ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the conicity index in people with hypertension followed in the Brazil’s Family Health Strategy. Methods: cross-sectional study conducted in a medium-sized municipality located in the state of Paraná. Data collection took place in the first semester of 2016. using an adapted and validated instrument. which addresses attributes of Primary Health Care. Sociodemographic and anthropometric variables and blood pressure were used in the study. The analysis of variance and linear regression was used to analyze the variables. Results: a total of 417 people participated in the study. most were women. elderly. married. with less than eight years of education and retired. Conicity index was prevalent in most of the study population. being significantly associated with the group of people with inadequate blood pressure control and high anthropometric parameters. Conclusions: most of the study participants had altered conicity index. especially those with inadequate blood pressure control.

ABSTRACT Objective: to evaluate the adherence and associate it to blood pressure control and to follow-up observation of people with hypertension in the Brazil’s Family Health Strategy. Method: cross-sectional study, conducted with 417 people in treatment of hypertension, living in a municipality located in the Northwest region of the state of Paraná, Brazil. The data were collected in the first 2016 semester, using an instrument adapted and validated for the evaluation of satisfaction with the services offered by Primary Health Care. Analysis of variance and the logistic regression model were used for the treatment of variables. Results: it was evidenced that people with inadequate follow-up observation evaluate the relations between professional/user and the guidance to the medications used as unsatisfactory. Conclusion: weak guidelines and ineffective dialogue between health professionals and users might result in an inadequate follow-up observation of blood pressure control and of people with hypertension.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of high blood pressure (HBP), self-reported hypertension, and associated factors among in elderly enrolled in the Family Health Strategy (FHS) Program. Method: This is a cross-sectional study with in elderly enrolled in the FHS Program of Campina Grande/Paraíba/Brazil. This study determined the prevalence of HBP and self-reported hypertension and their associations with demographic, socioeconomic variables, lifestyle, and number of self-reported morbidities. Three blood pressure measurements were performed, and the average value was used for analysis. To control possible confounding factors, data were modeled by the method of linear models generalized with Poisson log modeling to determine prevalence ratios and confidence intervals. The SPSS 22.0 statistical application was used, and 5% significance level was adopted. Results: High prevalence of HBP (80.9%) was observed, which was associated with the number of self-reported morbidities, both in the univariate and multivariate analyses. High prevalence of self-reported hypertension (66.4%) was also observed. In the final model, positive association between hypertension and demographic and socioeconomic variables and lifestyle was verified. Discussion: Monitor hypertension should be a priority action given its association with genetic, social and behavioral conditions presented by individuals.

Methodology Intervention study with an epidemiological approach, studies in the community, sample of 30 registered users on FHU aged ≥ 60 years old. Data collection was performed using an instrument that contained sociodemographic information, and evaluation of blood pressure and glucose levels, weight and height for later calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI). The physical activity program was conducted during the period of 10 months, with a frequency of 5 days/weeks. The activities were carried out in a city of FHU of Iguaí (BA). The data from this study were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS 15.0. Results After the intervention, there was a statistically significant reduction in levels in the blood pressure and glucose levels, and reduction in body mass index, indicating the importance of this intervention as a form of non-pharmacological treatment for hypertension and diabetes. Conclusion We observed the effectiveness of the intervention was possible to reduce risk factors, but it is necessary that the projects have sustainability, to continue with its development.

The SERVIDIAH study (Evaluation of Health Services for Diabetic and Hypertensive Subjects) was conducted in 2010 in the State of Pernambuco, Brazil. A multi-stage random sample of 785 hypertensive and 823 diabetic patients was drawn from 208 Family Health Strategy (FHS) units selected throughout 35 municipalities. Patients underwent a structured interview and weight, height, blood pressure and HbA1c levels (for diabetic patients) were measured. Mean age was approximately 60 years, and women were overrepresented in the sample (70%). 43.7% of hypertensive subjects and 25.8% of diabetic subjects achieved adequate blood pressure control and 30.5% of diabetic subjects had HbA1c levels below 7%. Despite 70% of the patients being overweight or obese, few had adhered to a weight-loss diet. The study of this representative sample of hypertensive and diabetic patients attended by the FHS in the State of Pernambuco shows that improvements in the management of hypertension and diabetes are needed in order to prevent the occurrence of serious and costly complications, especially given the context of increasing incidence of these two conditions.
