This paper presents an organizational analysis methodology aimed at knowledge capitalization with a view to improving business processes. Based on a real problem in a large electric sector firm, this methodology is applied to managing the transport of indivisible exceptional cargo (IEC). In the firm in question, intellectual capital is a critical asset for service performance and is fundamental for achieving business excellence. Applied to the firm's transport management process, the approach proved appropriate to IEC transport-related organizational goals. A review highlights definitions and structures for improving business processes proposed previously in the literature. The results of applying the methodology are discussed at the end of the paper.

“India is a very young country”, most of its population lies in the age range between 18-30 years making India one of the youth dominant labor force in the world. With the new age of passion, commitment, creativity, technology and drive among youths, youth manpower is here to stay. In the midst of current trends of globalization and urbanization in India, it is up to the youth intellects to utilize their energy towards business excellence directly influencing the nation’s GDP and growth. Attention of Gen Y job seekers does not prioritize money as their sole job agenda, they also focus on growing as a professional: psychologically, behaviorally and intrinsically. Eupsychian management is a part of theorist Abraham Maslow’s vision to see a time when organizations are managed by self-actualizing people and their zest results in psychologically conducive environments where employees are intrinsically motivated and empowered to achieve organizational goals and make societal contributions. In the current business trend, more and more companies are focusing on employee oriented culture to achieve organizational goals. The present paper aims to elaborate the concept of Eupsychian management and its relevance in Indian business excellence. This concept will be elaborated in two parts: Part I sheds light on the theoretical base and implications. It includes the historical grounds of Maslow’s work on Eupsychian management, assumptions of Eupsychian management policies and its inference on employee psyche and work morale. Part II illuminates applications of Eupsychian management through case studies of Indian companies and its impact on organizational essentials like work ethics, employee engagement, work-life balance, quality of working life, work culture and employee satisfaction. These case studies have been selected on the basis of 2015 survey of employee-friendly organizations by the Economic Times, Business Today and India Times News.

PurposeThis article reports on the background, the conceptual ideas and the lessons learned from over more than 20 years of IC Statements and Management with a country focus on Germany and some international developments. It calls for an integrated management approach for IC and offers case study evidence on how to accomplish this quest.Design/methodology/approachReport on the German initiative “Intellectual Capital Statement made in Germany” (ICS m.i.G.). A brief review of the literature describes the background and theoretical foundation of the German IC method. A short description of the method is followed by four detailed case studies to illustrate long-term impact of IC management in very different organizations. A discussion of Lessons Learned from more than 200 implementations and an outlook on current and future developments finalizes the article.FindingsIC Statements made in Germany (ICS m.i.G.) was successful in providing a framework to systematically identify IC, evaluate the status quo of IC relative to the strategic requirements, visualize interdependencies of IC, business processes and business results as well as to connect IC reporting with internal management routines and external communication. However, ICS is not an insulated method but delivers the maximum benefit when integrated with strategy development, strategy implementation, business process optimization accompanied by change management routines. Strong ties to human resource management, information technology departments, quality management, research and development teams as well as business operations as the core of an organization help to yield the most for ICS m.i.G. Over time, the focus of managing IC changes and maturity leads to deutero learning.Practical implicationsICS m.i.G. proved easy to apply, cost efficient for SMEs, larger corporations and networks. It helps to better accomplish their objectives and to adjust their business models. The guidelines in German and English as well as a software application released were downloaded more than 100,000 times. A certification process based on a three-tier training module is available and was successfully completed by more than 400 practitioners. ICS m.i.G. is supporting current standards of knowledge management, such as ISO 9001, ISO 30401 or DIN SPEC PAS 91443 and therefore will most likely have a continuing impact on knowledge-based value creation.Originality/valueThis paper reports lessons learned from the country-wide IC initiative in Germany over the last 20 years initiated and supported by the authors. Several elements of the method have been published over time, but so far no comprehensive view on Lessons Learned had been published.

The rapidly changing world determines changes in the business processes. Logistics and transport are the areas facing constant changes. Therefore, an important point is to analyse the current problems of logistics and transport within the context of the changing environment. For many years, the experts of the Dept of Logistics and Transport Management of the Faculty of Transport Engineering from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University have been pursuing research both, in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) in Lithuania and foreign countries. This research has been directed toward improvements to logistics and the entire supply chain in pursuit of economic, social and ecological competitiveness, an increase in the competitiveness and attractiveness of the transport system in the context of sustainable development, the impact of this system on the economic and social welfare of society, an increase in the competitiveness and attractiveness of the transport sector of improving the legal framework and the application of innovative technologies (including IT) in the transport sector aimed at implementing economic and social cohesion goals. The article deals with some of the key issues of the above introduced research.

