It is a general trend that higher education institutions must undergo one or more ranking agencies evaluation to get reputed in the field of education. Institutions must have a place in the ranking to attract students, faculty and even for successful foreign student exchange programs. Prominence in research is an important parameter to scale the eminence of an institution. A quantum of quality publications is one of the factors judging the prevailing research environment of an institution. While doing an institutional level evaluation on research output, we always go for quantitative measures like total publication, citation and h-index. In the present scenario, the institution must set to have a strategy in achieving ambitious scientific goals. This paper presents some innovative analysis of research data by choosing valuable metrics. The samples selected for the study are the top-ranked institutions in India. The same approach can be applied to any institutions in the world for evaluation and excellence. We have done qualitative-quantitative analysis using different parameters of research output to explain the importance of various metrics. The present study has identified metrics which can be considered seriously to achieve better performance in research output. It is a fused index metrics which explains along with Scholarly Output, the importance of Cited and Uncited Publications and different types of Collaborations and its impact on the overall performance of an institution.

Sampson and Smith's Worldmindedness scale is a 32-item disagree-agree inventory designed to assess worldminded values in individuals. This procedure, developed and tested in the United States, has here been applied to a Canadian sample of 91 company hirers of foreign students and 21 company nonhirers of such. In doing so, the stability of previous findings for USA students and the reliability of the instrument have also been assessed. Also, using a series of disagree-agree attitudinal items, the hirers were asked about their satisfaction with and commitment to foreign student exchange programs and services. The instrument was distributed to all respondents by mail. A primary finding was that hirers of foreign students appear to have higher worldmindedness scores than North American students and nonhirers of foreign students. Implications of this research along marketing lines are discussed.

This chapter explains that migration is a collective action orchestrated by different actors, both human and nonhuman, that either facilitate or hamper mobility. It presents the demographic and residential profiles of the major immigrant groups in Japan. The chapter then categorizes the channels and processes of migration that have helped shape such particular demographic profiles of Japan's immigrants. These channels include side doors for the importation of “unskilled workers” and selective talent programs for skilled migrants; marriage migration; and the expanding networks of global mobility such as student exchange programs, research collaborations, and recruitment agencies. The chapter uses the logic of different dimensions of this migration infrastructure to discuss the particular outcomes of different types of migration.

The study maps the research output from University of Kashmir, one of the premier higher education institutes of Jammu&Kashmir state, India. Elseviers SciVerse Scopus one of the leading indexing abstracting services was queried for a period of 1963- February 2015 using the affiliation search feature for University of Kashmir. The works of the authors affiliated with University of Kashmir have been analyzed. Statistical analysis of the retrieved data was performed. The publication output from University of Kashmir has shown a promising growth expect for some years in 1990s which can be attributed to the political instability in the state. The highest contributing authors are from Science disciplines with authors from Chemistry, Botany, Electronics, Biochemistry, and Centre of Research for Development departments having a higher rate of h-Index. Majority of papers are published in Indian sources followed by the sources from US, Germany and China. Majority of the authors are affiliated with University of Kashmir followed by Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (Earlier Regional Research Laboratory, Sanat Nagar), Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and Aligarh Muslim University. Articles have remained a prime document type for publishing by the authors from University of Kashmir followed by conference proceedings and review articles. Agricultural and Biological Sciences outscore other disciplines followed by Biochemistry, Genetics & Molecular Biology and Medicine. Future emphasis on joint research, international collaboration, and publishing in indexed journals is needed.

High performance heat exchangers represent nowadays the key of success to go on with the trend of miniaturizing electronic components as requested by the industry. This numerical study, based on Bejan’s Constructal theory, analyzes the thermal behavior of heat removing fin modules, comparing their performances when operating with different types of fluids. In particular, the simulations involve air and water (as representative of gases and liquids), to understand the actual benefits of employing a less heat conductive fluid involving smaller pressure losses or vice versa. The analysis parameters typical of a Constructal description (such as conductance or Overall Performance Coefficient) show that significantly improved performances may be achieved when using water, even if an unavoidable increase in pressure losses affects the liquid-refrigerated case. Considering the overall performance: if the parameter called Relevance tends to 0, air prevails; if it tends to 1, water prevails; if its value is about 0.5, water prevails in most of the case studies.

The importance of international engineering student exchange programs in today’s increasingly global marketplace is well accepted. This report describes aspects of the experience of the University of Waterloo with such a program which involves 26 institutions in 14 countries. A major element in a successful link is close collaboration between faculty coordinators at the two institutions.

Differences in contact impedance of the ECG measurement electrodes lead to asymmetries of the signal paths and thus result in reduced common-mode rejection and artifacts. Here, the imbalance of contact impedance is investigated for<br>different types of electrodes with capacitive coupling in terms of static imbalance as well as dynamic variation during body movement. Flexible and incompressible materials like conductive foam and fabric showed the best overall performance. The negative effect of rigidity can partly be compensated by adding conducting foam, while soft materials can profit from an increase of electrode area. <br>

In this study, we examine the relationship of the ASY-H index characterizing the partial ring current intensity with interplanetary medium parameters and auroral activity during the main phase of magnetic storms, induced by the solar wind (SW) of different types. Over the period 1979–2017, 107 magnetic storms driven by CIR and ICME (MC + Ejecta) events have been selected. We consider magnetic storms with Dstmin≤ – 50 nT. The average ASY-H index (ASYaver) during the magnetic storm main phase is shown to increase with increasing SW electric field and southward IMF Bz regardless of SW type. There is no relationship between ASYaver and SW velocity. For the CIR and ICME events, the average AE (AEaver) and Kp (Kp aver) indices have been found to correlate with ASYaver. The highest correlation coefficient between AEaver and ASYaver (r = 0.74) is observed for the magnetic storms generated by CIR events. A closer relationship between Kp aver and ASYaver (r = 0.64) is observed for the magnetic storms induced by ICME events. The ASYaver variations correlate with Dstmin. The relationship between ASYaver and the rate of storm development is weak.
