We have been molecular docking using MolegroVirtual Docker (MVD) on water extract of guava fruit(Psidiumguajava, Linn) and sweet orange (Citrussinensis,Peels) as inhibitor on enzyme tyrosinase withascorbic acid (vitamin C) as positive control to studywhitening agent. Based on the previous studies, the maincontent of the water extract of guava fruit (Psidiumguajava)are 2,6-dihydroxy-3,5-dimethyl-4-0--D-glucopyranosilbenzophenone, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone, and vitamin C, whilethe extract juice of sweet oranges (Citrus sinensis) arelimonene, linalol, and vitamin C. In this study the resultsshowed that the main content of the water extract of Psidiumguajava fruit have better bond as inhibitor on tyrosinase thanCitrus sinensis and vitamin C which can be seen fromMoldock score of Psidiumguajava (-107.806) and Citrussinensis (-76,9593); it meanslower the energyand morestable binding. The IC50 on water extract of guava fruit(psidiumguajava) and sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) were0.26 mM and 31.07 mM, respectively. The hydrogen bonds of2, 6-dihydroxy-3, 5-dimethyl-4-0--D- glucopyranosilbenzophenone with 5amino acid of tyrosinase were Gly 200,Pro 201 , Gly 196, Phe 197, and Asn 205, while limonen, linalool binding 3 amino acids were Gly 200, Phe 197, andAsn 205. Finally, 3D MVD visualization between maincontent of guava and sweet orange water extract can beconcluded that interaction of guava fruit (psidiumguajava)water extract against tyrosinase was more harmonious andstabil than vitamin C and main content of sweet orange(Citrus sinensis) water extract. Keywords: Psidium guajava, Citrus sinensis, tyrosinase, vitamin Cand docking molecule

Moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leaves contains many molecules as inhibitors for free radicals such as phenolic compounds (phenolic acids, flavonoids, quinones, coumarins, lignans, stilbenes, tannins), nitrogen compounds (alkaloids, amines, betalain), vitamins, terpenoids (including carotenoids), and several other endogenous metabolites as antioxidants. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant potency of water and ethanol extracts of moringa (moringa oleifera Lam) leave obtained by maceration and dekok. The concentration of free radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer after addition of various concentrations of Moringa leaves extracts. Various concentrations of moringa leave extracts used were 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm and 80 ppm. Vitamin C solutions as the positive control were prepared on similar various concentrations. The negative control was prepared using DPPH solutions dissolved in absolute ethanol. The results indicated that the ethanol extract of moringa leaves prepared by maceration method showed the antioxidant potency with an IC50 value of 22.1818 ppm, but the IC50 value of water extract of moringa leaves prepared by dekok was 57.5439 ppm. While, the IC50 value of Vitamin C was 8.8084 ppm. Based on the IC50 data it can be concluded that Vitamin C is a stronger antioxidant than moringa leaves extracts.

Three putative terpenoid UDP-glycosyltransferase (UGT) genes, designated CsUGT1, CsUGT2, and CsUGT3, were isolated and characterized in ‘Valencia’ sweet orange ( Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck). CsUGT1 consisted of 1493 nucleotides with an open reading frame encoding 492 amino acids, CsUGT2 consisted of 1727 nucleotides encoding 504 amino acids, and CsUGT3 consisted of 1705 nucleotides encoding 468 amino acids. CsUGT3 had a 145 bp intron at 730–874, whereas CsUGT1 and CsUGT2 had none. The three deduced glycosyltransferase proteins had a highly conserved plant secondary product glycosyltransferase motif in the C terminus. Phylogenetic analysis showed that CsUGT1 and CsUGT3 were classified into group L of glycosyltransferase family 1, and CsUGT2 was classified into group D. Through Southern blotting analysis, CsUGT1 was found to have two copies in the sweet orange genome, whereas CsUGT2 and CsUGT3 had at least seven and nine copies, respectively. CsUGT1, CsUGT2, and CsUGT3 were constitutively expressed in leaf, flower, and fruit tissues. The results facilitate further investigation of the function of terpenoid glycosyltransferases in citrus and the biosynthesis of terpenoid glycosides in vitro.

ABSTRACT‘Kristal’ guava fruit can easily be deteriorated during storage. The objective of this experiment was to study the effect of the waxing on the shelflife and quality of the ‘Kristal’ guava fruit. Experiment was conducted at the Postharvest Laboratory of Departemen of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University from February to May 2016. The experiment was designed using completely randomized design (CRD) with single factor consisted of 5 treatments, i.e., 0% of beewax (control), 2% of beewax, 4% of beewax, 6% of beewax and 8% of beeswax. The results showed that beewax coating suppressed weight loss and softness of fruit compared to the control fruit during storage period. Beewax coating did not significantly affect chemical quality such as soluble solids content, titratable acidity and vitamin C. The beeswax coating with 2% and 4% were able to extend shelflife of ‘Kristal’ guava fruit 9 days longer as compared to the control. Keywords: ‘Krístal’, performance, quality, waxing, weight loss ABSTRAK Buah jambu ‘Kristal’ dapat dengan mudah rusak selama penyimpanan. Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is a lovely tropical and subtropical fruit that originates in Mexico, Central America, and then taken to other distant and near parts around the world. In Sudan this popular fruit is produced in orchards and household and is so profitable but yet attacked by a lot of fruit fly species of the Genera Ceratitis and Bactrocera and the result is a loss of more than 70%. This research aimed at evaluating the effect of Gum Arabic coating (GAC) in extending the shelf life of guava fruit and disinfesting it from these notorious pests. Guava fruits from Kadaro orchards, Khartoum North, were tested using seven concentrations of Gum Arabic solutions. The results reflect that 1: 4 (25%) and 1: 8 (12.5%) (GA: water) concentrations attained 56 and 40% disinfestation, respectively whereas the other lower concentrations effected corresponding results in a range from 20 – 08%. The reduction in maggots per test fruit reached upto 188% as compared to the control.  The highest concentrations (1: 4 & 1: 8) effected a sustainability of 52% in fruit firmness (FF) with an average of medium (3) FF compared to soft FF (4) in the control. The corresponding results in other lower concentrations (1: 16; 1: 32; 1: 64; 1: 72 & 1: 96) were 36, 24, 24, 20 and 16%, respectively. In addition to an average FF of 4 (soft) for all these concentrations and 5 (very soft) for all the corresponding controls. Nevertheless, the sustainability of fruit color (FC) effected by the test concentrations was 52, 44, 24, 22, 24, 20, and 24%, respectively. Regarding these results, the two highest test concentrations effected a sizeable disinfestation and control of fruit flies and a good extension of shelf life of guava in Khartoum State. These findings support using this treatment as an effective IPM tool to extend guava fruit shelf life and upgrading its postharvest quality.
