Investigation of Sound-Absorbing Material Configuration of a Smart Classroom Utilizing Computer Modeling

Advancements in information and instruction technology have led to the evolution of a new type of classroom referred to as “smart classrooms”. These have enhanced audio-visual equipment, computers and seating layouts designed to facilitate interactive learning. Placement of different sound-absorbing finishes in an efficient manner improves the listening conditions within the classroom and reduces the amplification of internally generated noise such as that from computers and instructional equipment. This study investigates the best overall configuration of sound-absorbing material placement and characteristics of surface treatment in an attempt to enhance the listening conditions in smart classrooms. A typical layout of a smart classroom was modeled and simulated using room acoustics computer modeling. Acoustics indicators such as Reverberation Time (RT), Sound Clarity (C50) and Speech Transmission Index (STI) were used for comparing alternative cases in optimising sound-absorbing material characteristics and placement. Additionally, measurements were conducted in similar classrooms to assess the magnitude and characteristics of generated noise. To determine the impact of the resulting background noise simulations were carried out. The resulting configuration of sound-absorbing material for a typical smart classroom can also be utilized by architects and educational institutions to enhance the acoustics of existing conventional classrooms in the process of being converted or upgraded.

This study aims to examine the determining factors of teachers’ continuance intention to integrate technology in a smart classroom of schools in underserved areas. Smart classrooms provide a supportive learning environment for students by equipping them with advanced multi-functional and mobile technologies. A smart classroom can provide opportunities for teaching and learning by facilitating curriculum implementation and encouraging student success. The sustainable integration of technology in a smart classroom depends on the teacher’s ability to effectively utilize digital technology in the classroom. We assessed teachers’ perceptions of their technology integration by building a research model for sustainable technology integration in an underserved area in South Korea. For this, we included four aspects of teachers’ perceptions: the frequency of technology integration, the effort toward instructional practices, student change, and continuance intention. Data were gathered via a self-administered online survey with a sample of teachers who are participating in a smart school program and were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The findings of the study show that teachers in smart classrooms are motivated to continue technology integration when they experience positive changes among students after employing smart classroom technologies. The research findings can contribute to the efforts of educators, scholars, and policy-makers to pursue sustainable development in underserved area schools.

With the development of emerging technology innovations such as the internet of things, classroom management has also shown an informatization trend. Among them, smart classrooms are an important part of the current university information environment construction. The purpose of this article is to build a smart classroom into an intelligent teaching environment with many functions such as intelligent perception and identification, real-time monitoring based on the internet of things technology and cloud computing technology. A questionnaire survey was conducted among freshman students in some majors, and interviews were conducted with the instructors. It was found that 92.19% of the students were satisfied with the classroom learning in the smart classroom environment, and most teachers thought that the teaching effect had been improved. Experiments have proven that the operation of smart classrooms based on the internet of things and cloud computing realizes the intelligence of teaching management services and improves the level of education informationization in schools.

Corporate social responsibility is one of the activities that goes beyond philanthropy, based on volunteerism in line with the responsibilities of enterprises towards society. This concept, which offers businesses the opportunity to look after and develop their brand image in the eyes of society, has become a necessity, not a choice, especially in today's world. In order to meet social expectations, the effectiveness of static and dynamic advertising messages implemented in all social benefit-based studies for human development such as environment, health and education is very important in terms of ensuring audience communication. In the second half of 2019, people were confined to homes and life came to a standstill all over the world in order to reduce and prevent the impact of the pandemic within the scope of the “New Type Corona Virus” (COVID-19) measures, which are from the sars-cov-2 coronavirus family, which is spreading rapidly globally starting from Wohan, Hubei Province, China. As a basic protection module for humanity against corona virus, it has incorporated the concept of social distancing into their lives in order to reduce the contact of staying at home and increasing hygiene, except in mandatory situations. During this extraordinary period, many brands on a global scale have included the concept of “social distance” in their advertising messages with the awareness of corporate social responsibility and have started to inform and educate the community about this issue by emphasizing the importance of the process. Within the scope of this research, advertising designs prepared by brands acting with corporate social responsibility awareness through the concept of social distancing during the Pandemic period were discussed and how the meaning structures behind the messages were created and transmitted. The research is limited to 3 (three) advertising designs determined by the 'judicial sampling' method (selective method). In the sample of the study, advertising narratives of brands in different sectors were explained in general framework and similar and different aspects of messages were uncovered by performing comparative analysis between messages in line with the findings obtained from the narratives. In this context, it was determined that the contrasts of “pessimism and optimism, hope and despair, happiness and unhappiness, death and life, strong and powerless, youth and old age, unity/togetherness and separation, struggle and defeat, nature and culture” were constructed as the main discourse.

