On this research, the researcher has aim to find out the main character Dewi Ayu’s human needs and identify the most dominant needs. In this study, the researcher applied the psychological approach and theory of human needs. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The writer uses a library research method to collect the data. It means that the writer visit the library and reads the novel then read several related books. The main data is novel beauty is a wound by Eka Kurniawan, while supporting data is obtained from books, articles, and the internet. The result of this study can be explained that the main character can not totally fulfill well, such as: (1) the physiological needs of the main character can be fulfilled well because she is from a wealthy family (2) the safety can not be fulfilled due to factors in that era (3) the love and belonging need can be fulfilled well because the main character has a beautiful appearance (4) the esteem needs can be fulfilled because she is a famous figure at that time (5) self-actualization needs also can be fulfilled well because the main character is a brave and is able to position herself very well. From the five hierarchy needs the most dominant need is safety needs.

Self-actualization is term that is commonly used in psychology theories. The term can be simply translated as the full realization of someone’s potential or true self. This study was conducted to analyze the life journey of the main character of The Bell Jar in achieving herself-actualization. The purposes of this study are to describe the character of the main character in The Bell Jar and to describe the main character in achieving self-actualization and how it is portrayed in the novel. This study was done using a descriptive qualitative method and using Maslow's Hierarchy of Human Needs theory and New Criticism theory to explain the main character and her journey in achieving self-actualization in the form of words. The object of the study was the novel The Bell Jar and this study focused on Esther Greenwood as the main character.  List of an observational sheet was used as the research instrument and the data was taken through library research. The analysis was conducted by interpreting Esther’s utterances and actions using New Criticism theory to describe Esther’s characterization and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Needs theory to describe Esther’s self-actualization. The study results showed that Esther’s self-actualization is the results of her being able to fulfill her previous stages both directly and indirectly before reaching self-actualization stage along her life journey. Abstract: This study aimed to describe (1) the personality id figure Rey in the novel "The moon Drowned In Your Face" Work Tere Liye, (2) the personality ego character Rey in the novel "The moon Drowned In Your Face" Work Tere Liye, (3) personality super ego character Rey in his novel "the moon Drowned in Your Face" Tere Liye work. This study was a qualitative descriptive study and included in this type of library research. The data used in this study is novel Rembulan Drowning In Your Face Tere Liye Work, published by Republika Jakarta pata first printing in 2009 and consists of 426 pages. Data collection techniques used in this research is the engineering documentation and observation techniques. Teknk data analysis aims to describe the elements of fact stories that form the main characters' personalities that exist in the novel "The moon Drowned In Your Face" Work Tere Liye ". Based on the analysis, it can be concluded personality of id, ego and super ego that experienced by the main character. Based on the results of the study, that the personality Ray in the novel Rembulan Drowning In Your face has the id that is present in the form of hatred against a dark past, the curiosity over his true identity, as well as the ambition to destroy those he considered duplicity. Ego Ray looked at the rebellion he often did to help the people he loved. Super ego Ray looked at the behavior that always decide things according to his conscience desires.

This study aims to describe the id and ego of the characters in the novel A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens using the approach of psychological approach. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study and the data obtained from this study produce a psychological analysis in the Charles Dickens novel entitled "A Tale of Two Cities". There are two psychiatric structures that are described in this study, namely the id and the ego using the theory of Sigmund Freud.

This study aims to describe the struggles experienced by the two main characters in the novel in getting their freedom and also to elaborate the important of freedom for the main characters as human rights. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive method with the sociology of literature approach. The primary data were collected from descriptions and utterances of the main characters and narrators in the novel. The supporting data were obtained from the library, internet, journals, and articles. The results of this research indicate that there is struggle of the main characters in obtaining their freedom as a human in this novel. Huckleberry Finn as the main character fought for his freedom from a drunk and abusive father, while Jim, as the second main character fought for his freedom from slavery. The two figures then met and made an adventure together to get their own freedom.

