Ecological soil physics as section of ecological soil science

Nowadays, there is a general penetration of ecology in other related sciences. Soil science is not an exception. To the evidence of this, the works of soil scientists may serve, that have appeared recently. It is shown that the ecology of soil is a broader area of the genetic soil science, than ecological soil science. In addition to the doctrine of the ecological functions of soil, modern soil ecology also includes the factor ecology and the doctrine of biosphere soil conservation. In modern soil science there are 2 main areas – fundamental, which aims to study all the features of soil as a natural body, and applied that examines various aspects of soil use by man. At the same time it should be noted that most of soil scientists until recently isolated a genetic soil science in two main areas – the genesis and the geography of soils. Academician L. I. Prasolov (1978) was the first who proposed to allocate soil ecology in a separate section of soil science, along with the above directions. V. R. Volobuev (1963) hold on to the similar views. I. A. Sokolov (1993) showed that the section «Soil ecology» is equal to such sections of soil science as the «Genesis of the soil» and «Geography of the soil». N. A. Gorin (2005) hold on to the similar point of view. On this basis, we offer the following vision of the place of soil ecology in the structure of modern soil science. This scheme is based on the allocation of basic research in the areas of soil science by the team of authors under the leadership of the Moscow State University V. A. Kovda and B. G. Rozanov (Pochvovedenie, 1988). The classification of the historic area of soil science is identified with the genesis of soil by us, and pedography – with the geography of soil. The scientific achievements of other fundamental areas (pedognostika, dynamic soil science, regional soil science, history and methodology of science) are widely used to address key issues of historical soil science and pedography. The structure of the direction «Ecology of soil» is developed by academician G. V. Dobrovolsky and E. D. Nikitin (2012). This doctrine of the ecological functions of soil, classification by B. F. Aparin (2012) is a fundamental direction, the theoretical basis of ecological soil science, related to the applied directions. After L. O. Karpachevsky (2005), who considers the ecological functions of soil subject as ecological soil science, we identify the ecological soil science with the doctrine of the ecological functions of soil in some extent. This view is confirmed by the definition of ecological soil science, formulated G. V. Dobrovolsky and G. S. Kust (2012) – «This is a direction in modern soil science, studied the role of soil as a unique habitat of plants, animals, microorganisms, and especially – in human life, in the functioning of the biosphere and the individual ecosystems». From the above definition, it is clear that in this case, the authors believe that the core of ecological soil science is ecological functions of soil, which manifest themselves through their specific role in nature and human life. The subject of the study of ecological soil science, as indicated by L. O. Karpachevsky (2005), is the ecological functions of soil. Modern physics of soil – is the area of soil science that studies the physical properties of the soil and the place in which physical processes are flowing (Voronin, 1986). As you can see from the definition, the ecological functions of soil caused by the physical properties of soil, remain outside the field of soil physics research. For this reason, there is a need for the provision and the development of ecological soil physics, which is based on theoretical and practical achievements of classical physics of soil, and will also pay close attention to research the ecological functions of soil.

Modern soil science concepts and ideas relating to classification were introduced into Australia in the late 1920's by J. A. Prescott who, in 1931 and 1944, also produced the first maps of Australia showing the broad soil zones. This was followed up in the fifties by C. G. Stephens who formalised the Great Soil Group concept in his Manual of Australian Soils (1953) and in 1961 produced a map and publication titled The Soil Landscapes of Australia. Around this time however, other ideas were being put forward, notably by E. G. Hallsworth and colleagues, and especially by G. W. Leeper, whose original ideas on classification were to provide the foundation for the Factual Key of K. H. Northcote (1960a), which was used as the basis of the Atlas of Australian Soils project (1960-68). The Great Soil Group concept of Stephens was amplified in 1968 in A Handbook of Australian Soils (Stace et al. 1968) which was produced for the Adelaide International Society of Soil Science Congress. This review also considers the role of numerical methods and of Soil Taxonomy in Australia and concludes that while neither are likely to provide the most suitable scheme for Australia, the use of the latter to identify our soils must be encouraged so that the rest of the world is able to relate to our published soil research. Currently, the Factual Key and Handbook classifications are both used in Australia. Both are obsolescent as they date from the early sixties and the vast amount of soils knowledge accumulated since then, particularly in tropical Australia, has not been incorporated into either system. Their deficiencies have led over the past seven years to the development of a new Australian Classification System (a five-level hierarchial general purpose scheme with mutually exclusive classes identified by keys). This scheme is now being tested throughout Australia.

