THE PROBLEM of quantity and quality of school medical service has concerned some leaders in public health and education in this country for more than 50 years. To achieve a balance between quantity and quality within budget limits is a problem of great difficulty. The growth of population and increasing demands for service may at any time upset the best laid budget plans. In what follows, I shall deal with the progress of school medical service and consider those policies which have had a bearing upon the quality of services. Emphasis on Quantity About 1905, when physicians in schools began to give attention to non-contagious conditions of school children, many physical defects were noted. This was the beginning of a new type of official action in behalf of the health of school children. By 1923 many states had laws requiring annual school medical inspection. However, as there had been no specific standards of quantity or quality, those responsible for the service were troubled by the dilemma of deciding how much of each they should plan for. How much medical service was needed? Nearly every school medical and nursing service was reporting enormous numbers of defects found and this kept the focus upon a concern for more examinations and coverage to find them all. During the 1920's communicable disease epidemics encroached so heavily upon the time of doctors and nurses in the schools as to stop all examinations and follow-up work. In between epidemic periods the demand for inspections of suspected cases of communicable disease caused interference with the search for defects.

Bluecoke is a new type carbon product that prepared by low temperature carbonization process, which take lignite, long flame coal, not sticky and weak glue coal as raw material. At the same time tar and coke oven gas as by-products can be obtained. Two new technologies of Bluecoke production were introduced based on summary of way of producing Bluecoke by low metamorphic coal, namely the rich oxygen carbonization and the microwave carbonization. Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages. By contrast, the quality of coke and the content of valid gas are better using microwave carbonization, which to follow-up industry chains development significantly.

One of the objectives of regional autonomy is to bring services closer to the community, public service issues faced by the community must be immediately responded by the government. By inventorying and analyzing, it is necessary to improve the quality of services that are effective and efficient. This research was conducted to find out the improvement of the quality of public complaint services in realizing good governance in the Bondowoso District Inspectorate using descriptive qualitative research methods and analyzed an interactive model with a service quality theory and good governance approach so that it was known to improve the quality of public complaint services in realizing good governance in the Bondowoso District Inspectorate This is done through the use of an e-government named SIPEKA and steps are taken to continue developing the community complaints system through improving facilities and infrastructure, improving the quality of the human resources of the surveillance apparatus, improving the handling system for civil society complaints, and increasing the handling of follow-up to the results of the examination. Improving the quality of services and the use of e-government is part of realizing good governance, because basically good governance becomes an impossible case without the participation of all people on the basis of shared commitment, upholding the nation-state principle with a clear distinction between private and public affairs.

Abstract Background A triage approach to routine health assessments was introduced to improve the efficiency of Preventive Child Healthcare (PCH): PCH assistants carry out pre-assessments of all children and send the children with suspected health problems to follow-up assessments conducted by a physician or nurse. Each PCH service use their own protocol (with health themes such as visuals disorders, sleeping- and psychosocial problems) to determine whether a follow-up assessment is needed. In this study a novel standardized triage protocol was developed. The aim was to improve the quality of detection of health problems in primary school children by PCH by investigating the quality of detection of health problems and satisfaction of this novel triage protocol. Methods We included 459 primary school children undergoing routine health assessments in 2 PCH services across the Netherlands. We used parent-reported child problems and PCH registry data. After each assessment PCH professionals reported whether they had identified any problems and carried out any additional actions (e.g., additional assessments, referral). The validity of the protocol is assessed, with problems identified by PCH professionals and performing additional actions as criteria. Results Results showed that the psychometric properties of the novel triage protocol were moderate to good. Sensitivity (true positives) and specificity (true negatives) for the novel triage protocol were 0.73 and 0.62, respectively for the identification of any problems, and were 0.91 and 0.41, respectively, for additional PCH actions. Conclusions The novel triage protocol is a valid tool for the detection of health problem in primary school children by PCH. Few children with health problems were missed. Professionals and parents were very satisfied with the novel protocol. Professionals made specific recommendations about adaptations of the protocol to improve efficiency and facilitate implementation in daily PCH practice. Key messages The novel triage protocol is a valid tool for the detection of health problem in primary school children. For optimal implementation in preventive child healthcare the novel triage protocol needs some minor adaptations.

