This study describes a new idea for the relationship between orphaned adolescents using the social networking website Facebook and its relationship to psychological resilience. The study also compares orphaned adolescents, male and female, in their use of Facebook and their degree of psychological resilience. It also identifies the rate of use of orphaned adolescents (male and female) for Facebook. One hundred orphaned adolescents were used as samples in this study. The results indicated a statistically positive correlation between the use of the social networking website Facebook by orphaned adolescents and their psychological resilience. It also showed statistically significant differences between the average specimens of the study sample of male and female orphaned adolescents on the questionnaire using Facebook in the direction of males, and statistically significant differences between the averages of the study sample scores of male and female adolescents on the psychological resilience scale of adolescents in the male direction.

Adolescents are active social media user. There are various interactions  that happen in social media, social support is one of them. In Instagram, the interaction between users can be giving likes, comments, and sending direct messages. Meanwhile, high school adolescents (15—18 years old) have high preoccupation toward their body image. Thus, online social support is considered to have relationship with body image in adolescents Instagram’s user. The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between online social support and adolescent’s body image. The subjects of this research were adolecents who lived in DI Yogyakarta, DKI Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya (n = 235). Body image was  measured using MBSRQ-AS (The Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales) and online social support was measured using Social Support in Social Media Scale. The result of product moment analysis showed that online social support significantly correlated with adolescent’s body image (r = 0.261; p < 0.05). Further analysis found that there was body image difference between male and female adolescents (t = -2.104; p < 0.05). Age, location, access period, and the type of account followed did not have significant role on body image. In conclusion, adolescents need to have positive peer support.

This study investigated the relationship between adolescent self-esteem and maternal parenting style, using the four-style typology identified by Maccoby and Martin (1983). Additionally, the researchers considered whether it was more pragmatic to conceptualise parenting style as two separate co-occurring dimensions of parenting: responsiveness and demandingness. Male and female adolescents (N = 140, mean age 14.73 years, 64% female) completed questionnaires measuring perceived maternal responsiveness and demandingness, and self-esteem. Consistent with previous research, differences were found between the four parenting styles for adolescent self-esteem. However, maternal responsiveness was demonstrated to be the only significant predictor of adolescent self-esteem (p < .001). The researchers concluded that considering responsiveness and demandingness as separate dimensions, rather than combining them to form discrete categories, provided a more accurate and practical conceptualisation of the relationship between maternal parenting style and adolescent self-esteem.
