Kawakawa (Euthynnus affinis Cantor, 1849) one of the important catch for small-scale fisheries in Tanjung Luar, West Nusa Tenggara. Squid (Loligo chinensis) played an important role in small scale fisheries in Banyuasin Coastal Waters, however, the information and publications were limited. This study aimed to estimate the length at first capture (LC50%), the length at first maturity (Lm), growth pattern and condition factor of L. chinensis from Banyuasin Coastal Waters of South Sumatra. The squids were observed for samples in April 2018 and March 2019 using a stationary lift net. During the observation, the squid measurement was conducted on 1179 individuals. The mantle length ranged was 40-210 mm and their body weight ranged was 2-42 gr. The value of LC50%, Lm and ½L∞ were obtained at 103 mm, 147 mm, and 110.5 mm respectively. The analysis results of the length-weight relationship (W = 0.0145L1.4618, R2 = 0.9265 and P < 0.05) showed that their growth pattern was negative allometric (b < 3).  The mean relative condition factor (Kn = 1.01) above the critical value limits (K=0.56) confirmed that the environmental condition of Banyuasin Coastal Waters suitable for the L. chinensis growth. However, should be careful with their length size of the squid catch were not feasible in the capture.

Frigate tuna (Auxis thazard) is one of the major commercial tuna species, both in industrial and small scale fisheries, particularly in the waters off Western Sumatera. In Indonesia, A. thazard is a group of locally called “tongkol” together with A. rochei, Thunnus tonggol, and Euthynnus affinis. This study describes a preliminary examination of frigate tuna catch from purse seine off the coast of western Sumatera (FMA 572). The data were collected daily by an enumerator on the fish landing site from 2013 to 2017, including fishing gear, number of days at sea, catch, length, and weight of frigate tuna. The fishing ground coordinate data provided by the observer on board the vessel. General Linear Model (GLM) with gamma was applied in this study to standardize the CPUE by year, quarter, season, and GT as fixed variables. The results showed that the variation of CPUE was mostly influenced by year and quarter, while season and fleet size (GT) showed less impact on the catch. In general, even though the catch trend declines during the observation years, the population of frigate tuna off the coast of western Sumatera (FMA 572) were considered sustainable.

Yellowfin tuna, Thunnus albacares (Bonnaterre, 1788) is one of the important economically for tuna species that spread in Indonesian waters, including in WPP 572 (Indian Ocean west coast of Sumatra). One important aspect relating to sustainable utilization is the growth pattern and the condition factor. This study aims to examine growth patterns and factor conditions of yellowfin tuna in the Eastern Indian Ocean. The number of fish samples measured in length and weight is 7,550 with length range from 76-176 cm (average: 129.03 cm) and mode at 150 cm. The length weight relationship of the species is W=4x10-5L2.842 (R2 0,957). In general the growth pattern of yellowfin tuna is negative allometric which means that the length increase is faster than the weight. The average relative condition factor of yellowfin tuna is 0.975 with a tendency to decrease along with the increasing of its length. The highest relative condition factor occurred at the length class of 80 cm with 1,061 and the lowest occurred at length 170 cm with 0.918. The monthly relative condition factor generally increased twice in one year from February to June and from July to December.

Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) is one of the important catch for the fishing industry in Indonesia. Length-weight relationship study is one of important tools to support fisheries management. However it could not be done to yellowfin tuna landed in Benoa port since they are in the form of gilled-gutted condition. The objectives of this study are to determine the relationship between gilled-gutted weight (GW) and whole weight (WW), to calculate length weight relationship between fork length (FL) and estimated whole weight (WW) and to assess the relative condition factor (Kn) of yellowfin tuna in Eastern Indian Ocean. Data were collected from three landing sites i.e. Malang, East Java; Benoa, Bali and Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara from January 2013 to February 2014. Linear regression analysis applied to test the significance baseline between weight-weight relationships and log transformed length weight relationship. Relative condition factor (Kn) used to identify fish condition among length groups and months. The results showed a significant positive linear relationships between whole weight (WW) and gilled-gutted weight (GW) of T. albacares (p<0.001). There was a significant positive linier relationships between log transformed fork length and log transformed whole weight of T. albacares (p<0.001). Relative condition factor (Kn) showed declining pattern along with length increase and varied among months. The findings from this study provide data for management of yellowfin tuna stock and population.
