In recent years, several investigations of the medical clowning profession have appeared in the literature. However, few studies have focused on factors associated with turnover among medical clowns early in their careers. The current study examined whether individual differences in humor disposition predicted turnover behavior. Participants were 111 medical clowns in a three-phase longitudinal study. Humor disposition was measured in the first week of their training, clowns' job satisfaction two months later, and turnover six months after that. Results showed that humor appreciation decreased actual turnover through the mediating role of job satisfaction, whereas individual differences in humor creation directly decreased turnover. In addition, previous traumatic experiences moderated the associations between humor appreciation and turnover. Overall, our research findings support the notion that humor disposition can help predict which clowns remain in the hospital.

The Vietnam economy has gained lots of achievements after the financial crisis 2007–2011, until it reached a low inflation rate of 0.6% in 2015. This paper measures the volatility of market risk in Vietnam banking industry after this period (2015–2017). The main reason is the vital role of the bank system in Vietnam in the economic development and growth in recent years always goes with risk potential and risk control policies. This research paper aims to figure out the increase or decrease in the market risk of Vietnam banking firms during the post-low inflation period 2015–2017. First, by using the quantitative combined with comparative data analysis method, we find out the risk level measured by equity beta mean in the banking industry is acceptable, although it is little higher than ([Formula: see text]) 1. Then one of its major findings is the comparison between risk level of banking industry during the financial crisis 2007–2009 compared to those in the post-low inflation time 2015–2017. In fact, the research findings show us market risk level during the post-low inflation time has increased much. We compare beta in two periods because we want to figure out the reason underlying the fact beta has increased. One of the reasons is that the accumulated banking risks during the longer time and criteria to meet Basel 2 have been partially contributing to increasing market risk. Finally, this paper provides some ideas that could provide companies and government more evidence in establishing their policies in governance. This is the complex task but the research results show us warning that the market risk might be higher during the post-low inflation period 2015–2017. Our conclusion part will recommend some policies and plans to deal with it.

This study investigates the prediction of job satisfaction using the important entrepreneurial characteristics of corporate entrepreneurship (CE), market orientation (MO) and organisational flexibility (F). In this study, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used to predict the causal relationship between these entrepreneurial characteristics and job satisfaction (JS) as the outcome variable. It was found that the corporate entrepreneurship factors of work discretion, work improvement and rewards/reinforcement displayed a statistically significant common variance of ≥ 25.00 with extrinsic job satisfaction. The four Structural Equation Models built in this study indicated a reasonable to good fit with the data. Since all the entrepreneurial variables investigated can be controlled by management, it follows that the application of the research findings of this study can go a long way toward improving job satisfaction and possibly organisational performance through innovative entrepreneurial activities.

Abstract Background: In recent years, medical clowning research has received increasing interest. However, the clowns’ dispositional factors associated with their turnover behavior have yet to be examined systematically. Objectives: The current study examined whether individual differences in humor predict turnover behavior. This was accomplished by investigating the mediating role of the medical clowns’ job satisfaction and the moderating role of previous traumatic experiences.Method: Israeli medical clowns (N = 111) participated in a three-stage longitudinal study. Humorous dispositions were measured during the first week of medical clowning training, job satisfaction was measured two months later, and turnover behaviors were measured after six months. Results: Findings revealed that higher humor appreciation was associated with actual turnover through the mediating role of job satisfaction, whereas humor creation directly increased turnover. In addition, previous traumatic experiences moderated the associations between humor appreciation and turnover. Conclusion: Overall, our research findings support the notion that a humorous disposition can aid in predicting medical clowning turnover. As humor can be observed in numerous settings, in medicine as well as in other fields, we suggest implementing procedures to decrease the turnover rate of medical clowns.

This study aimed to measure the effect of organizational justice on organizational commitment of the employee of a packaging manufacturer in Indonesia which are mediated by intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction. Data collection was done by simple random sampling to 271 population of employees. The returned and valid questionnaire results were 145 samples. Data processing was used SEM method with Smart PLS 3.0 software. The results of this study concluded that organizational justice have a positive and significant effect on intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction. Intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction have a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment. Organizational justice have not significant effect on organizational commitment. Intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction have a significant effect as mediator between organizational justice and organizational commitment. This article discusses ethnographic lessons from a “communications for development” project in Madagascar. Analysing the project’s methodology of participatory oral testimony, the article argues that anthropologists can learn from an explicit focus on empowering informants to become active producers of ethnographic knowledge, and highlights the vital role of communicating joint research findings to influential decision makers. The multiple, differing actor groups united by the project are also assessed, demonstrating how ostensibly incompatible rationalities became creatively translated into mutually acceptable forms, generating unforeseen, new social expression rather than a predictable, universalist development agenda.

Direct support professionals (DSPs) play a vital role in supporting and sustaining the life qualities of individuals with developmental disabilities (DDs). The occupation is often challenging due to a multitude of workplace deficiencies and certain challenging behaviors associated with DDs. The demanding nature of job duties can cause compromised job satisfaction in DSPs, which in turn potentially undermines the quality of care they provide to individuals with DDs. The literature is limited addressing how psychosocial factors relate to job satisfaction specifically in DSPs. The present study examined self-efficacy as a psychosocial correlate for job satisfaction in DSPs and how one’s disposition for perspective-taking functioned as a moderator for the relationship between self-efficacy and job satisfaction. A sample of 133 DSPs responded to self-report measures for self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and perspective-taking. The results of multivariate regression indicated a positive relation between self-efficacy and intrinsic job satisfaction in DSPs, and the relation strengthened as the level of perspective-taking increased, suggesting a moderating role of perspective-taking in DSPs. The findings provide insights for targeting psychosocial correlates as an important element in training programs aimed at improving intrinsic satisfaction in DSPs.

This study aimed to determine the effect of work discipline, work motivation, organizational commitment on job satisfaction in improving nursing performance. The research respondents were nurses in the city of Semarang. The sample used in this study was determined by a non-probability sampling method, which obtained a sample of 190 respondents. The data in this study were obtained using a questionnaire method, which was filled independently. The analysis used in this study used multiple linear regression. This study proves and concludes that work discipline, work motivation, and organizational commitment positively affect job satisfaction. work discipline and organizational commitment positively affect nursing performance. However, work motivation and job satisfaction do not affect nursing performance. The research findings can be used as management consideration to improve the nursing performance in Semarang Indonesia and other countries with similar characteristics by applying the model to increase performance. The research is an original one. The findings add a discourse concerning the effect of work discipline, work motivation, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction on performance in nursing institutions in a developing country, Indonesia. Nursing institutions can consider the model to enhance nursing performance. Researchers can widen the scope of research for future research to overcome the problem of the generalization of research findings.