Introduction. The improvement of the efficiency of older employees is based on the successful ageing paradigm, i.e. the ability to make up for age-related losses by means of selection, compensation, and optimisation. However, all the players on the labour market face an obstacle in the form of a common stereotype that older people are of ill health, unable to learn, apathetic, and lack motivation. Therefore, the implementation of a strategy for the protection of interests of the elderly in Russia requires studying the stages of the human life cycle with regard to the efficiency of employees. Purpose. The purpose of our study was to provide scientific justification for specifying the stages of the human life cycle and the possibility for older employees to remain efficient. The latter is ensured by the coordination of the organisation’s requirements and individual challenges and demands of the employees. Methodology. In our study, we used historical and logical approach to the analysis of theories suggested by Russian and international scholars, as well as major works and other publications on the topic. The analysis allowed us to determine the essence of the studied phenomenon not restricted by any particular form. We then synthesised the parts and dependencies determined via the analysis of the stages of the human life cycle. Such synthesis allowed us to focus on the development of a basis that can be used to slow down the ageing of human resources and maintain the efficiency of older employees. The other methods used in the study were induction, deduction, analogy, generalisation, comparative analysis, and systems analysis. Results. The article describes a basic research platform for studying the human life cycle, which differentiates between the stages of development, establishment, and deterioration with regard to the ability to perform job functions. It also substantiates the idea of the employee life cycle from the point of view of both employers and employees. The article specifies the three stages of the life cycle and summarises the existing approaches taking into account the new ageing paradigm. Conclusions. A paradigm is a way of perceiving the reality and viewing it as a new norm, which should be controlled, whenever possible. By controlling successful ageing through studying the content, specifics, and dynamics of the stages of the life cycle, we can extend the effective working stage of the human life cycle and ensure a good balance between effective work and private life, which over the years is filled with new sense and new difficulties. I.e. A phenomenon we could call a “sandwich effect”. The scientific approach to the problem allowed us to study both the theoretical basis of successful ageing and the practical side involving the healthcare system, the employer, and the employee.

AbstractAlthough visual culture of the 21th century increasingly focuses on representation of death and dying, contemporary discourses still lack a language of death adequate to the event shown by pictures and visual images from an outside point of view. Following this observation, this article suggests a re-reading of 20th century author Elias Canetti. His lifelong notes have been edited and published posthumously for the first time in 2014. Thanks to this edition Canetti's short texts and aphorisms can be focused as a textual laboratory in which he tries to model a language of death on experimental practices of natural sciences. The miniature series of experiments address the problem of death, not representable in discourses of cultural studies, system theory or history of knowledge, and in doing so, Canetti creates liminal texts at the margins of western concepts of (human) life, science and established textual form.

The author sets out to respond to the student complaint that ‘Philosophy did not answer “the big questions”’, in particular the question ‘What is the meaning of life?’ The response first outlines and evaluates the most common religious answer, that human life is given a meaning by God who created us and informs us that this life is just the pilgrim way to the next eternal life in heaven. He then discusses the response that, from the point of view of post-Darwinian science and the evolution of the universe and all that is in it, human life on Earth must be afforded no more meaning than the meaning we would give to a microscopic planaria or to some creature on another planet in a distant universe. All things including human creatures on Planet Earth just exist for a time and that is that. There is no plan or purpose. In the last sections the author outlines the view that it is we humans ourselves who give meaning to our lives by our choices of values or things that are worth pursuing and through our resulting sense of achievement or the opposite. Nevertheless the question ‘What is the meaning of life?’ can mean quite different things in different contexts, and so merit different if related answers. From one point of view one answer may lie in terms of the love of one human for another.

<p>Restoration mortars are a designated group of products made to repair damaged masonry. They must be compatible with the former support of stones and bricks, and protect original materials from environmental agents; aesthetical and historic aspects must not be neglected. </p><p>To improve the ecological footprint of the restoration mortars while keeping their efficiency, we have tested several combinations of lime with aggregates and additives. Recycled and natural materials were used as additives such as pinecone resin, semi-milled cones of pine, milled glass waste, brick production residue.</p><p>For research purposes different physical properties have been measured in prepared mortars: porosity, density, capillarity absorption, moisture absorption, water vapour permeability. We have also tested the mechanical properties and the P and S waves velocities (from which dynamic Young's modulus and Poisson’s ratio were inferred). The durability of mortars has been estimated by salt crystallization and frost/thaw cycles.</p><p>The life cycle analysis (LCA) of such mortars allows us to understand the carbon footprint of each manufacturing process. Considering this we selected the raw materials, from an environmental and commercial point of view, to produce mortars fulfilling sustainability requirements. As a result, the developed mortars are compatible with aged stones, minimize environmental impact, and use minimum natural resources.</p><p> Twenty mortar formulations with three different types of limes (NHL5, NHL3.5, CL90) and two different aggregates (siliceous and calcareous) have been studied using the LCA. Currently, five new formulations are being selected to be tested on Euville limestone. Adhesive strength (James Bond test), and physical properties will be measured on these mortars. </p>