AbstractHotel companies are designed to accommodate people who travel for different reasons and need to rest, as they offer a service, inspections are constant in the work areas becoming an overwhelming task which is very difficult to assess. The aim of this study is to ensure quality of hosting service, for tourists to evaluate business processes and businesses can focus on customer satisfaction. The proper operation of the hotel company depends on the fact that the employees know the expectations of the customers and they in turn perceived the quality of services provided, this analysis shows the shortcomings, to determine the level of satisfaction with the service provided to customers, under the SERVQUAL methodology. The follow-up given in the main activities that are directly related to the customers will contribute to have a new vision of the service that is offered, so that processes can improve and in this way obtain customer satisfaction. The obtained results show that the analyzed perspectives give a global overview of the quality of hotel services of second category, having deficiencies in reliability and responsiveness of customers, which can be improved by standardizing processes and management.

Introduction — Burning is one of the most accidents with a higher rate of morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to investigate the status of nursing cares in the burning ward to improve the quality of nursing service following the education. Methods — An after-before intervention-educational audit study was conducted on burning ward nurses in Iran. The data were collected using a researcher-made checklist based on the Ministry of Health standards with “Yes/No” questions. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version.16 through descriptive statistics and Mc-Nemar nonparametric metric test. Results — The population consisted of 20 nurses working in the burning ward of the Sina Hospital in Tabriz/Iran. Presentation of nursing services was good in terms of the primary care (80.5%) and during hospitalization (83.4%); and it was weak in terms of the secondary care (42.5%). A significant improvement was observed following the educational intervention according to the results of the Mc-Nemar test performed before and after intervention (P<0.001). Conclusion — Audit education improved the nursing secondary cares and follow- up care after patients discharge. It is necessary to hold educational workshops for improving the nurses̓ performance in the other fields.

This paper is the result of a research that aimed to evaluate the quality of services at Patra Semarang Convention Hotel by using the Service Quality (SERVQUAL) and ImportancePerformance Matrix, and provide corrective suggestions for improving service quality on some priority attribute by using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in order to clarify the follow-up should be done to close the gap that happened between acceptable and what is expected by thecustomer. In this paper, evaluation of service quality is assessed through five gaps (gap 1untill gap 5) that occurred. This evaluation is done by distributing questionnaires to customers (110 respondents) and to the employee (85 respondents). Then, the results of these evaluation are placed in the quadrants contained on Importance Performance Matrix (IPM) (mapped) in order to capture the attributes that really matter to the satisfaction of the customers but their performance is still very low (negative). Result of this mapping shows that the Patra Semarang Convention Hotel should focus its quality improvement services to the five important attributes, i.e: easiness to access the information from internet, clarity of delivery of new information by employee, cleanliness of the hotel, availability of adequate parking area, and speed of employees in responding to the consumer complaints. All this important attributes will be a priority in product planning for improvements the quality of services provided.

Abstract Providing a Quality of Services (QoS) into current telecommunication networks based on packet technology is a big challenge nowadays. Network operators have to support a number of new services like voice or video which generate new type of traffic. This traffic serviced with QoS in consequence requires access to appropriate network resources. Additionally, new traffic type is mixed with older one, like best-effort. Analysis of these new and mixed traffic types shows that this traffic is self-similar. Network mechanisms used for delivery of quality of services may depend on traffic type especially from the performance point of view. This paper presents a feasibility study done into the effect of traffic type influence on performance of routing algorithm while the routing algorithm is treated as one of the mechanisms to support QoS in the network.

AbstractStrategies are needed to improve the dietary habits of children. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of implementing a school food programme on the dietary quality of lunches consumed by school children aged 7–13 years compared with packed lunches brought from home. A secondary objective was to investigate if a possible effect would differ between the younger children and the older. A quasi-experimental study design with four intervention schools and four matched control schools was conducted. In total, 984 school children participated. Data on packed lunches were collected at baseline. At the 1st follow-up the children in the intervention schools were offered free school meals and at the 2nd follow-up children paid for their school meals. The control group had packed lunches at all measurements. A digital photographic method combined with a Meal Index of dietary Quality (Meal IQ) was used for dietary assessment. Multilevel modelling was employed for data analyses. The quality of dietary intake was improved when free school meals were offered (P = 0·004); if the school meals were paid for the use was limited and no difference in change in dietary quality was found (P = 0·343). The school food programme had no difference in effect according to age (P = 0·083). In conclusion, offering a free school meal had a positive effect on dietary quality of the lunches consumed by school children aged 7–13 years. No effect was measured when the school meals were not provided for free. The dietary effect did not depend on age.
