploy and compare the effectiveness of supervised learning methods with a single and multi-task approach based on deep learning architectures. Experimental results on our corpora show that the multi-task approach based on BERT architecture outperforms the neural network architectures and the single approach. Sentiment or emotion behind a tweet from Twitter or a post from Facebook can help us answer what opinions or feedback a person has. With the advent of growing user-generated blogs, posts and reviews across various social media and online retails, calls for an understanding of these afore mentioned user data acts as a catalyst in building Recommender systems and drive business plans. User reviews on online retail stores influence buying behavior of customers and thus complements the ever-growing need of sentiment analysis. Machine Learning helps us to read between the lines of tweets by proving us with various algorithms like Naïve Bayes, SVM, etc. Sentiment Analysis uses Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to extract, classify and analyze tweets for sentiments (emotions). There are various packages and frameworks in R and Python that aid in Sentiment Analysis or Text Mining in general.

As Covid-19 spreads to other nations and governments attempt to minimize its effect by introducing countermeasures, individuals have often used social media outlets to share their opinions on the measures themselves, the leaders implementing them, and the ways in which their lives are shifting. Sentiment analysis refers to the application in source materials of natural language processing, computational linguistics, and text analytics to identify and classify subjective opinions. The reason why this research uses a sentiment case study towards Trump and Jokowi's policies is because Jokowi and Trump have similarities in handling Covid-19. Indonesia and the US are still low in the discipline in implementing health protocols. The data collection period was chosen on September 21 - October 21 2020 because during that period, the top 5 trending on Twitter included # covid19, #jokowi, #miglobal, #trump, and #donaldtrump. So, this period is most appropriate for taking data and discussing the handling of Covid-19 by Jokowi and Trump. The result shows both Jokowi and Trump have higher negative sentiments than positive sentiments during the period. Trump had issued a controversial statement regarding the handling of Covid-19. This research is limited to the sentiment generated by the policies conveyed by the US and Indonesian Governments via @jokowi and @realDonaldTrump Twitter Account. The dataset presented in this research is being collected and analyzed using the Brand24, a software-automated sentiment analysis. Further research can increase the scope of the data and increase the timeframe for data collection and develop tools for analyzing sentiment.