Social networking tools have become an integral part of our daily lives. Recently, a new type of Social Networking Sites (SNSs) namely Academic Social Networking sites (ASNSs) has attracted global users. There is perceived usefulness on the impact of ASNSs on patterns of academic research activities. However, it remains unclear why some researchers do not use ASNSs at all. The purpose of this paper is therefore to explore the ASNSs usage among Malaysian academic researchers and to investigate benefits, specific purpose, drivers and barriers of using ASNSs. A total of 210 completed cases were collected through paper-based and online-based questionnaire. In order to show the outcome of the research, descriptive interpretation of data is performed. The overall findings of this research indicate that there is low rate of ASNSs usage among researchers. In addition, the results show that colleagues, attitude toward technology and communication benefits are the drivers to use ASNSs and trust, privacy and security are the common barriers regarding to use ASNSs.

A new concept of a flexible rock-shed is presented for protection of the railway from falling rocks. The flexible rock-shed is made of flexible nets connected by specific spring spacer bars to an array of reinforced concrete portable frames which are linked by a longitudinal steel tube truss. To evaluate the performance of the flexible rock-shed, experimental and numerical studies are carried out in the present study. Impact tests are conducted on a full-scale partial model of the prototype structure when it is subjected to a falling block of 340 kg. The impact time interval, maximum deflection of the flexible net, tensile forces in the supporting ropes, and axial strains of spring spacer bars are recorded. To further examine the dynamic behavior of the flexible rock-shed, numerical simulations are also carried out by using the explicit finite element code ANSYS/LS-DYNA. It is found that the numerical results coincide well with the experimental data and both the numerical and experimental studies reveal that the structure can withstand impact energy of 50 kJ with all the materials working in the elastic range. The structural details are improved and the basis for the design and construction of similar structures in the future is provided.<br>

Abstract: The article deals with new type of asymmetric warfare and hybrid war. The potential threats in international politics and global security issues, Euro-Atlantic Alliance policy of fighting against terrorism. A serious challenge to modern security creates many problems around the world. The beginning of the twenty-first century was marked by proliferation of hybrid wars, held between flexible and sophisticated adversaries engaged in asymmetric conflicts using various forms. The hybrid war is caused by a hybrid threat, a blend of military and non-military assets and operations, terrorism, guerrilla tactics, criminality and cyber attacks. The use of hybrid type tactics can ensure the achievement of the main objectives of an international actor, with a minimum of effort, usually without using the force, and can deny to the target/victim the possibility to take any defensive actions. The complexity, diversity, the nature and dynamics of contemporary conflicts represent challenges that should be widely studied. The war, be it ancient or modern, hybrid or not, is always complex and cannot be described by a single adjective. The work focuses on the role of NATO in ensuring peace worldwide in the context of new asymmetric threats. The aim of the research topic: analyzing global challenges, which pose a serious threat to international security.


Smart classrooms are basically the rooms wherein students come together in a shared space to construct, manipulate, and negotiate meaning around a canvas. This enables collaborative learning in the most effective manner. The environments become immersive learning happens on walls, desks, tables, and in conversations. The interactive surfaces become shared perceptual spaces where students discuss meaning and clarity and come to a collective understanding. When there is an environment with touch screens dedicated to creating opportunities for shared perceptual meaning, the students could dig down and construct knowledge in a deeper way. If you want students exchanging, collaborating, and talking synchronously in class then shared public spaces should be the primary focus of work. There are many techniques and options for setting up a smart classroom. Depending on the requirement and fund availability, the features and technology can be chosen. The requirements in a school would be less in terms of cost and technology as the school student would not be much well versed with the technological platforms. In this paper we have discussed about a smart class room that could provide an automated interactive learning environment for a modernized classroom of a school.

The present study reveals the behavior of shear-thickening and shear-thinning fluids in magnetohydrodynamic flow comprising the significant impact of a hybrid nanofluid over a porous radially shrinking/stretching disc. The features of physical properties of water-based Ag/TiO2 hybrid nanofluid are examined. The leading flow problem is formulated initially in the requisite form of PDEs (partial differential equations) and then altered into a system of dimensionless ODEs (ordinary differential equations) by employing suitable variables. The renovated dimensionless ODEs are numerically resolved using the package of boundary value problem of fourth-order (bvp4c) available in the MATLAB software. The non-uniqueness of the results for the various pertaining parameters is discussed. There is a significant enhancement in the rate of heat transfer, approximately 13.2%, when the impact of suction governs about 10% in the boundary layer. Therefore, the heat transport rate and the thermal conductivity are greater for the new type of hybrid nanofluid compared with ordinary fluid. The bifurcation of the solutions takes place in the problem only for the shrinking case. Moreover, the sketches show that the nanoparticle volume fractions and the magnetic field delay the separation of the boundarylayer.
