The problem of communication is considered as a phenomenon existing in the context of the interrelationship between the similarities and differences. The differences are connected with legitimation of interest in the subject of communication practices within the socio-cultural society (the similarities). It is revealed that the communication society culture exists as a unity of closely interrelated aspects — subjective and personal. The need for approval of the communicative model of personality as a multicultural entity creates prerequisites for radical changes in life strategy, the key points that make up the skills to be included in the growing complexity of communication networks, including the ability to create a new system of relationships (self-organization). All this does not only make the differences in culture explicit, but also stimulates the next stage of the socio-cultural development. It is concluded that the position of the subject, which has new communicative consciousness, may be changed. The basis for the mechanism of personal comprehension of the world is an innovative activity of the multicultural subject.

The subject of this research is the works of the prominent national composer Alfred Schnittke. The analysis of musical compositions demonstrated that one of the dominant technique of their thematic development consists in the intonation and genre montage, and dramaturgy is structured as a peculiar intertwinement of imagery-thematic lines, each of which is formed as an assemblage of themes referred to the same genre. The main principle for this research served the principle of historicism as one of the fundamental within national musicology, which views an artistic phenomenon in unity of transformation of traditions and modern trends. The scientific novelty consists in determination of the leading principle of musical compositions of A. Schnittke – the principle of “generalization through the genre”, presented as an intonation and genre montage. In conclusions formulated in the article, the author summarizes and systematizes the results of study: combining different genres in a single sound space, the composer interprets them as so-called intonation-semantic signs formed in the process of prolonged historical-cultural development, generating valid content, and at the same time, in its intertwinement, creating an individual artistic view of the world.

Australia’s place on the world stage has evolved dramatically over the past century. Although no longer preoccupied with isolation from the British Empire, Australia grapples with the challenges of its proximity at the apex of a diverse and dynamic Indo-Pacific. While holding out the aspirations of regional power with global interests, the island continent continues to be plagued by anxiety in its pursuit of place in a contested world. This chapter explores the contours of Australia’s contemporary place-making project. Recognizing the complexity of the subject matter, in which dimensions of history, memory, geography, economics, and culture collide, the chapter draws on the nation’s diplomatic practice as a lens through which to view the competing forces of change and continuity at play. It begins by noting that the theoretical underpinnings of Australian diplomacy raise interrelated concerns about material power and powerlessness, national security, and broad cultural values, all of which contribute to Australia’s evolving sense of place over key points in time. Despite claims that Australia’s approach to the outside world is gripped by repetitive impulses to ‘engage or retreat’, this chapter finds that ultimately, the nation’s place-making project tends towards openness over insularity, engagement over isolation, and activism over passivity. The central claim is that Australia’s constructive, yet pragmatic style of diplomacy—in its many forms—plays a critical though undervalued role in positioning the nation on the global and regional stage.

My goal is not to analyse the sacred – to analyse it is to kill it. The objective is only to explore different ways of approaching the sacred through looking deeply at the nature of poetic language. In our contemporary society, the sacred is the other. And so is the feminine. Our culture often rejects these modes of experience, but poetic practice gives them both a time and a space. My overall argument is that poetic practice creates an approach, a site and a possibility for the sacred to manifest itself phenomenologically by breaking through from the other realm into human experience. Poetic practice holds an intention, creates a direction, a dimension, a state that can approach the experience of the sacred and honour it, be open to it, invite it and allow the subject to suspend the habitual control and instead adopt a surrender mode. Thus, poetic practice itself becomes a sacred activity that teaches us about different kinds of knowledge, experience and insight and invites us to experience a different mode of being in the world, in language, with ourselves, and with each other. Instead of detachment and alienation that permeate our culture, instead of separation from and the resulting objectification of nature, poetic consciousness offers us a more primal mode of being that pre-modern man used to call sacred.

The subject of the study is the differences between music education in China and in Russia, in particular, music teaching and the attitude of parents to learning to play the piano. The article analyzes the opinions of researchers who consider the level of music education in China to be insufficient, in comparison with Western and neighboring countries. It is noted that it is necessary to create a musical environment where people love and understand music. The development of the level of musical education is associated with the formation of aesthetic qualities, and the understanding that the main goal of music is the cultural development of the younger generation, and not the achievement of high results. In the context of the globalization of the world space, the era of rapid enrichment of information and communication capabilities of mankind, the trend towards a dialogue of cultures is increasing in developed countries, integration processes are becoming more active, a dialogue between Western and Eastern Civilizations is being established, mutual exchange and enrichment of cultural space is being established. This situation has caused a new principle of relations between Russia and China, directed them to establish bridges of creative cooperation and interchange between the achievements of culture and education. It is known that over the past two decades, music education has become popular in China. The country has the largest number of young people studying music in the world. There is a developed infrastructure, good educational institutions equipped with high-quality equipment.

