In 2019 we began an intergenerational Land-based learning program with the goal of engaging a group of Mi’kmaw youth from a rural community in Nova Scotia with their Traditional Foodways. When COVID-19 and the physical distancing restrictions hit Nova Scotia, however, this changed how we implemented the project. We decided to bring youth together virtually and encourage self-directed Land-based learning. This paper describes the dilemmas we faced as we considered what initially seemed like a paradoxical relationship- using online technology to promote Land-based learning. Our aim is to not only draw attention to what we believe to be the centrality of the Land in understanding Indigenous foodways, but also the potential for online technology to enhance youth engagement on and with the Land. We begin by exploring Land-based learning and how it supports teaching about Traditional foodways and Indigenous culture, as well as the challenges and opportunities related to implementing Land-based pedagogy in a virtual environment. Using Etuaptmumk-Two Eyed Seeing as our lens, we argue that online technologies can support Land-based learning, providing principles of local culture are respected and the technology is compatible with community values.

A national study conducted with the members of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) database examined school counselors’ utilization of online technologies. The researchers also explored beliefs and practices and examined mitigating factors such as school counselors’ background, training, and experience. Training impacted counselors’ belief in the advantages of technology and their level of comfort. Females were significantly more likely to blur personal and professional boundaries irrespective of their training. The article discusses implications for school counselors.

Indonesia is famous for its diverse ethnicity. This ethnic diversity affects the diversity of community values in building interactions. People build interaction one of them to meet the needs of his life, so that people in general use institutional as a container to interact with each other in accordance with prevailing norms and values. The most primary needs of the community is to meet the needs of food and board clothing. Institutions that meet this need are economic institutions. The formulation of the problem of this research are (1) How is local institution developing in multiethnic rural community in Bonegunu Sub-district of North Buton Regency ? (2) What is the economic condition of multiethnic rural community in Bonegunu Sub-district of North Buton Regency ? and (3) How is the Institutional Role local in improving the economy of multiethnic rural communities in Bonegunu Sub-district of North Buton Regency ? This research is a qualitative research with purposive informant selection technique. The result of this research is the local institution that developed in Bonegunu Sub-district that is Customary Institution. Bonegunu Sub-district generally has high potential of rice fields. However, this potential has not been utilized properly due to the absence of adequate irrigation channels. Therefore, people use social capital and kinship relationships that exist between them. In addition, the consensus is built between ethnic groups also make multiethnic communities can together to solve economic problems without losing their identity.Keywords: Ethnicity, Poverty, Social Capital---------------------------------ABSTRAKIndonesia terkenal dengan keragaman etnisnya. Keragaman etnis ini mempengaruhi keragaman nilai-nilai masyarakat dalam membangun interaksi. Orang membangun interaksi salah satunya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya, sehingga orang pada umumnya menggunakan kelembagaan sebagai wadah untuk berinteraksi satu sama lain sesuai dengan norma dan nilai yang berlaku. Kebutuhan utama masyarakat adalah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan makanan, pakaian, dan papan. Lembaga yang memenuhi kebutuhan ini adalah lembaga ekonomi. Kabupaten Buton Utara merupakan kabupaten baru yang mekar dari kabupaten induknya yaitu kabupaten buton pada tahun 2007. Adanya kebijakan transmigrasi di Kabupaten Buton, membuat kabupaten ini memiliki masyarakat yang sangat heterogen. Terkait dengan keberagaman masyarakat Buton Utara akibat adanya kebijakan transmigrasi maka menarik untuk melihat bagaimana peran kelembagaan dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat? Merujuk hal tersebut, rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) Bagaimana institusi lokal berkembang di masyarakat pedesaan multietnis di Bonegunu Kecamatan Kabupaten Buton Utara?, (2) Bagaimana kondisi ekonomi masyarakat pedesaan multietnis di Kecamatan Bonegunu Kabupaten Buton Utara ?, dan (3) Bagaimana Peran Kelembagaan dalam meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat pedesaan multietnis di Bonegunu Kecamatan Kabupaten Buton Utara ?. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pemilihan informan purposive. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah institusi lokal yang berkembang di Kecamatan Bonegunu yang merupakan Lembaga Adat. Kecamatan Bonegunu umumnya memiliki potensi sawah yang tinggi. Namun, potensi ini belum dimanfaatkan dengan baik karena tidak adanya saluran irigasi yang memadai. Karena itu, orang menggunakan modal sosial dan hubungan kekeluargaan yang ada di antara mereka. Selain itu, konsensus yang dibangun antar kelompok etnis juga membuat komunitas multietnis dapat bersama-sama memecahkan masalah ekonomi tanpa kehilangan identitasnya.Kata Kunci: Etnisitas, Kemiskinan, Modal Sosial

