Abstract Quality techniques and Design for Six Sigma methodology are complex areas that need to be understood through correlation of theoretical and practical teaching. Universities started to apply different approaches for achieving better results, on building greater knowledge and skills for their students. The paper presents a methodology of teaching quality techniques and DFSS methodology, an approach that is focused on understanding the concepts through technical examples from industry and applying the knowledge within a project. A model is proposed for teaching Design for Six Sigma methodology through a workshop done in the classroom. The students are split into groups and will practically work through the main elements of DFSS methodology, for improving the quality of a chosen product by re-designing it. The objective of research is to analyze the performance of this methodology and to identify the strong points. The measurement is done through feedbacks received from students, that is presented at the end of the paper. The methodologies used during research consist of bibliographic research, observational study on classroom, questionnaire and interview technique.

In the current scenario quality control became mandatory for all the sectors .This study is intended to examine the impact of internet facilities on students’ performance through a Blended Learning as a medium in an academic institution. It was examined, how the Blended Learning encompasses a variety of tools to create flexible, rich learning environments that stimulate learners and maximizes the potential for learning? Another objective is Application of Six Sigma methodology in this study is to improve the medium of learning i.e. internet connectivity through a set of procedures in an effective way. Six Sigma can be again viewed as a discipline or an approach driven by data and methodology for eliminating defects in any process- from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service.Keeping the aforesaid two objectives in mind, data was collected from a sample of 119 students residing in various hostel blocks using stratified random sampling technique. Questionnaire was developed after an extensive literature review to measure the impact of internet connectivity in Blended Learning of the students. The questionnaire to measure was based on the model developed by Shawn M. Glynn (2011).The scale was developed by referring to previous models developed by various authors to measure the impact of internet connectivity in the Blended Learning of the students. The statistical analysis used was reliability statistics, KMO, Bartlett’s test and Factor Analysis. The data was analyzed by SPSS version 20). Purpose In recent times, the idea of taking advantage of the benefits of simulation techniques and Six Sigma discipline altogether has led various organizations towards implementation of simulation tools within Six Sigma methodology. The purpose of this study is to provide a more comprehensive literature review on the topic exploring how this amalgamation could work both in theory and practice. This precisely entailed finding dependable studies that shows how Six Sigma (DMAIC) Methodology can be enhanced by the three prevalent simulation techniques; Agent-Based (AB), Discrete-Events (DE), System Dynamics (SD). Design/methodology/approach A systematic literature review was considered more fitting in research because it involves rigorous and well-defined approach compared to other forms of literature review. In this case, the literature was comprehensive, well-encompassing and involved finding Six Sigma and Simulations literatures from reputable scholarly databases. The outcome of these reviews was the identification of a set of key finding compiled and classified by topics. The study follows an inductive approach and utilises a meta-synthesis review technique. Findings As numerous studies assert, simulation techniques including AB, DE and SD are applicable tools in almost every stage of DMAIC, especially the Analyse, Improve and Control phases, because of their capability to test and identify potential bottlenecks and improvement areas. Findings show that the simulation tools such as CLDs, Group Model Building, Dynamic Balance Scorecards and Cost of poor quality all have the potential to add value to a Six Sigma methodology. Originality/value The findings of this study highlight the importance of further inquiry in this area of study. The finding of this study suggests that although the study on the integration of Six Sigma and simulations is increasing, empirical evidence on its effectiveness is still limited. Therefore, this study suggests more roadmaps and investigations aimed at merging Six Sigma methodology and various simulation technique. Moreover, studies that centre on hybrid or multi-method simulations within Six Sigma are also urgently necessitated.

Six Sigma was launched at GE in 1995 by Jack Welch as a systematic way of improving the quality of delivered products and reducing cost across the entire Corporation. Soon after the first wave of Master Black Belts returned from their initial training, it was obvious that GE needed a “version” of Six Sigma adapted by a Design Engineering community that was focused on achieving specific goals of improved product performance, reliability and producibility while achieving a simultaneous reduction in the design cycle time for new products. The purpose of this paper is to share our lessons learned in adapting Six Sigma to the needs of the Design Engineering Community.

