An annotated list of butterflies from Azerbaijan, containing 280 species, is presented. The classification and nomenclature in this work are accepted according to the key of Korb & Bolshakov (2016). The full list of species composition of butterflies of Azerbaijan numbering 280 species for today is presented for the first time, and it was supplemented by new materials collected by the first author from 2012 to 2019. We came up with the list of the total species composition of butterflies in Azerbaijan, which currently includes 280 species from 6 families (Hesperiidae - 37, Papilionidae - 10, Pieridae - 28, Lycaenidae - 100, Riodinidae - 1, Nimphalidae - 104) for today was compiled. We record Papilio demoleus demoleus Linnaeus, 1758 as a new species for the fauna of the Caucasus. Our results will help to continue biodiversity study and expand the information on the distribution of the butterflies (Papilionoformes) in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus.

The annotated list of hepatics of the Sochi National Park includes 80 taxa. It is based on literature records and identification of 250 specimens collected by the authors. Scapania obcordata (Berggr.) S. W. Arnell and Calypogeia fissa (L.) Raddi var. intermedia (C. E. O. Jensen) Jorg. are new for the Caucasus, 17 taxa are new for Krasnodar Territory, 41 hepatics are reported for the first time for the park. New localities of 3 red-listed European species and of 6 species included in the Red Data Book of Krasnodar Territory are cited, indicating significant conservation value of the reserve.

A new species, Pedicia (Pedicia) savtshenkoi, is described from Karachay-Cherkess Republic, Russia. This species of nominative subgenus Pedicia is discovered for the first time in the Caucasus. A key to males of West Palaearctic species of Pedicia (Pedicia) is presented.

For the first time, the article provides information about the features of the plant community of the cemeterial territories of Volgograd and the village of Arzgir of Stavropol Territory. The inventory of plants was carried out by the route method. Each route was about 10 km. For the first time, such cemetery territories were studied: the cemetery of the village of Gornaya Polyana and the Kirov cemetery in Volgograd, cemeteries No. 1 and No. 2. in the village of Arzgir of Stavropol Territory. The identification of samples was carried out by standard methods in the Laboratory of Experimental Biology of Volgograd State University (VolSU). The collected species are stored in the Botanical Herbarium of the University. The article presents an annotated list of cemeteria plants, including 44 species, indicating data on habitats and the date of collection. This annotated list will be the basis for conducting monitoring studies in the field of environmental protection, as well as optimizing the regional network of protected areas. A comparative analysis of the flora of the studied territories was carried out, according to which a slight difference was revealed. This difference is explained by the fact that the cemeterial territories of Volgograd is located inside the largest urbanized city, unlike the small village of Arzgir, and the species composition of plants in these two territories depends on the person because most of the species are cultivated. The data obtained as a result of the study will be used to develop questions of systematics, geography and ecology of plants. The revealed diversity of plants in the studied regions expands our knowledge about the ecology and distribution of species, allows us to systematize and generalize the available information, and also makes it possible to predict further botanical finds.



Mites of the family Erythraeidae Robineau-Desvoidy, 1828 are distributed worldwide and have been reported as natural enemies of sucking pests. Adults and deutonymphs are predators; larvae of most species are ectoparasites of different arthropods. They can be harmful to beekeeping. Some species cause dermatitis in humans. Erythraeidae of the Caucasus are poorly studied. This article is the first report on mites of the genus Erythraeus Latreille, 1806 of the family Erythraeidae living in Azerbaijan. An annotated list of five species of mites of this genus collected in the Greater Caucasus is provided: Erythraeus phalangoides (De Geer, 1778), E. regalis (C.L.Koch, 1837), E. gorcensis Gabrys, 2016, E. opilionoides (C.L.Koch, 1837), E. adpendiculatus (Schrank, 1781). All of them are recorded from Azerbaijan for the first time. An identification key to imago of the Erythraeus species is given. The original photographs of imago were taken to clarify the determination. Mites were collected in three landscape zones: semi-desert (4 species), mountain-steppe (2 species) and mountain-forest (2 species). The Absheron Peninsula (semi-desert) is studied best; four Erythraeus species were found there. Most of the species were collected in artificial forests with a predominance of Eldar pine (4 species, 12 individuals). In other biotopes, mites of the genus Erythraeus are rare: 2 species (3 individuals) were found in broad-leaved forests of the low mountains, 1 species (1 individual) in a forb steppe, 1 species (1 individual) in an arid open woodland consisted of weeping pear trees, 1 species (1 individual) in a garden. Only four individuals of E. regalis were recorded on plants. The other mites were collected under stones, which will make it possible to attribute them to herpetobionts, and E. regalis to herpeto-hortobionts. Out of 18 individuals found, 17 were adult, and one larva of E. regalis was removed from spittlebug on a blackberry. The most common Erythraeidae genus in the Greater Caucasus is Abrolophus Berlese, 1891 (39 individuals belonging to eight species were collected). This is the only genus of the family Erythraeidae, found in four landscape zones, from semi-desert to subalpine. The genus Erythraeus was not found in the subalpine zone.

