Stereotypical perceptions of Roma people as those who like to walk along forest paths to camps, or stories about Gypsy fairies with crystal balls have nothing in common with such trendy and contemporary terms as new technologies. How can one imagine a stereotypical Roma who loves horses and campfires surfing the Internet? How do we discuss changes in men-women relations in the context of a patriarchal community in which women have no right to express their opinions and are literally captive? Undoubtedly, a lack of knowledge about Roma people, and with often the only alternative in the form of stereotypical information excludes them from the discussion on cultural changes related to technological development. At the same time media, including the Internet, are important not only in the context of activism of Roma leaders and organizations, but also with reference to people who want to fight against the negative image of Roma people in public space, regardless of membership or lack of membership in Roma organizations.

New technologies have changed the way today's own label products are being offered. Today the Internet and even more the so-called social networks have played key roles in dispersing any particular product in a more efficient and dynamic sense. Also, having a smartphone and a wireless high-speed network are no longer a luxury or a temporary fad, but rather a necessity for the new generations. These technological advances and new marketing trends have not gone unnoticed by the medium and large stores. The augmented reality applied to interactive catalogs is a new technology that supports the adding of virtual reality to a real environment which in turn makes it a tool for discovering new uses, forms, and in this case, spending habits. The challenge for companies with their private labels in achieving their business objectives, is providing customers with products and services of the highest quality, thus promoting the efficient and streamlined use of all resources that are accounted for and at the same time promoting the use of new information technologies as a strategic competitive.

Technological development has extremely useful facets for everyday life, since disruptive innovations are increasingly present in society. In this current scenario, the State's intervention in the economy is increasingly difficult. The objective of this research is to investigate the regulatory role of the Executive Power and regulatory agencies regarding streaming technologies. To do so, initially, the paper investigates the definition of streaming services, analyzing their legal adequancy according to Brazilian legislation. Subsequently, the regulatory competence of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication, the National Telecommunications Agency and the National Cinema Agency in relation to new technologies for dispersion of audiovisual content is analyzed. In the end, it is concluded that it is the responsibility of MCTIC to be the granting power of broadcasting services, not interfering in streaming services. Anatel is responsible for regulating the conditions and the relationship between streaming and telecommunications service providers, in this case, the internet, as well as assuring them the right to use the internet infrastructure. Ancine is responsible for acting with the objective of promoting, regulating and supervising the cinematographic and videophonographic industry in the various market segments. The research methodology used is the hypothetical-deductive and research technique is indirect documentation.

The aim of the publication is to present new models of education appropriate to the twenty-first century and the needs of modern network society. The article presents a comprehensive substantiation for necessity changes in education, resulting from technological development, as well socio-cultural changes. The article characterizes selected models of education of the future: a new culture of learning, the school as a learning organization, so-called turquoise education, and education for wisdom and spirituality. It is emphasized that essential for the new models are new interpersonal relationships and basing on humanistic values rather than on new technologies.

Upper limb motor impairment following stroke is a common condition that impacts significantly the independence and quality of life of stroke survivors. In recent years, scholars have massively turned to virtual reality (VR) to develop more effective rehabilitation approaches. VR systems are promising tools that can help patients engage in intensive, repetitive and task-oriented practice using new technologies to promote neuroplasticity and recovery. Multiple studies have found significant improvements in upper limb function for patients using VR in therapy, but the heterogeneity of methods and tools employed make the assessment of VR efficacy difficult. Here we aimed to assess the potential of VR as a therapy tool for upper limb motor impairment and to provide initial assessment of what is the added value of using VR to both patients and clinicians. Our mini-review focuses the work published since the Cochrane review (2017) and suggests that VR may be particularly effective when used in combination to conventional rehabilitation approaches. We also highlight key features integrated in VR systems that appear to influence rehabilitation and can help maximizing therapy outcomes, if exploited properly. We conclude that although promising results have already been gathered, more focused research is needed to determine the optimal conditions to implement VR in clinical settings in order to enhance therapy and to better define and leverage the true potential of VR. The rapid pace of technological development and increasing research interest toward VR-based therapy will help providing extensive knowledge and lead to rapid advancements in the near future.

