The paper approximates Jakob von Uexküll’s theory of meaning and the process-thought in Alfred Whitehead’s philosophy. As the main idea, the paper points at the compatibility of meaning and process according to the perspectives of Uexküll and Whitehead. It suggests that Uexküll’s common meaning rule can describe the processes of novelty in the world as does Whitehead’s principle of creativity. It is also suggested that Uexküll and Whitehead abandon a substantialist view of the organism – the organism means much more process, activity and creation than anything thing-like. In approaching Uexküll’s theory of meaning, a semiotic interpretation of Whitehead’s principle of creativity is proposed in which the concept of the threshold is fundamental to defining the boundary between the semiotic and the non-semiotic areas corresponding to the living (animate) and the non-living (inanimate). In conclusion, the paper suggests that the activity of meaning distinguishes animate entities from inanimate ones in the sense that meaning and life overlap – meaning could not have existed prior to life (and to the contrary).

Globalization in the world has given the huge impact on the people, as the new condition of the world has brought the world to the globalism- a consciousness and understanding that the world is one. Globalization has also unified the people in a global village that covers all aspects of life such as economic, political, cultural, religious aspects. This paper will explore the concept of wa¡a¯iyyah which stresses on the moderation and accommodative way and its implementation in Southeast Asia. The main idea of the wa¡a¯iyyah or moderation in religious life is that it offers the importance of realizing the concept of Islamic blessing for all the Universe (Islam; Ra¥matan lil ±lam³n). Therefore, the main offer of the Muslim wa¡a¯iyyah movement is to focus on developing civilization, freedom, justice, prosperity and better future for all the people. It is the main capital of the Wa¡a¯iyyah in Southeast Asia to give the significant contribution to the globalization of the world.

Peace is not an esoteric word. It has philosophical underpinnings and real world connotations. In a nuclear era with the latest, and manifest, conflicts which may end in total war, peace becomes a deceptively complex word. Peace Research and peace movements become dualities which are necessary strategies for world peace. As a scientific compilation of data and meaning methodology, they are a comparatively new phenomena but in terms of some kind of a movement have always been active. Even if only a protest by a minority it has been an ongoing phenomenon. Peace Research and eventually peace movements become part of a social consciousness that is important to achieve a political end—world peace. This paper spells out the meaning of Peace Research, its development and links with peace movements. Some peace movements in different parts of the world have been brought out merely to substantiate the peace research and its concepts. It is by no means exhaustive. A lot needs to be researched and brought out. But one main idea seems amply clear that the world system needs restructuring to absorb Peace Research and peace movements if only to rationalise it, make it viable for both study and activism. So also a change is needed among the “realist” thinking if only to achieve positive and developmental peace, i.e. peace combined with social justice.

Abstract This paper examines the language used by careers services in UK universities. Using a combination of critical discourse analysis and corpus linguistics methods and tools, the analysis of 2.6 million words collected from 58 UK university websites shows that the services highlight the quantity and variety of resources and assistance offered to Higher Education (HE) students. In addition, the close analysis of linguistic data brings to light a commonly used semantic pattern where the services act as the enablers of the students’ self-beneficiary actions. The main idea communicated in these webpages is that if HE students want to succeed in the graduate job market they need to prepare for the world of work, follow instructions and develop their employability. This course of action is presented by UK universities as natural or common sense. The interpretation and evaluation of linguistic patterns that emerge from the corpus-based analysis challenges the notion of employability and its association with the idea of ‘empowering’ young people to successfully compete in the graduate job market.

The book returns to the question of God within the world of the yes. The reader is given tools to continue the investigation, but no final conclusion is reached on the question of God. David Griffin’s process thought is naturalistic and panentheistic. This view of God shares attributes of traditional theism. But in process thought, God does not create ex nihilo, does not coerce, and remains within the causal structure of nature. Griffin argues that God is a necessary feature of process thought and its endorsement of enduring meaning. Donald Sherburne offers a different view, called “Whitehead Without God.” The book concludes that process thought without God can still renew public life. It remains for us in the future to investigate the mystery of holiness in the universe.