Online technologies are becoming ubiquitous in higher education and present both challenges and opportunities for those involved in learning and teaching. This chapter reports on the research-enhanced implementation of Electronic Assessment Management (EAM) within one faculty of a university in Sydney, Australia. This research was conducted as a qualitative case study. Questionnaires were used to investigate staff and student experiences of EAM, and the researcher's reflective practice made it possible to capture important details of the implementation process mediated through the researchers as participants. The research found enormous potential in EAM implementation for cultural transformation in learning and teaching. The authors argue that the move to EAM is now a viable option for universities. The combination of a rapidly evolving higher education landscape, evidence from exploring both staff and student experiences of engaging with EAM, and the benefits which the transition offers for the professional development of academics make the use of EAM essential for reasons of both pedagogy and efficiency.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to drastic changes in all spheres of life. In terms of education, the pandemic modified the way of teaching and learning. To meet the demands of new circumstances, the priorities shifted towards the implementation of online technology. Thus, the article examines the peculiarities of changes that happened in the educational sphere due to the online technology implementation. It analyzes the positive and negative aspects of this phenomenon. Based on the results of the survey conducted among educators, the article identifies weak points and challenges that should be overcome in the future for the successful operation of educational establishments online. Besides, it studies a material base and tools available for free use for world educational establishments as well as a problem of creating online groups with an optimal number of students. The purpose of the research is a comprehensive study of transformations happening in the educational process due to the application of online technology tools at the world level.

Lifelong learning is quickly becoming an integrated part of todays working life because of the demand for keeping up to date with latest developments due to rapid change in technology and business. To maintain flexibility and quality, online technology is often used as a medium of educational service delivery. In this chapter, we examine a case where online technology has been used to coordinate virtual project teams (in an educational setting) around the world. The experience from the case study is that although online technology promises to offer an independent learning environment anytime and anywhere, only some aspects of the technology are useful depending on the nature of the task. In addition, there are behavioural and cultural issues, which can be exacerbated by underdeveloped personal relationships due to constraints imposed by online technology. The case study also shows that synchronous communication is not necessarily a better means to coordinate than its asynchronous counterpart. A challenge faced by online education providers is to find the right mix and how to come up with a framework that will provide optimal results.

While there are many studies about the environmental impacts of climate change in the Canadian north, the role of Indigenous youth in climate governance has been a lesser focus of inquiry. A popularized assumption in some literature is that youth have little to contribute to discussions on climate change and other aspects of land and resource management; such downplay of youth expertise and engagement may be contributing to climate anxiety (e.g., feelings of hopelessness), particularly in remote communities. Creating opportunities for youth to have a voice in global forums such as the United Nations Conference of Parties (COP24) on Climate Change may offset such anxiety. Building on previous research related to climate action, and the well-being of Indigenous youth, this paper shares the outcomes of research with Indigenous youth (along with family and teachers) from the Mackenzie River Basin who attended COP24 to determine the value of their experience. Key questions guiding these interviews included: How did youth impact others? and How did youth benefit from the experience? Key insights related to the value of a global experience; multiple youth presentations at COP24 were heard by hundreds of people who sought to learn more from youth about their experience of climate change. Additional insights were gathered about the importance of family and community (i.e., webs of support); social networks were seen as key to the success of youth who participated in the event and contributed to youth learning and leadership development.

The development of information technology has entailed an active rethinking of the concept of cultural memory, the transposition of the actual formats, methods of interpretation and presentation to the audience, in particular through online technologies and museum activities. Museums, which are formed exclusively on the basis of online technology, become a qualitatively new cultural form of activity, which terms and conceptual nomenclature were built spontaneously, empirically in the process of practical activity. The purpose of this research is to analyze the concept and peculiar features of an online (virtual) museum as a multidimensional phenomenon of an interdisciplinary nature, and to propose their classification based on best practices of Ukrainian and international museums.

Like those before them, contemporary youth are in the process of forming habits and orientations toward civic life that can establish patterns of political engagement that follow them through their lifetimes. Unlike earlier generations, however, early 21st-century “born digital” youth face a dramatically different communications environment than that experienced by their parents and grandparents. This chapter charts a path toward effective evaluation research for broadband within the specific domain of political and civic engagement among young people. After introducing core dimensions and constructs relevant to such a research program, it reviews key theoretical models as well as particularly fruitful strands of scholarship that can make important contributions to a program of broadband evaluation research focused on youth engagement. The chapter concludes with a discussion of challenges and opportunities for future research, both in terms of key substantive questions and particularly useful methodological approaches.