Akan tetapi, dalam kehidupan masyarakat terkadang ditemui pribadi yang mengalami gangguan kejiwaan. Fenomena ini menjadi objek yang dapat dijadikan karya oleh seorang pengarang. Salah satu novel yang menceritakan gangguan kejiwaan adalah novel Dadaisme karya Dewi Sartika. Rumusan masalah dalam artikel ini adalah bagaimanakah gangguan kejiwaan tokoh-tokoh dalam Novel Dadaisme karya Dewi Sartika. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menguraikan gangguan kejiwaan tokoh-tokoh dalam Novel Dadaisme karya Dewi Sartika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan analisis data, gangguan kejiwaan yang dialami tokoh dalam novel Dadaisme berupa Obsesif kompulsif, psikopat, dan skizofrenia.Kata kunci : gangguan kejiwaan, tokoh, novel DadaismeAbstractHuman beings have a body and soul. The problems in this article is how a psychiatric disorder figures in the novel Dada Dewi Sartika work. The purpose of this study to elaborate on psychiatric disorders characters in the novel Dada Dewi Sartika work. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive study. This research aims to analyze the aspect of Love and Belonging needs. The Hierarchy of Needs theory is used to analyze what everyone needs in their lives and how to meet those needs. The Hierarchy of Needs consists of five levels consisting of basic needs, security needs, the need for love and ownership, the need for self-esteem, and the need for self-satisfaction. As considerations in this study using the theory of the Hierarchy of Needs from Abraham Maslow 1954 who analyzed the need for love and ownership of the main character in the novel Persuasion by Jane Austen 1817. Anne as a figure in the Persuasion novel by Jane Austen 1817 is a girl who is trying to improve the hierarchy of Needs love and the interests of family and girls love. In analyzing this study, researchers used a qualitative descriptive method as a technique for collecting data. The data collected by researchers based on the object of this study are the needs of love and ownership of the main character in the novel Persuasion by Jane Austen 1817. Data collected includes speech, action, sentence, and narration relating to the blindness of love and the main character in the story. Research is made for purposes that are useful for discussion and for other parties, and for this research purposes about humans that will meet the needs and effects of if these needs are not met.

Research on the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta (AAC) by Habiburrahman el Shirazy with ideological hegemony approach, the author's knowledge based on search on the internet, reference to the latest online journal (last 5 years), not found yet. Various related studies AAC most of them reviewed from the aspect of religiosity, da'wah and religious messages. This study aims to reveal ideological hegemony contained in the novel AAC. This literature study research, using the Gramsci hegemony approach. The research method used is descriptive analytic. The results showed Fahri's main character was constructed by the author with many positive attributes attached; handsome, smart, simple, obedient, and kind. These positive attributes and images make most female figures (Aisha, Maria, Nurul, Noura, Alicea) interested and admired Fahri, so Fahri also benefited and became a dominant class (hegemonic). Hegemony process these figures pan out, because one of them supported by religious ideology.

This paper discusses Amir’s anxiety and motive in Khaled Hosseini’s “The Kite Runner". The library research method was applied in this research. In analyzing the data, the structural approach was used to scrutinize the intrinsic elements such as character, conflict, setting, and plot, while the psychological approach was used to examine extrinsic elements such as anxiety and motive of Amir as the main character in “The Kite Runner”. The results show that Amir, as the main character, is a caring, inferior, coward, optimistic, anxious, selfish, careless, sly, and patient person. It also indicates that Amir is a round static character since he has complex traits but his character as a caring person remains the same from the beginning to the end of the story. Besides, as the main character, Amir experienced both internal and external conflicts. The settings of time, social, and place showed the period in Afghanistan between 1975 and 2001 and the social stratum, Pashtun and Hazara in Kabul.  Dealing with the plot, it starts from Amir’s effort to get Baba’s recognition and respect, Amir’s anxiety after betraying Hassan, Amir efforts to take Sohrab out from Kabul, the liberation of Sohrab from Assef, the Sohrab suicide trial, up to Amir’s effort to get back Sohrab trust. Also, Amir’s anxiety deals with realistic, neurotic, and moral anxiety, while the motives are safety and security need, belongingness and love need, and self-esteem needs.