In keeping with the theme of this special journal issue, the crosspollination discussed here includes technologies of cyberspace and the internet, psychological sub-disciplines concerned with personality and identity-formation, philosophy, and the neurosciences. Ordinarily, “crosspollination” connotes the emergence of something positive: a new birth, for instance, or an interesting hybrid. However, contrary to a rosy outlook, this article reflects concern about the effects of cyberspace technologies on personality and identity. “Progress” is an extremely powerful metaphor, or mental frame, and once new social media platforms, and virtual reality and augmented reality technologies are equated with progress, it is extremely difficult to contemplate their possible disadvantages. Nevertheless, glancing-backwards, one can readily concede that eager receptivity for the prospective benefits of new technologies should have been matched with sobriety about unforeseen or unintended consequences.

AbstractOur daily life has experienced significant changes in the Internet age. The emergence of e-science is regarded as a dramatic one for science. Wikis, blogs, virtual social networks, grid computing and open access are just a brief selection of related new technologies. In order to understand the changes, it is necessary to define these aspects of e-science precisely. Right now, no generally used term or common definition of e-science exists, which limits the understanding of the true potential of the concept. Based on a well-known approach to science in terms of three dimensions—human, task and technology—the author provides a framework for understanding the concept which enables a distinctive view of its development. The concept of e-science emerged in coherence with the technological development of web 2.0 and infrastructure and has reached maturity. This is impacting on the task and human dimensions as in this context, the letter “e” means more than just electronic.

Network society and the new forms of engagementThe popularization of the Internet in the 1990s marked the beginning of socio-cultural changes that have led to the creation of the network society. Networking has covered many spheres – social, cultural, political and economic. Along with social changes, new problems and risks associated with new technologies have emerged. It provoked the beginning of networked social movements, which regained technological tools in a subversive way, using an insect-type of attack, based on the structure of the swarm. One form of such an attack are subversive hacktivist actions, which have a deep performative character. Perhaps it is because of this extraordinary performative potential that the network, along with the new ways of communication, have become a source of tools, both in the artistic and social field. Społeczeństwo sieci a nowe formy zaangażowaniaSpopularyzowanie w latach 90. ubiegłego wieku internetu zapoczątkowało przemiany społeczno-kulturowe, które doprowadziły do powstania społeczeństwa sieciowego. Usieciowienie objęło wiele sfer – społeczną, kulturową, polityczną i ekonomiczną. Wraz ze zmianami społecznymi pojawiły się nieznane dotąd problemy i zagrożenia związane z nowymi technologiami. Spowodowało to powstanie usieciowionych ruchów społecznych, które w subwersywny sposób zaczęły odzyskiwać narzędzia technologiczne, posługując się insektalnym rodzajem ataku, opartym o strukturę roju. Jedną z form takiego ataku są subwersywne działania hacktywistyczne, o głęboko performatywnym charakterze. Być może właśnie z powodu niezwykłego potencjału performatywnego sieć, wraz z nowymi sposobami komunikacji, stała się źródłem pozyskiwania narzędzi zarówno na polu artystycznym, jak i społecznym.

Media refers to the channels of communication through which we distribute news, education, movies, music, advertising messages and other information. It includes physical and online newspapers and magazines, television, radio, telephone, the Internet, fax and billboards, are a dominant force in lives of children. Although television is remaining the predominant medium for children and adolescents, the new technologies are become more popular. We have to concern about the potential harmful effects of media "messages and images"; however, the positive and negative effects of media should be recognized. Parents have to establish the plan for all media in family home. Media that are influences on children should be recognized by "schools, policymakers, product advertisers, and entertainment producers".

The article considers the possibility of introducing digital and intelligent systems in the electric power industry, including the analysis of the consequences after the introduction of new technologies on the economic, social and technological side. Currently, the concept of distributed generation is being used more and more often in the global energy arena. This is certainly a trend in the energy sector. The current level of technological development in the energy sector is quite high, but in order to continue to increase competitiveness, we need a further transition to digital and intelligent energy systems that will increase the reliability, quality, environmental friendliness and automation of energy supply.
