Nous avons rendu disponibles, en libre accès sur internet, les collections de mémoires et de thèses soutenues à l’Université de Bobo Dioulasso et à l’Université de Ouagadougou 1 (Burkina Faso). L’analyse des données de consultation (« fichiers de log » présents sur le serveur hôte) permet de produire plusieurs indicateurs concernant l’impact et la visibilité internationale des documents constituants les collections. Nous présentons la répartition temporelle et géographique des consultations, les fréquences des accès spécifiques à chaque document, la nature des questions, l’impact des moteurs de recherche. Ces résultats montrent qu’en mettant à disposition sur Internet des documents scientifiques produits par des institutions africaines, l’importance de leur visibilité et de leur impact peuvent être démontrés en utilisant les données de consultation disponibles sur le serveur. La comparaison de ces données avec celles disponibles pour les documents en libre accès de l’Institut français pour le développement (IRD) permet de conclure que les niveaux de consultation pour les publications scientifiques des pays du « Nord » et du « Sud » sont assez similaires.Two major collections of dissertations and theses defended at the University of Bobo Dioulasso and the University of Ouagadougou 1 have been made available open access on the Internet. The data analysis of accesses available via the host server makes it possible to produce several indicators concerning the impact and the international visibility of the available documents. We will present the temporal and geographical distribution of the consultations, the specific frequencies for each document, the nature of the questions, the impact of the search engines. These results seem to show that by making available on the Internet scientific documents produced by African institutions their visibility and impact are demonstrable with the data collected by the server. A comparison of these data with those available for the open access documents of the French Institute for Development (IRD) show that the levels of consultation for scientific publications from "Northern" and "Southern" countries are quite similar.

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of WhatsApp usage in disseminating information to students at the Management, Zimbabwe Open University's Mashonaland West Regional Campus. This study employed a mixed methodology wherein both the qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires were distributed to students through WhatsApp groups for all faculties. A total of 255 questionnaires were distributed to students through the existing WhatsApp groups. Of the distributed questionnaires, 128 were returned, and of these, 69 were usable for data analysis. The study revealed that the majority of students utilize WhatsApp for communication with the university. The other finding was that WhatsApp communication was characterized by data bundle costs and internet connectivity challenges. The study recommended that there be a WhatsApp policy and widening of the use for teaching and learning.

The present study aimed to assess the impact of textual analysis on translation competence and attempts to investigate textual analysis as an essential phase in the translation process. Moreover, it claims that any translation competence is reached through three phases: analysis, transfer, and restructuring as Nida has stated. In addition to that, this study extends over the ideas and theoretical frameworks of textual analysis made by many scholars to ease comprehending the text to be translated. The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach  in line with the field of the study. This approach describes the participants’ feedback and data to assess translation competence. Then the researcher prepared a survey  of 8 items as a tool for data collection. It conducted on 30 trainees and students of translation at Gassim University during the second term of the academic year, 2015.  Moreover, the data were collected from various resources including the internet, encyclopaedias, and translation references together with the survey. After the analysis, the study reached some findings. The results of those findings and data analysis showed that textual analysis influences the translation quality and enhance translators’ competence. A 67% of students were confident that the role of textual analysis in reaching translation competence. Based on these findings, the researcher presented some concluding remarks and recommendations. Finally, the study concluded that textual analysis enhances translator’s skills and competence.

Resumen Con el propósito de determinar el impacto que sobre la preparación académica y profesional de los estudiantes universitarios tiene el uso de internet y las diversas redes sociales (IRS) disponibles se realizó este estudio. Para esto se seleccionaron a 20 estudiantes del último semestre de los ciclos 2017A y 2017B, de la Licenciatura en Agronegocios, a los que se les aplicó una encuesta acerca del uso de IRS, y su relación con el compromiso y/o responsabilidad social. Los datos fueron analizados mediante una prueba “T” de Student al 95% de confianza. Los resultados indican que: sólo 7 de los 20 estudiantes manifestaron reconocer un impacto positivo del IRS en su preparación académica, aunque no en el compromiso hacia su comunidad. El 40% de los estudiantes emplea Facebook, 90% whatsapp y videojuegos y el 30% Twitter, con sólo el 4% recurriendo a internet para accesar y leer revistas científicas (journals) y/o periódicos. El 90% de los estudiantes expresó no tener ningún interés en utilizar el internet para leer revistas, libros o periódicos. Se concluye que los estudiantes no ven al IRS como una herramienta para mejorar su preparación académica y no la ven como una influencia para incrementar su sentido de compromiso y responsabilidad. De esta forma, es necesario implementar mecanismos efectivos de vinculación que relacionen de manera real a la universidad con el desarrollo y seguimiento profesional del estudiante y sus logros hacia su comunidad Palabras clave Preparación Académica, Internet y Redes Sociales, Compromiso Social. Edible oils produced and consumed in Burkina Faso often do not meet established standards. The objective of this study was to evaluate the total gossypol level of refined cottonseeds oils and the oxidation state of crude peanut oils and refined cottonseeds oils in Burkina Faso to determine the impact on consumer health. A total of 61 samples including crude peanut oils and refined cottonseeds oils were collected in Ouagadougou, Bobo Dioulasso and surrounding areas. Total Gossypol and p-Anisidine value were determined by spectrophotometry. Peroxide value, acid value, soap residual value and mineral oils were determined by chemical methods. Total oxidation (Totox) value was determined by mathematical prediction. Overall, Gossypol total average of cottonseeds oils analyzed in this study was 0.032%. The p-Anisidine value average was 1.80 for refined cottonseeds oils and 11.65 for crude peanut oils. The Totox averages were respectively 19.37 and 28.36 for refined cottonseeds and crude peanut oils. The average peroxide values for refined cottonseeds oils and peanut crude oils were 8.52 and 8.33 mEq O2/Kg, respectively (p<0.05). The average acid values were 0.27 and 1.95 mg KOH/g for refined cottonseeds oils and crude peanut oils, respectively (p<0.05). None of the oils showed any mineral oil trace. The average residual soap values were respectively 1.47 and 8.32 ppm for peanut oils and cottonseeds oils (p<0.05). The majority values determined conformed to the Codex Alimentarius standard despite some cases of non-compliance. It is essential to improve the processes of oils production and conservation in order to have quality oils to guarantee the health of the consumer.

Abstract: The paper underscores the infrastructural facility and the student’s academic performance in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. Thirty questionnaires were administered through a systematic sampling technique in each of the six faculties making a total of 180 questionnaires. The paper has found out a positive relationship between the student’s academic performance, power supply and health facilities. However, the internet facilities and transportation facilities were not adequate, whereas water supply was adequate. A test of the impact of infrastructural facility on the student’s academic performance, using a Chi Square statistical technique revealed a significant value of 177.1 at 0.05 % level. The paper recommends that the existing facilities should be upgraded and significantly improved by the government; urgent attention should be given to the development of the internet facilities and transportation sector of the University. Also, private partnership should be encouraged in the infrastructural development of the University.