Davidson’s first lecture begins with a discussion of the theoretical importance of the notion of speaking the truth, continues with a characterization of the structure of an adequate semantic theory, and concludes with some remarks on the connections between truth-theoretic semantics and the underlying levels of representation posited by syntacticians in the generative tradition. What is special about speaking the truth, Davidson claims, is that anyone who is competent with a language and who knows the relevant facts about the world is in a position to know whether a speaker of that language speaks the truth on any given occasion. It is no surprise, then, that truth is central to Davidson’s conception of semantics: for much of the lecture, he defends the claim that a Tarskian truth theory can serve as the basis for a theory of meaning. At the end of the lecture, he suggests that the logical forms associated with sentences by an empirically supported Tarskian truth theory for a language can be identified with the Chomskyan deep structures of those sentences.

Modern sociolinguistics, like other linguistic disciplines, seeks to use modern technology in its research. As a good example here can serve the attempt to develop a sociolinguistic classifi cation of written languages of the world undertaken by the scientists from the Laval University (Quebec, Canada) in 1988–2002. The main idea of the classifi cation was to measure the vitality of a language by determining the intensity of its social functions in different areas of communication. The written languages of a number of countries, such as China, India, were studied. The sixth volume of this international work consisted of two books devoted to the languages of Russia, where the sociolinguistic parameters of all languages of Russia were studied, except for the languages of national minorities. According to this international study of Canadian scientists, it was possible, fi rstly, to clarify the number of written languages of the world, secondly, to create a sociolinguistic classifi cation of world’s languages. However, for objective reasons the work was not completed, and the achievement of the above-mentioned possibilities remains the scientifi c task of the future.

AbstractWhen China's economy began to grow in the 1980's, many people throughout the world, including many people in China, hoped that China might offer the world a unique model of development. Many Chinese carry this hope even today, and some among them are turning to Whiteheadian or process thought for guidance. Of course Whitehead is a Western philosopher, but they see in his ideas deep similarities with Chinese ways of thinking, enabling Chinese to articulate traditional points of view in a modern setting. With help from Whitehead they are developing what they call a "Constructively Postmodern" approach to China's future. This essay introduces this movement, its core ideas, and some of its key figures, linking them with the theme of religion and sustainability.

The article attempts to analyze the concept of gender, study philosophical preconditions of its emergence and trace the main postmodern aspects of the gender category. It proves that gender research in the postmodern era is not identical to the theories of feminism. It deals with social life of both sexes, their behavior, roles, characteristics, common and different between them, the social relationships of the sexes, considering the world from the standpoint of both socio-gender groups. The article shows that an urgent need for more purposeful development of independent women's research in the developing countries. Such research should holistically reflect and study the lives of women on the basis of the so-called women's rather than universalized man experience. The main idea of this scientific research was to emphasize that the world can be explored not only from a man perspective, but also from the standpoint of woman experience. The level of scientific study of the gender conceptual sphere is clarified, in particular, the gender concept is a multidimensional complex represented in the language, which has a certain ethnocultural specificity. The concept has an unstable structure, which is reflected in the model of the concept developed by us, in which we highlight the root and applications of the concept, the possible movement of features in the relevant semantic directions from and to the root. The unstable (mobile) structure of the concept is also characteristic of its root: during historical development, the root may change, but the semantic meaning is not lost, but only replaced by synonyms or verbal innovations relevant to today.

The Dimension of Cretivity is a condition, or condition that is particularly characteristic and almost impossible to formulate completely, which the meaning is never fully understood, because each child has a level of creativity. Creativity involves the synthesis of all these functions. The section presented here is an integrative model that includes four basic functions: (a) national thinking, (b) emotional development or high-level feelings, (c) development of special talents in the mental and physical life, and (d) the high degree of consciousness resulting in the use of imagination, fantasy, and break-through at the state of consciousness or unconsciousness. The semantics mean the theory of meaning or theory of meaning. Various kinds of complicated problems such as hostility, anger, resentment, humiliation, killing and even war in the world community generally and the people of Indonesia in particular occurs due to mistakes in saying words and sentences that berdampat on the meaning of words and sentences are diverse to cause conflict between hostility and hatred among ethnic communities and religion. It is a phrase Arabic proverb which means "The word can penetrate something that can not be penetrated by a needle", and also the expression "The survival of a person lies in how he keeps his mouth and his words".

