The objects of this study are eight X-Men: First Classcomic books, volume 1 published from September 2006 until April 2007 andX-Men: First Classmovie made in 2011.Texts in the forms of dialogues and visual images taken both from the comic books and the movie are the data which then are analysed qualitatively. Applying intersemiotic translation promoted by Zecca, this study is trying to uncover how social and economic factors influence translation process and whether there are any continuity and changes along the process.             The study focuses on the social and economic aspects involved in the process of transforming X-Men: First Class comic books as the source text, into the movie version as the targeted texts. Some adaptation and changes occurred as the consequence; plot and story lines are twisted, characters involved are replaced for the purpose of meeting the expectation of the targeted market of the movie. Supported by those who were involved in the process and the social issues echoing at the time when the process is happening, the social issues depicted in the texts are also sifted.

The present article examines the potential effects on the translation process of working interactively with a translation memory (TM) system, a tool for storing and sharing previous translations. A TM system automatically divides the source text into sentences presented to the translator one-by-one. Based on observations made in an empirical study of six professional translators and six translation students, it is argued that full sentences do not constitute a central cognitive processing category in translation, and that the sentence-by-sentence presentation inherent in TM systems therefore creates an unnaturally strong focus on the sentence, which affects the very task of translation (as well as the translation product). Particular attention is given to the impact of the use of TM systems on the informants’ revision behaviour and their tendency to change the sentence structure.

United Nations SDG 7 is that, by 2030, there will be an affordable, reliable and clean universal access to energy (UAE). To reach this goal, technological and social issues should be considered jointly. In this paper, the approach used by the Non-Governmental Organization “Luces Nuevas Internacional” is presented. Luces Nuevas has successfully provided basic electricity access to sparse rural communities in rural Bolivia. This paper emphasizes the methodological aspects of the approach. The key ingredient to the success is the involvement of all the stakeholders in all steps of the solution. In this way, end users feel the solution as their solution. Therefore, they are willing to use and properly maintain the devices that they buy to obtain electricity access. The case of the Tipas community shows that this approach can provide access to energy to every family that desires it. The experience shows that reaching SDG 7 requires taking into account not only the technological and economic aspects, but also the social aspects of the problem. End users involvement, from the beginning, of an electrification project is key to its success.

Resumo: Este texto analisa dois filmes produzidos em bitola super-8 como linguagem documental no trabalho do fotógrafo e poeta baiano Euvaldo Macedo Filho, no final dos anos 1970, no Estado da Bahia, Brasil. Inicialmente, trazemos à discussão um recorte de imagens que circulavam à época e que eram usadas na visualização das práticas sociais que estavam transformando os espaços do rio São Francisco, especialmente a navegação. Em seguida, problematizamos a construção de dois artefatos fílmicos a partir da opção tecnológica e da inserção do olhar documental de seu realizador nas questões sociais daquele momento. As imagens em super-8 analisadas compunham um projeto deliberado de memória e de crítica dos eventos, constituindo-se ponto dialético de observação da sociedade.Resumen: En este texto se analizan dos películas producidas en formato super-8, realizadas en la década de 1970 como lenguaje documental por el fotógrafo y poeta brasileño Euvaldo Macedo Filho, nacido en el estado de Bahía. En primer lugar, se discute sobre las imágenes que circulaban en la época y eran usadas en la visualización de las prácticas sociales que estaban transformando los espacios del río San Francisco, especialmente los de navegación. Enseguida, se problematiza sobre la construcción de dos cortometrajes a partir de su práctica tecnológica y se inserta el aspecto documental de su realizador en los asuntos sociales de aquel momento. Las imágenes en super-8 analizadas registran un proyecto deliberado de memoria y de crítica de eventos, constituyéndose en punto dialéctico de observación de la sociedad.Abstract:  This text analyzes two super-8 films, made in the 1970’s by the brazilian photographer and poet Euvaldo Macedo Filho, born in the state of Bahia, as documental language. At first, the discussion focus on the images circulating during that period, which were used on the display of social practices, changing spaces of Sao Francisco river, mainly at navigation. Moreover, the construction of two short movies is problematize through the technology practices of the artist and the insertion of his documental regard at the social issues of its moment. These images were part of an intentional project of memory and social criticism of events, turning themselves into a dialectical point for society observation.