The article is devoted to the comparative terminological analysis of approaches to scientific review of concepts “subject” and “subjectness” in Ukrainian and foreign psychology, the author's interpretation of these concepts, defining how they translate into English, and reverse translation of relevant terms. The basic concepts of subjectness in Ukrainian (V.A. Romenets, V.O. Tatenko) and Russian (S.L. Rubinstein, A.V. Brushlinsky, K.O. Abulkhanova) psychology, the connection of a full-fledged subjectness with intelligence according to O.F. Losev, as an attempt to transform the imperfections of life are analyzed. The terms of subject-development paradigm, subjectogenesis, responsiveness of the subject as a response to the call for socio-cultural development are considered. It is shown that the terms “agent” and “agency” are widely used in foreign scientific and psychological discourse, which are often translated into Ukrainian as “subject” and “subjectness”, and sometimes as “subjectness activity” (the reverse translation looks accordingly). The authors' critical attitude to such variants of translation of these terms is substantiated, and other variants of translation which are already widely used in modern science are offered, namely “subject” – “суб’єкт”, “subjectness” – “суб’єктність”, “subjectness activity” - “суб’єктна активність”. The formation of the terms "subject" and "subjectness" in foreign scientific discourse is considered. The author's understanding of the subject as a carrier of the mental model of the world, and the corresponding interpretation of subjectness are offered

Ivan Franko’s publications on slavic issues in “Kurier Lwowski” The article deals with the series of texts by Ivan Franko on the subject of panslavism, or more specifically the Slavic question, published in 1888 in the several issues of “Kurier Lwowski”. Franko presents his understanding of the contemporary political situation and speaks about panslavism in this context, relating the trend to “the flashes of the national feelings” of the Slavs. Penetrating the essence of the movement, the writer and publicist emphasizes the presence of two different currents in it: centralism (Muscovite) and federalism. The Ukrainian writer is sympathetic to the latter that provides for the opportunity of uniting the Slavic tribes in order to defend their common interests and includes the principle of mutual respect and preservation of each national unit’s traditions. The writer supports his position with such authorities as Mykola Kostomarov, Mykailo Drahomanov, and others. Franko writes a lot about the role of the Slavophile Brotherhood of Cyril and Methodius, founded by Kostomarov, and similarity of its program to the posterior Drahomanov’s one. Following the thoughts of historians, Franko emphasizes that Slavic peoples feel the need for “arranging the mutual relationship” because they share common interests. The most important issue for the Slavs, according to the writer and journalist, is the freedom of every nation, now limited, in particular by “tsarist despotism”. “The Slavs can create power — not dangerous to the world, because there is no need in threatening anyone, but sufficient to secure each national individuality and the greatest freedom of national and cultural development”, writes the author of the series. Franko dedicates the final series of texts to the Slovaks and the Czechs.

AbstractAs the ‘Information Society’ emerges, the European economy and its citizens have become dependent on computers and communication networks. However, with the ravages of the viruses MyDoom and MS Blaster still being felt around the world, the vulnerability of computer systems and networks to criminal crime, as well as potentially terrorist activity, is still fresh in our minds. There is no agreed definition of what constitutes a ‘computer crime’. A computer may constitute the instrument of the crime, such as in murder and fraud; the object of the crime, such as the theft of processor chips; or the subject of the crime, such as ‘hacking’ or ‘cracking’. The involvement of computers may challenge traditional criminal concepts, such as fraud, as well as facilitating particular types of crime, such as child pornography. This article is concerned with the computer as the subject of the crime and with laws that have been established to specifically address activities that attack the integrity of computer and communications networks, such as the distribution of computer viruses. This article examines various initiatives to harmonise substantive criminal law to address the threat of computer integrity crimes, focusing specifically on a draft Council Framework Decision on ‘attacks against information systems’. Consideration is given to the impact the Decision may have when transposed into UK law, through an amendment of existing legislation, the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