По данным ВОЗ, за последнее столетие продолжительность жизни человека значительно увеличилась во всем мире, но этот процесс неизбежно сопровождается старением. Поэтому лица, достигшие пожилого и старческого возраста, нередко становятся немощными, особенно в физическом плане. В итоге, таким людям всё труднее даются движения, связанные с самообслуживанием и передвижением, при пользовании типовой одеждой и обувью. В процессе обследования 55 пациентов 60-87 лет, проведённого впервые с позиций медико-социальной реабилитации, получены данные о характере ограничений физических возможностей этого контингента людей, существенно осложняющих использование ими типовой одежды и обуви. Основной вывод работы заключается в актуальности разработки медико-технических требований, предъявляемых к проектированию и производству одежды и обуви специально для данной категории людей с учетом их измененных антропометрических параметров и характерных для них функциональных ограничений. According to the World Health Organization, human life expectancy has increased signifi cantly around the world over the past century, but this process is inevitably accompanied by aging. Therefore, persons who have reached the elderly and senile age often become infirm, especially physically. As a result, such people find it increasingly difficult to make movements related to self-service and movement when using standard clothing and shoes. In a study of 55 patients (from 60 to 87 years), conducted for the first time from the point of view of medical and social rehabilitation, data were obtained that reveal the nature of physical limitations of this group of people, which significantly complicate them use of standard clothing and shoes. The main conclusion of the work is the relevance of the development of medical and technical requirements for the design and production of clothing and footwear specifically for the elderly and senile taking into account their changed anthropometric parameters and their characteristic functional limitations.

Major CO2 emitters such as individual states of the USA, the People's Republic of China and the European Union continue to rely on emissions trading systems to reduce CO2 emissions. Against this background, this thesis examines four emissions trading systems in the USA. For this purpose, the legal and economic fundamentals of emissions trading are presented in detail. Subsequently, emissions trading systems are analyzed from an economic as well as a legal point of view based on criteria defined for this purpose and the results are embedded in the context of national and international law. For this purpose, the author conducts extensive basic research by processing the available emissions and trade data.

Objetiva-se discutir neste breve intróito retrospectivo de revisão de normatizações constitucionais pátrias a tutela do animal doméstico. Esta síntese reflexiva sobre a tutela do animal doméstico brasileiro no âmbito constitucional se apresenta quanto à forma de abordagem do assunto, como qualitativo, no que tange a modalidade investigativa como básico, do ponto de vista de seus objetivos, como descritivo, com relação aos procedimentos técnicos, qualifica-se como documental e bibliográfico. Conclui-se que os delineamentos, os limites, bem como os avanços na conquista da tutela animal e consequentemente do animal doméstico demonstram o quanto o reconhecimento de tal questão é socialmente construído. Além disso, a expansão, a solidificação e o desenvolvimento contínuo também da vida humana e da sociedade implicam necessariamente na preservação e na ampliação de acesso um direito fundamental nominalmente reconhecido pela Constituição Federal de 1988 como direito ao ambiente ecologicamente equilibrado no qual se insere evidentemente a fauna, ou seja, os animais domésticos, domesticados, silvestres e exóticos. Palavras-chave: Animal Doméstico. Tutela. Constituições Federais. Brasil.  AbstractThe objective of this brief retrospective introjective review of constitutional norms is to discuss the protection of domestic animals. This reflexive synthesis about the protection of the Brazilian domestic animal in the constitutional scope presents itself as to the way of approaching the subject, as qualitative, in what refers to the research modality as basic, from the point of view of its objectives, as descriptive, with respect to the procedures technicians, qualifies as documentary and bibliographical. It is concluded that the delineations, the limits, as well as the advances in the conquest of the animal guardianship and consequently of the domestic animal demonstrate how much the recognition of such question is socially constructed. In addition, the expansion, solidification and continuous development of human life and society necessarily imply the preservation and expansion of access to a fundamental right nominally recognized by the Federal Constitution of 1988 as a right to an environmentally balanced environment in which the animal, domesticated, wild and exotic animals. Keywords: Domestic Animals.
