In this paper, we present a novel DC-centric architecture of telecommunication networks for next generation Internet. Data flow become the major traffic in existing telecommunication networks. Traditional computer networks and telecom networks meet many challenges in high-quality service, innovation, evolution, and management. Based on analysis existing telecom networks’ challenges, a DC-centric telecom network architecture with splitting the data plane from the control plane is proposed. The DC-centric telecom network is a widely-distributed data center network (DCN), which is composed of thousands of public or private DCs. Each DC not only plays the role of storage and computing, but also is a network node of data aggregation, switching, and routing. We also design an optical switching, which is evaluated by experiment.

Over the past couple of years, the Internet has taken off and organizations will soon reap economic benefits on it. E-commerce will therefore hopefully emerge as an efficient yet effective mode of creating new markets although most managers still doubt the economic impact and profitability it has. Enabled by global telecommunication networks and the convergence of computing, telecom, entertainment and publishing industries, e-commerce is supplanting (maybe replacing) traditional commerce. In the process, it is creating new economic opportunities for today’s businesses, creating new market structures. Managers of tomorrow must therefore understand what e-commerce is; how the approach to this concept will be; and how it will affect the economic position of the organization.

The role of development communications is not only a balance between central government, regional or program policies and activities that support increasing community participation, and supporting national policy, as well as private sector interests. Development communication has experienced the development of the digital era, but there is still disparity between regions in the implementation. Inequality of information systems in the development of information technology in Indonesia, has hampered the pace of development in the region. One of the forms of development communication in the digital era is the government of electronic governance (e-gov), which involves information technology and communication to improve public services and community and to increase their participation in governance of certain public sector investments. The development of gov Indonesia goes slowly and significantly, there are still many regencies / cities that have not done it yet. The main obstacle in the implementation of e-gov is the access of telecommunication networks, and internet network that is still unevenly available in various places in Indonesia

In this paper we consider the influence of a call forwarding service on the traffic process in modern telecommunication networks. We analyse in detail only the case when the called user is busy. It is proved that call forwarding not only increases utilization of servers and the percent of successful calls but it also increases the call loss. On the simple example, we showed that this call loss increase is greater in the case of local (internal) and incoming calls, but smaller in the case of outgoing calls. The reason for such behaviour is in the role of call forwarding function in the case of internal and incoming traffic. In that situation call forwarding function decreases the effect of limited number of users on the decrease of offered traffic, comparing to the case of internal and incoming traffic without call forwarding (Engset traffic model). This statement is illustrated by comparative graphics of traffic loss without call forwarding function, and with this function when considering, separately, internal, incoming, and outgoing traffic.

This chapter examines innovative telecommunications connectivity options, in particular fiber optic submarine cable and satellite systems, emerging on the African continent and asks how they can contribute not only to improved telecommunications, but also to the broader development of information infrastructure within the region. It is argued that if less developed countries and regions are to implement telecommunication networks and information services that will serve their interests, they must prioritize development objectives that rest firmly in their particular economic, political, cultural and social context.

The ethnocultural diversity of regional development often becomes a factor in the disunity and impedes the processes of social and economic integration. The authors identify factors contributing to social cohesion at the macro-, mezo- and microlevels. Digitalization is a new factor in this system, which leads to a new society, new economy, and new system of integrative values. Most studies recognize the positive role of digital technology in enhancing social cohesion. However, digitalization will become a significant factor in the increase of the level of social cohesion if a critical mass of the population uses the information technology constantly in order to achieve their various goals. The logical question arises as to whether there is currently a digital divide in the multicultural and multiethnic region of Southern Russia. The study is based on the data concerning the use of information technology, information and telecommunication networks by the population. They were collected in the course of federal statistical observations. An analysis of ICT usage indicators in households of the North Caucasian Economic Region allows us to conclude that multi-ethnic subregions in Southern Russia show different degrees of involvement in the processes of digital transformation. Currently, Kabardino-Balkaria and Rostov region are digital leaders of the North Caucasian Economic Region in terms of aggregate indicators of using information and communication technologies. An intermediate position is occupied by Karachay-Cherkessia, Krasnodar and Stavropol krais, which are slightly above average. But there is a significant lag in these indicators in North Ossetia-Alania, Adygea and Dagestan. However, positive trends in digitalization indicators are observed in every North Caucasian federal entity and this should lead to a decrease in digital inequality and an increase in the role of digitalization as a factor in the societal dynamics of multicultural regions in Southern Russia.

AbstractWhitehouse adapts insights from evolutionary anthropology to interpret extreme self-sacrifice through the concept of identity fusion. The model neglects the role of normative systems in shaping behaviors, especially in relation to violent extremism. In peaceful groups, increasing fusion will actually decrease extremism. Groups collectively appraise threats and opportunities, actively debate action options, and rarely choose violence toward self or others.

AbstractIntuitions guide decision-making, and looking to the evolutionary history of humans illuminates why some behavioral responses are more intuitive than others. Yet a place remains for cognitive processes to second-guess intuitive responses – that is, to be reflective – and individual differences abound in automatic, intuitive processing as well.