This work presents results of improvement in the productivity of Arthrospira platensis (spirulina) in a company dedicated to its production. The six sigma methodology was applied in production processes that require the use of bioreactors. Starting from the analysis of the current state, aspects, physical and chemical variables that directly influence the productivity achieved were identified. Various culture media were tested and subsequently scaled for industrial production. In addition, the incorporation of carbon into the culture medium was controlled, optimizing the range of potential hydrogen pH. The identified parameters were measured and six sigma methodology strategies were assigned. An improvement in productivity corresponding to 66% was verified with the same quality of final product. The purpose of the study is to explore the factors influencing the quality of English LL as a foreign language in secondary education. A questionnaire was constructed and applied to cover the main objectives of the current research. A survey method using a five-point Likert-type questionnaire was applied to collect the data from 67 teachers teaching the English language at the school level in the schools of southern Punjab, Pakistan. Collected data were entered in SPSS (Statistical Package for social science). The data was analyzed by using related statistical Testes i.e. descriptive statistics, T-test ANOVA, etc. Findings of the study support appointment of non-qualified teachers, teaching English through science teachers, lack of proper teaching aids through proper and effective English language teaching methodology, lack of proper teachers' professional training, and overcrowded classrooms. On the basis of findings, proper English teachers with appropriate use of teaching methodology to the apt size of the class is recommended.

The burden and assertion on the quality of teaching staff in an academic institution have recently become a discussion nationwide and this is owned to the claim of a possible huge resources committed to the education sector without commensurate results. The cry for the integration of Information and Communication Technology into school learning curriculum has further raised the hope of people on maximum productivity of teaching staff in tertiary institution. However, this seems to be eluding because, institutions on yearly basis produced students who are not ICT oriented, thereby, leaving the general public with question of teacher’s productivity. In this paper, a survey was conducted to ascertain the level of ICT compliance on teaching staff productivity and in addition, review was carried out to know if ICT has direct impact on teaching quality as well as proffer possible solutions that could aid smooth delivering of teaching methodology (that is ICT compliance). From the analysis, it was observed that most of the respondents agreed that ICT role has tremendous impact on the quality of teaching staff productivity. The standard value of 2.41 mean showed clearly that the respondents calculated value which is 2.66 empirically demonstrated that the majority of the respondents are in agreement that ICT plays a tangible role in the teaching staff productivity.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the results and quality of pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructor training courses. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed of the results of 24 pediatric CPR instructor courses held over 21 years (1999 to 2019). The results of participants’ evaluation of theory and practice sessions were analyzed. In addition, participants were asked to answer an anonymous survey to assess their opinion on the quality of theory and practice lessons, course organization and methodology, and instructor training. The results were compared by professional groups. Results A total of 560 participants completed the instructor course. Of them, 554 passed theory and practice tests (98.9%). The mean score obtained in theory tests was 9.2 (0.8) out of 10. The mean score obtained in all practice tests was > 3.5 out of 5. Participants evaluated all the aspects of the course (theory and practice content, organization, teaching methodology, and instructors) with mean scores over 8 out of 10.Conclusions Specific pediatric and neonatal CPR instructor courses are a cornerstone in the process of CPR training and ensuring the homogeneity and quality of training. Most of the participants obtained the qualification of instructors and their evaluation of the course was very positive.

The study aimed at acknowledging the Six Sigma methodology and the existence of the essential components for the application, as well as reducing the time for completing the operations, reducing the error rate to the lowest possible level, and improving the quality of operations. For this objective, the analytical descriptive methodology was used on a sample consisted of 300 administrative and medical staff from Khartoum State Hospitals (Khartoum, Omdurman, Bahri). To this end, a questionnaire was used for collecting data and for analyzing it and achieving the results of the study by using the statistical analysis package (SPSS). The study deduced a number of results, the most important of which are that the items of commitment and supreme command support for the senior leadership and the methods of abundant human resources on quality control, and the application of the Six Sigma methodology in government hospitals in Khartoum state achieved a satisfactory level, while continuous improvement paragraphs, processes, and systems on quality control and the application of Six Sigma methodology achieved high quality. There is a significant effect on the extent of commitment and support of the higher leadership on quality control and the application of the Six Sigma methodology. Similarly, there is a statistically significant effect on the application of continuous improvement methods on quality control and Six Sigma methodology. Also, there is a statistically significant effect on the application of the abundance of human resources methods variable on quality control and the application of Six Sigma methodology in governmental hospitals in Khartoum state. The study recommended to take interest in the Six Sigma methodology and assure the possibility of using it in Khartoum State’s hospitals because of its scientific and practical importance in improving the quality of services and provided processes, and the need to provide qualified financial and human resources for using and developing Six Sigma methodology in hospitals, as well as great attention in training and providing departments heads with full knowledge of Six Sigma methodology and the fundamentals on which Six Sigma methodology, is based on its importance for hospitals. The study also recommended associating the promotions system in government hospitals in Khartoum state with the quality control program.
