An Urarina elder made this statement at a community assembly meeting in July 1996, which adults from the primary long house community on the Pangayacu River had called to discuss the educational future of their children. The unrelenting economic, cultural, and political pressures accompanying Peruvian national expansion into Amazonia have led indigenous peoples like the Urarina to question their prospects for future linguistic and cultural survival. Over the past decade I have worked with the Urarina, both as a social anthropologist and as an advocate working on behalf of the Amazonian Peoples' Resources Initiative (APRI). In 1995 APRI launched an integrated community defense program among the Urarina. In collaboration with a local NGO (Programa de Formación de Maestros Bilingües de la Amazonía Peruana), APRI has begun developing an educational program that promotes the political and economic empowerment of the Urarina peoples. It works to secure Urarina access to primary health care, culturally appropriate education in the face of perceived language endangerment, and sustainable natural resource management.

Story research. Doing justice to the complexity of stories from the field Story research. Doing justice to the complexity of stories from the field The article derives from the author’s thesis Exploring voices exploring appropriate education: practitioners’ discourse and focuses on its methodological part.Cilliers claims that scientific research needs new approaches in order to understand complex issues. Lefebvre and Letiche assert that managers and policymakers simplify the complexity of everyday life in their reorganization proposals from higher levels. Smaling sketches what the role of qualitative research can be in studying complex phenomena. In the article it is explained how story research as a form of narrative research methodology can do justice to the complexity of stories from the field.Boje’s ‘antenarrative’, ‘antinarrative’ and ‘narrative’ form the conceptual framework to search for diversity within and between told and transcribed stories from the field. A ‘paragrammatic’ (Gabriel) use of deconstructive tools may help to find the diversity.Boje’s ‘emplotment’ and Holman Jones’ ‘civic dialogue’ offer clues to present the diversity of everyday life in a way that does justice to the complexity of stories from the field. The form of a polylogue was chosen to represent the different stories from the field.

Instructional and learning are experiencing change and tremendous transformation lately, especially at the turn of the millennium leading to the 21st century. Therefore, this condition is a challenge and demand professional role of instructional technology developers (PTP) to provide solutions. This study aims to describe what are the roles and challenges of the profession instructional technology developer in the learning of the 21st century, as well as what products should be produced by PTP in the future. This study uses a descriptive method. Data collection techniques and information through a literature study. The results of this literature review indicate that the future development of instructional technologies should be able to produce products such as; innovative ICT-based learning models, instructional media, and the application of e-learning. Therefore, the role and challenges facing the current PTP, namely: PTP must be creative and innovative to develop cutting-edge learning model appropriate learning paradigm of the 21st century; PTP must work collaboratively with other professionals in a team to produce a product; PTP needs to improve their competencies, they are competency in the area of learning and competency in the area of technology, especially regarding the new learning media; PTP needs to show real work and o er solutions to problems of learning with e-learning applications. Finally PTP products will be awaited and necessary to support the implementation of the learning process in different types, levels and appropriate education pathway applicable curriculum.