An annotated list of dolichopodid species recorded from Kurile Archipelago (Russia) is given for the first time. Sciapus basarukini sp. n. from Kunashir Island is described and illustrated. New records for 26 species, including 8 species new for the Kurile Islands, are presented. Long-legged flies are recorded for the first time from the Anuchina, Tanfilyeva, Polonskogo, Urup, Chirpoy, Brat-Chirpoyev, Simushir, Ushishir, Matua, Raikoke, Paramushir, Kharimkotan, Makanrushi, Atlasov, and Onekotan islands. Two species are excluded from the fauna of Kurils. In total, 54 species are recorded from the Kurile Archipelago that appa¬rently makes up 50–60% of the actual dolichopodid fauna in this region. The trends discovered on the Kurile Islands for plant species, i.e. the landscape diversity and the number of plant species increase from small to large islands, and decrease from southern islands northward, are generally supported by the case of flies of the family Dolichopodidae.

As a result of the research, the species composition of lichens and closely related fungi of the oak forest of the reserve «Vydritsa» (Republic of Belarus, Gomel Region) has been revealed. An annotated list, including 113 species has been compiled, 106 of these species are lichens, 6 – non-lichenised saprobic and 1 – lichenicolous fungi. Species Calicium adspersum, Cetrelia olivetorum, Chaenotheca chlorella, Cladonia caespiticia, Lobaria pulmonaria and Parmotrema stuppeum are included in the Red Data Book of Belarus and are listed for the first time for the Svetlogorsk district and the reserve «Vydritsa». The indicator lichens of old-growth oak forests include 20 species; 28 species were recorded in all 12 surveyed localities.

Thirteen species of phytoseiid mites of the subfamilies Typhlodrominae and Phytoseiinae are reported for the first time from Spain. Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) baeticus sp. nov. is described and four species poorly known morphologically, Paraseiulus soleiger (Ribaga), Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) ilicis Athias-Henriot, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) recki Wainstein and Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) sapiens Athias-Henriot are re-described based on new materials collected in Spain. Finally, the unknown male of Typhloseiulus eleonorae Ragusa & Swirski is described and additional morphological information is provided for other seven species.

An annotated list of the Cossidae of the Republic of Angola, including 24 species from 12 genera in two subfamilies, is presented. Thirteen species of Cossidae are reported for the first time from Angola. Strigocossus otti is described as a new species, sp. nov.

Platycheirus shantar sp. n. is described and illustrated from Khabarov¬sky krai in Russia. The holotype of new species is deposited in the Federal Scientific Center of East Asia Terrestrial Biodiversity, Vladivostok, Russia. An annotated list of 41 hover-flies species discovered in the Bolshoi Shantar Island is given; almost all of them are recorded from this island for the first time.

Leaf- and fruit-feeding chrysomelids (Coleoptera) on bananas and plantains (Musaceae, Zingiberales) cause major losses to banana growers in the northern and northeastern regions of India, Bangladesh, and other parts of Southeast Asia. The species composition of these beetles has not been studied so far in India and wrong names or wrong name combinations in the literature have caused confusion. Most particularly, the Central and South American apecies of Colaspis hypochlora Lefèvre (Chrysomelidae, Eumolpinae) has been erroneously reported as occurring in India and Bangladesh, and this name has been used for the Indian species. Based on extensive surveys for leaf- and fruit-feeding chrysomelids in the northern and northeastern regions of India from 2015 to 2019, three species of banana-feeding chrysomelids, namely, Basilepta subcostata (Jacoby) (Eumolpinae), Bhamoina varipes (Jacoby), and a new species, Sphaeroderma cruentasp. nov. (Galerucinae, Alticini), are documented. Of these, the latter two are recorded as pests of banana in India for the first time. An illustrated diagnostic account of these three species is given to facilitate their identification by economic entomologists. COI sequences of populations of B. subcostata from Assam and Uttar Pradesh showed 98–100% homology, indicating that these populations are conspecific and that COI sequences can be used for rapid species determination. Brief notes on the biology and available management options for these pests are also given.