This paper is focused on the analysis of translator’s notes and commentary, represented by meta- and paratexts, as an integral part of translation process. These are essential to help the foreign reader overcome the cultural bias in general, guiding them through its intricate culture-bound elements, and the space and temporal distance separating them from the source text, in particular. Our source text is M. Bulgakov’s satirical novella “A Dog’s Heart” (translated also as “A Heart of a Dog”) written at the very beginning of the Soviet social project. As no piece of satire can be fully grasped - neither in source nor in target language - without making sense of the social conflict described in it, we view comprehension and explanation as the basis for cognition; they constitute two main working procedures of our approach. This means that our attention is focused on the way culture-bound words relating to the facts of social and political life appearing in this tale are conveyed in translations and interpreted in meta- and paratexts. So, author’s in-tention is deemed crucial in text interpretation. And the unity of explanation and understanding is considered to be the basis of academic knowledge To establish what metatext relating to Bulgakov’s story should be like in accordance with an academic approach, we’ve attempted to identify the presuppositions necessary for its adequate perception by the readership. To this end, we have studied the following metatexts: 1) J. Meek’s Introduction to Bromfield’s translation; 2) Bromfield’s A Note on the Text to his own translation (pub. by Penguin Books, 2007); 3) Introduction to M. Glenny’s translation by the Ukrainian writer A. Kurkov (pub. by Vintage Books, 2009); 4) Note by M. P. V. Salgado to the translation by A. Bouis (pub. by KARO, 2020). We also added our brief research-informed notes to some concepts of the novella English versions made by: M. Ginsburg (pub. by New-York Grove Press with no preface provided), Glenny, Bromfield and Bouis. Our major conclusion is that commenting on the translation should become more text-oriented to enhance its academic and didactic quality. More importantly, the paper is to exemplify the kind of methodology that should underlie the research leading to creation of helpful translator’s notes. Pertinent academic notes should help foreign reader to understand his or her bias and to discover the relevant cultural background of the text without which it would seem commonplace and unremarkable.

The article studies representation of the soviet era images in the national comics culture. Paying attention to the popularity and relevance of soviet culture in contemporary mass culture, the authors emphasize the controversial nature of showing the «Soviet past». Analyzing the peculiarities of representation, which is a polysemantic concept and can pursue different goals, the authors focus on the «spectacular» function of representation typical of modern mass culture. The article givess a thorough analysis of national comics in which the representation of the soviet era is most obvious; moreover, the comic strips creators claim it is a deliberate technique. The authors of the article note that the representation of the soviet era can be featured in the plot of a comic book, with references to historical events or historical chronotope of the soviet era. The soviet era can be represented in the system of recognizable characters with possible prototypes in soviet culture. National comic books, addressed to the russian reader, can actualize the visual images of the soviet era. Analyzing various techniques and ways of showing the Soviet era in comics, the authors offer a functional analysis of representation, noting that resorting to the soviet era can serve different purposes and have both positive and negative connotations. The article examines different functions of the soviet era representation connected both with nostalgic trends in society and with ironic perception of the soviet past.

This chapter examines the comic-book adaptations of television series produced by Dell and Gold Key Comics from 1966 to 1973. These comic books often contained diverse casts, especially with African-American characters, yet they are little discussed in relation to racial representations in the medium. The chapter explores these comic books in terms of the visual style used to depict these minority characters and the way the content addresses social issues related to racism and diversity. Finally, it compares the television adaptations to the more popular superhero comics that were also introducing racially diverse casts at the time, and it raises questions about why these comic books are neglected in comics studies.

The retranslation phenomenon is essential to the translation process. It is considered as the logical progression of this process which allows the translated literary work to regenerate in a restless cultural and language space. To a lesser extent, we can observe the same phenomenon in the translation of comics. However, this specific translation requires other competencies and a translating approach somehow different from the ones required to translate fiction literature, especially because of the presence of the visual system of drawings which is strongly bound to its own culture and the endless mutations it goes through. The comic book Watchmen (Les Gardiens, in the first French translation) by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, is known in the whole world as the comic which had not only remodeled the vision we had of super-heroes, but had also given the comic books another voice. Watchmen was published between 1986 and 1987 in the United States and translated in French from 1987 to 1988. Fifteen years after this first translation by Jean-Patrick Manchette, Panini publishing decided to retranslate this famous comic in 2007. However, if the reviews of the first translation were laudatory, the retranslation did not enjoy a great reception from the readers or from the reviewers. This paper proposes a comparative analysis of both these translations and of their original version as well as an experiment on the readers, comic books readers or not, in order to establish why the first translation was a success and the retranslation a failure. Thus, we could withdraw the elements which allow us to understand the reception of comic translation.

The way the religion of Islam has emphasized the human rights, might be any other religion has given importance to this very specific topic. Although in Islam, there has no any chapter making been made in Quran and hadith on the permanent bases on the topic of basic human rights, yet if some search is made to find out these Quran and Sunnah, these are also present in expended form in various places and along with these guided principles are also present there. In Quran there is admonition in many places for the protection of human soul, goods and honor as well. Whereas Hadith along with the other various teachings, specifically on the eve of the last sermon known as ( Khutba hajja tul wida) of the Rasool(PBUH) the prescribed charter of human rights is enough to highlight its importance, but no distinctive laws are cited with a special regarded to  children. Anyhow, in 18th century, issues relevant to children came into view those also became the cause of many movements and all the countries are formulated unanimous laws which are still being applied. In present era, the social issues of the children are becoming obnoxious severe. On the behalf of these issues their growth, training and many other facts of life are also attention catching. In this article, an analysis of Islamic and International laws with respect to children will be made and those causes will also be cited due to which social issues of children are continuously being generated.
