United Nations SDG 7 is that, by 2030, there will be an affordable, reliable and clean universal access to energy (UAE). To reach this goal, technological and social issues should be considered jointly. In this paper, the approach used by the Non-Governmental Organization “Luces Nuevas Internacional” is presented. Luces Nuevas has successfully provided basic electricity access to sparse rural communities in rural Bolivia. This paper emphasizes the methodological aspects of the approach. The key ingredient to the success is the involvement of all the stakeholders in all steps of the solution. In this way, end users feel the solution as their solution. Therefore, they are willing to use and properly maintain the devices that they buy to obtain electricity access. The case of the Tipas community shows that this approach can provide access to energy to every family that desires it. The experience shows that reaching SDG 7 requires taking into account not only the technological and economic aspects, but also the social aspects of the problem. End users involvement, from the beginning, of an electrification project is key to its success.

The objective of this article is to present one of the lineages of human resource management in Poland—industrial sociology. It was within the framework of this subdiscipline that research devoted to the social aspects of industrialization was carried out in the nineteen–sixties and seventies. Studies conducted within the circle of the Cracovian sociologist, Kazimierz Dobrowolski, looked at the industrial centers of Lesser Poland. The primary research question involves the process of the shaping of industrial company personnel in connection with the migration of rural population to industrial centers. The research demonstrated the social and cultural conditions behind this process, not only the impact of the culture of rural communities on shaping work culture in companies, but also the influence of industrial work experience on the life and cultural aspirations of rural communities.

This village has existed since 844 year of caka, during the reign of Queen Sri Urgrasena in Bali. Pakraman Julah Village is precisely located in Tejakula District, Bali. This village has its own uniqueness, from customs, culture and also its architecture such as the pattern of settlements and patterns of the dwelling. This study raises the issue of the extent to which social, economic and cultural aspects affect and is closely related to the formation of settlement patterns and patterns of the dwelling in this Pakraman Julah Village. The pattern of settlement in Pakraman Julah Village is formed because it is based on the concept of "Nyegara Gunung", which is in the customs and philosophy of Balinese society. In the Balinese philosophy "Nyegara Gunung" is that the elements between sea and mountain cannot be separated, and become a unity parallel and mutually supportive of each other. Meanwhile, the pattern of occupancy that existed in the community of Pakraman Julah Village was formed because of the concept of "Rwa Bhineda" ie two elements/ contradictory things such as luan-teben (outside-inside); sacred-profane, upstream-downstream; north-south; positive-negative; etc. The pattern of settlements and pattern of the dwelling that formed in the life of the community of Pakraman Julah Village and other traditional villages in Bali, of course, indirectly influenced by social, economic and cultural aspects of the community. In this research will be studied more deeply about the relationship and reciprocal relationship between the formation of settlement patterns and pattern of the dwelling in this Pakraman Julah Village with the social, economic, and cultural aspects. This study uses a qualitative comparative method that puts forward the deductive approach in the analysis of the discussion. Keywords: pattern of settlement, pattern of dwelling, social aspects, economic aspects, cultural aspects

COVID-19 has become one of the problems that attacks all elements of national and state life. The effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic are not only related to health, but also attack the social aspects and resilience of a country. It is not surprising that the COVID-19 Pandemic can be classified as a non-military threat to a nation. This paper discusses the role of society through attitudes towards State defense such as Following Health Protocols (Keeping Distance, Washing Hands and Wearing Masks) as a Form of State Defense in the Era of COVID-19. This research is a literature review study that discusses social issues using 3 types of approaches, namely the statute approach, conceptual approach, and case approach. The results of this study reveal that we need to adjust to new behaviors in order to be healthier, safer, and more compliant. We need to use all tools available to motivate citizens. The role of the community in breaking the chain of transmission of the disease COVID-19 (risk of contracting and transmission) must be carried out by implementing a number of health protocols. The conclusion of this study is that COVID-19 has become a very big problem for all countries, forcing the security of the state. The objects of this study are eight X-Men: First Classcomic books, volume 1 published from September 2006 until April 2007 andX-Men: First Classmovie made in 2011.Texts in the forms of dialogues and visual images taken both from the comic books and the movie are the data which then are analysed qualitatively. Applying intersemiotic translation promoted by Zecca, this study is trying to uncover how social and economic factors influence translation process and whether there are any continuity and changes along the process. The study focuses on the social and economic aspects involved in the process of transforming X-Men: First Class comic books as the source text, into the movie version as the targeted texts. Some adaptation and changes occurred as the consequence; plot and story lines are twisted, characters involved are replaced for the purpose of meeting the expectation of the targeted market of the movie. Supported by those who were involved in the process and the social issues echoing at the time when the process is happening, the social issues depicted in the texts are also sifted.

Purpose – The author join Orlikowski (2007) in seeking the “reconfiguration of our conventional assumptions and considerations of materiality.” In her sociomaterial approach, Orlikowski combines what is social and what is material into a “sociomaterial assemblage” in considering material and social aspects of technology. However, the author thinks this conflation creates a number of analytical and phenomenological problems for the understanding of technology in organizing. Rather than considering materiality with a primacy, the author argue that the proposed approach may reduce what is material into a social essence and makes materiality of a technology impossible to perceive separate from the social aspects. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – Empirical examples of “Information Search” and “Mobile Communication” in Orlikowski (2007) are further employed to discuss the grounds of the criticism. Findings – The author propose a critical realist perspective to technology both as social and material recursively. Research limitations/implications – The analysis is primarily ontological and meta-theoretical. In future, extensive reviews can be performed on what questions have been asked and what questions have been omitted by researchers employing different versions of sociomaterial perspective. Practical implications – The perspective offered by this paper enables asking new questions and necessary empirical leverage to analyze how one technology becomes materialized and successful in the social realm and not the other. The author also discusses strategic conditions of how one successful technology can be replaced by another. Social implications – Understanding the state of the art in theory in understanding material and social aspects of technology would help us develop novel strategies to contest, complement and adapt to material and social issues of technologies. Originality/value – This paper is among the few critical papers that meta-theoretically question the relatively recent sociomaterial turn in organization studies and information systems fields.

ABSTRACT

Education that took place during the colonial period in practice did not only have to do with economic aspects but also attached to the social aspects inherent in it. The colonial government's mastery pattern, which tends to lead to racial models, also resides in the application of world education policy at that time.