The relevance of the subject. Jazz music is a vivid, unique and distinctive phenomenon of the world culture, which is a grand achievement of many-years musical practice of humanity. In the context of the artistic culture of the modern information society, jazz art plays an essential part and is really quite interesting. The creative activity of jazz performers has always attracted the attention of the audience, caused a diverse reaction and today has many supporters in different parts of the world. Since the middle of the XX century, more and more trends have begun to emerge in jazz music, which led to the understanding of philosophical and psychological issues, in particular, ethical, aesthetic, social and other aspects. In this connection, new styles began to form in jazz, which in fact represented the emergence of the next, radically new stage in the evolution of jazz art. In the second half of the XX century there appeared jazz avant-garde – an entirely new cultural phenomenon that has its own history and philosophy, genre and style. In musicology, this concept can also be called “abstract jazz”, “new jazz”, “free jazz”, etc. It is clear that this trend is at the crossroads of two separate types of art – musical avant-garde and jazz, so it attracts admirers from both sides. Compared to traditional classic jazzmen, many prominent musicians of jazz avant-garde are still little known. Among them are composer and pianist Cecil Taylor, who was a compelling opponent of jazz traditions. His style is unique, his music is one of the most striking examples of musical avant-garde in the history of art. Nowadays, the scientific literature has no fundamental works devoted entirely to the analysis of C. Taylor’s avant-garde art. This circumstance also enhances the relevance of studying specific features of C. Taylor’s performing style. The purpose of the research is to determine peculiarities of Cecil Taylor’s creative style and related techniques of music speech. Achieving the goal involves solving the following tasks: to determine the difference between artistic systems of classic and avant-garde jazz; to outline the main informative paradigms of C. Taylor’s creative work; to analyze the technology of expressive means of C. Taylor’s music; to reveal the significance of C. Taylor’s avant-garde activity and to identify its place in the world of modern artistic culture. Research methods. The research is based on the interaction of scientific approaches, the most important of which are: analytical, which involves elaboration of musical means of expressiveness and composition technique of sounds organization; comparative, used to compare specific features of artistic systems of jazz mainstream and avant-garde; semantic, necessary for defining the content of music pieces, their meanings, images, mood; biographical, with the help of which certain facts of the musician’s biography are specified for a better understanding of his creative personality. Results of the study confirm the fact that in the world of artistic culture Cecil Taylor is one of the greatest representatives of the radical musical avant-garde. The basis of his art is the so-called “aesthetics of opposition”, the central idea of the artistic system of jazz avant-garde, according to which any artistic truth categorically established for all others cannot exist. In this context, the individualization of style, the relativity of all aesthetic ideals and the unlimited spectrum of expressive possibilities are stated, which is conditioned by the optimal disclosure of the figurative and emotional content of the piece. At the same time, the central object of the avant-garde jazz denial is the concept of the classic jazz art, based on the so-called “aesthetics of identity”. Its main idea is to adhere to structural stamps in order to maximally approach the stylistic aesthetic ideal. Such an ideal is the given classical theme-standard. Actually, this is an artistic truth for the jazz mainstream, to which one should aspire. Avant-gardists did not agree with this situation, for them it was nothing more than imposing personal whims by adherents of jazz traditions. The main informative paradigms of C. Taylor’s avant-garde art are antiromanticism, realistic pessimism and dystopia. The essence of anti-romanticism is to deny the domination of sentimentality, subjectivity, dreaminess and escape from reality, typical for romanticism. In their place, the primacy of rationalism, collectivity and pursuit of objectivism are established. Realistic pessimism is a worldview where, basing on tragic experience attention is focused on negative aspects, which leads to a belief in the eternal dominance of evil all over the world. Anti-utopia is recognition of the deception of utopia, the denial of the achievement of social ideals and the possibility of creating the world of justice. The main means of expressiveness of this ideological content in C. Taylor’s works are atonality, disharmony and percussive pianism. Conclusions. According to the research findings, we conclude that Cecil Taylor made a significant contribution to the development of modern culture. He was a compelling opponent of jazz traditions, always remained an uncompromising fighter for new jazz. Cecil Taylor is a virtuoso pianist and prominent improviser, one of the best representatives of avant-garde jazz in the world. Cecil Taylor discovered a new bright side of musical art and stimulated the public to redefine spiritual values and view of world as a whole. His work attracts and will attract attention of all those who are interested in contemporary art.
