This article analyzes the application of rhetoric in institutional economics interpreted in various – evaluative, disciplinary, instrumental – aspects. When considering the rhetoric with the evaluative position the emphasis is done not on the positive and neutral, but on its negative – for the recipients – treatment. In terms of disciplinary or specific scientific fields, the main attention is paid to the system, as well as evolutionaryinstitutional approach. A detailed analysis of rhetorical instruments that serve as a tool for manipulating the target audience is done. On the example of the study of place and role of cultural code in economic research it is shown by which rhetorical means myths are introduced into scientific circulation.

Brand revitalization may be defined as putting a new lease of life to a dying brand. Revitalizing a brand is first of all a task of creating innovative products in line with the tastes of today's new customers, not those of yesterday's. Even when the brand may be very old, it should leave in the memory some traces, then only it would be fruitful to revamp the declining brand. The chapter discusses the meaning of brand revitalization, its causes and symptoms. The concept has been explained from the Indian perspective giving various examples from India. The chapter further discusses the various ways in which a dying brand may be given a new lease of life. The chapter discusses the role of emotional connect of the customers with the brand in particular. There is a detailed analysis of how Cinthol, a leading brand of soap in 1980's lost market in 1990's and how it revived itself by reconnecting with youth 2000 onwards. This chapter would add to the knowledge of the reader in the following ways: understanding the concept of brand revitalization and the rationale for reviving a brand; understanding the reasons why a successful brand loses its relevance and the indicators of the downfall; and understanding the linkages between emotional connect with the target audience and brand revitalization

The article attempts a detailed analysis of the post-1956 purges in the field of economic research. It tries to identify and assess the role of patronage in protecting the field from lasting damage. Such damage was threatening in the form of both losing several young talents from the field as well as weakening the position of the empiricist research programme successfully launched in the immediate post-Stalin years of 1954–6. The analysis devotes great attention to the dialectical relationship between purge and patronage, that is, to the inevitability of certain senior communist patrons administering purges in order to be able to act as patrons.

The author analyzes the state of institutional economics in contemporary Russia. It is characterized by arbitrary confusion of the ideas of «old», «new» and «mathematical» versions of institutionalism which results in logical inconsistency and even eclectics to be observed in the literature. The new and mathematical versions of institutionalism are shown to be based on legal, political and mathematical determinism tightly connected with the so-called «economic approach» (G. Becker). The main attention is paid to the discussion of theoretical and practical potential of the contemporary classical («old») institutionalism. The author focuses on its philosophical grounds and its technological imperative, the institution of science, the method of criticism, the opportunity of using classical institutionalist ideas as the ideology of economic reforms in Russia.

This paper is to examine the role academic libraries can play to organize and make indigenous knowledge accessible for national development. The target audience for the paper are academic librarians in Ghana, researchers of African studies in Ghana and other stakeholders. This is a qualitative study with data from interviews with the librarians and a desk-top literature review. Academic librarians in Ghana recognize the importance of indigenous knowledge organization, but little has been done by way of research. Most academic libraries in Ghana have the basic resources to manage indigenous knowledge. Academic librarians need to be proactive in their collaborative efforts to manage indigenous knowledge. Academic librarians in Ghana should be proactive towards effective management of indigenous knowledge, for easy accessibility. Again, academic libraries need to be well resourced to manage indigenous knowledge. Finally, academic libraries need to create awareness about the importance of indigenous knowledge using different media platforms to all stakeholders.

This article provides an overview of post-conflict justice (PCJ) as well as a detailed analysis of factors that impede or facilitate the implementation of mechanisms to address the atrocities of a conflict. Grounded in an extensive new dataset, developed over the past three years, covering all conflicts in Africa between 1946 and 2009, we extend previous research by including empirical testing of previously untested assumptions and variables impacting PCJ, most notably, the role of power, politics, economics, and geo-strategic interests at the state and international political levels as well as combining previously tested variables amongst and between each other. Further, the aspects of PCJ, including conflicts where mechanisms were not deployed are included in the analysis along with those coded as symbolic in nature. We conclude by discussing the pragmatic issues associated with testing the concept of realpolitik and policy implications based on our analysis.
