For small island developing states (SIDS), tourism is often seen as a passport to development and wellbeing. The happiness phenomenon among residents of tourism destinations is usually linked to the concept of quality of life (QoL). The happiness literature suggests that there is a positive correlation between happiness and income of residents in SIDS, but there is not a clear directionality. In this correlation a large impact of non-income factors linked to wellbeing, such as own feelings and attitudes, belonging feeling to a community, identification with cultural and natural heritage, or a fair government that fulfills residents´ needs. Thus, the goal of this research is to uncover the Caribbean model of happiness according to the relationship between tourism and wellbeing in a SIDS. To test this hypothetical-conceptual model of this work, a questionnaire was administered to obtain suitable data for measuring the quality of life based on a total of five constructs and 27 indicators among residents directly involved in the tourism activity. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was the technique used to test this hypothetical conceptual model. This work bring empirical evidence to the happiness literature deepening in the model of wellbeing Dominican Republic characterized by three maxims: 1) the Dominican model of individual happiness is not based on material goods but emotions, and thus, greed is considered a poverty condition among rich people; 2) having more is having more to share with and 3) the public sector continues to be the object of mistrust among Dominican population, without covering their expectations in terms of justice administration or reliability on political leaders, despite perceiving the political environment as stable.

Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is a powerful multivariate statistical analysis technique which combines both factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. It is capable of analysing the inter-relationships among latent constructs simultaneously in a model. These latent constructs are measured using certain number of items in a questionnaire. Covariance-based SEM (CB-SEM) or full SEM have become the choice for many researchers in a variety of disciplines because of their ability to evaluate complex relationships using parametric statistical approach. Researchers could also opt for Variance-based SEM (VB-SEM) or Partial Least Square-SEM (PLS-SEM) when their data failed the parametric assumptions such as multivariate normality distribution and minimum sample size. However, the approach of VB-SEM or PLS-SEM is a non-parametric instead of a parametric approach in CB-SEM. This article compared the performance of both SEM approaches using the same dataset to validate the Measurement Model for Maqasid Syariah Quality of Life (MSQoL). The findings of both analyses suggested that CB-SEM or full SEM is more appropriate to validate and confirm the MSQoL measurement model.

DGT (Directorate General of Taxation) continues to optimize the collection of annual tax returns by facilitating technology-based tax service systems, one of which is e-filing that has been running since 2016. However, e-filing turned out to have less influence on the delivery of annual tax returns as reflected in the electronic annual tax returns monitoring data that only met 78% of the 2017 target. This is caused by various problems that arise during the use of e-filing such as individual technology capabilities, loss of efin, forgetting DGT Online account passwords to lack of awareness about the importance of submitting annual tax returns. Problems encounter during the use of e-filing are the basis for evaluating the continued use of e-filing in Palembang. The development of a conceptual model was conducted to evaluate the sustainability of the use of e-filing. The development of a conceptual model basically has a scarcity of supporting theories used and has a complex model. To overcome this problem, Partial Least Squares (PLS) Structural Equation Model (SEM) could be applied to. The results of data analysis found that information quality and service quality did not have a positive influence on the sustainability of the use of e-filing and the level of correlation between information quality, system quality, service quality, and individual ability was still small towards the sustainability of the use of e-filing. It could be concluded that the quality of information and service provided by DGT has the opposite effect that does not even influance the sustainability of e-filing usage. However, the quality of the system and the ability of individuals to give effect to e-filing usage in reporting in reporting annual tax returns. Therefore, DGT is expected to improve the quality of the system of e-filing expecially in the function of e-filing, ease of use, usefullness of e-filing in reporting annual tax return. In additory it is necessary to carry out socialization and training on e-filing to improve the ability of individuals to report online their annual tax report. The findings of this research are very important for the Tax office in Palembang to analyze the sustainability of the use of e-filing that has been proven empirically, multidimensional and in a specific context. The result of the study could be used as a reference to improve overall quality of taxation for the sake of sustainable use of e-filing.

In recent years, a number of case studies of the circular economy in business have been analysed by academics. However, some areas of research are little explored at the micro level, such as the study of the characteristics of the financial resources applied to investments to introduce circular activities in businesses. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to define the resources applied to circular activities by firms. To describe the influence of financial resources on achieving a more advanced circular economy in business is also an objective of this paper. Using a sample of Spanish companies, we applied a partial least square structural equation model (PLS-SEM) to enhance the knowledge about financial resource management in the framework of the resource-based view. We find that availability of funds, quality of the firm’s own financial resources and public subsidies have a positive effect in stimulating the implementation of circular economy initiatives in businesses.