The aim of this chapter is to present the implementation of a fleet management systems (FMS) in selected transport companies. Transport management systems (TMS) / FMS evolve as a result of developing novel functionalities. The greatest challenge is TMS integration within the existing IT infrastructure of the company. Calculating return on investment (ROI) based on data analysis is important to select the optimum FMS. During the implementation of an FMS, of importance is to adapt the system to the business processes and train the employees in software usage. The architecture of an FMS affects the process of its implementation. Its implementation has many benefits and greatly improves company performance, including profitability.

Due to the emergence of the global economy and intensified competition, many modern firms in the industry have recognized the importance of managing their logistics supply chains for fast product introduction and service innovations to the markets since the introduction of the term logistics supply chain management. PurposeNowadays, the aspects of the intellectual capital (IC) management have become important, valuing it as an integral part of the organisation. Researchers emphasise the strategic importance of IC management, particularly in the context of satisfying the stakeholders' interests and value creation. However, the existing studies reflect individual elements of IC management, not analysing them as a system which is a part of the organisational management system, and hence it is impossible to draw valid conclusions on the impact of IC on the organisation's performance. The aim of the paper is to describe an approach to the elaboration of the IC management strategy and its integration into the organisation's management system.Design/methodology/approachThe developed approach is based on a holistic and systemic view of the organisation, where IC management is integrated into the organisation's management . This approach is based on the structure of IC developed by Lentjušenkova and Lapina (2016). In this structure, business processes are the IC component that unites the other three ones – human capital, technologies and intangible assets. The study has used induction and deduction, as well as analytical and synthetic qualitative research methods, including logical constructive and conceptual (concept) analysis.FindingsElaborating the organisational strategy by taking into account the stakeholder interests, the organisation is able to ensure sustainable development. Using the integrated management approach, IC management is integrated into the organisation's activities and joint operational strategy. In this case, IC management becomes an integral part of the organisation's activities functioning in conjunction with the other organisation's systems, and it is integrated into all ongoing business processes.Research limitations/implicationsThe approach the authors have proposed to IC management could be adapted by small and medium-sized companies. Using it, companies do not need to create special functional units or division, because IC becomes an integral part of organisation's processes.Originality/valueIn previous studies, business processes were considered as one of the components of IC. In the study’s approach, business processes imply integration of IC into the overall organisation management system. As a framework for the proposed approach, the authors have used the Deming cycle “Plan-Do-Check-Act” that envisages dividing the development and implementation of the IC management and development strategy into four phases, with a clear allocation of tasks and a defined outcome for each individual phase. To use this approach, it is enough for organisations to conduct an analysis of processes and, depending on the strategic goals of the organisation, make additions related to managing IC.

Aim/Purpose: The objective of this study was to assess the interrelationships among knowledge management infrastructure, knowledge management process, intellectual capital, and organization performance. Background: Although knowledge management capability is extensively used by organizations, reaching their maximum financial and non-financial performances has not been fully researched. Therefore, organizations need to optimize their performance by exploiting knowledge management capability through the accumulation of intellectual capital, where the new competitiveness is shifting from tangible to intangible resources. Methodology: This study adopted a positivist philosophy and deductive approach to accomplish the main goal of this research. Moreover, this research employed a quantitative approach since this study is concerned with causal relationship between variables. A questionnaire-based survey was designed to evaluate the research model using a convenience sample of 134 employees from the food industry sector in Jordan. Surveyed data was examined following the structural equation modeling procedures. Contribution: This study highlighted the potential benefits of applying the knowledge management capabilities, intellectual capital, and organizational performance to the food industrial sector in Jordan. Future research suggestions are also provided. Findings: Results indicated that knowledge management infrastructure had a positive effect on knowledge management process. In addition, knowledge management process impacted positively intellectual capital and organization performance and mediated the relationship between knowledge management infrastructure and intellectual capital. However, knowledge management infrastructure did not positively associate to organization performance. Recommendations for Practitioners: The current model is designed to help managers and decision makers to improve their management capabilities as well as their organization financial and non-financial performance through exploiting the organizational knowledge management infrastructure and intellectual capital approaches. Recommendation for Researchers: Our findings can be used as a base of knowledge to conduct further studies about knowledge management capabilities, intellectual capital, and organization performance following different criteria and research procedures. Impact on Society: The designed model highlights a significant organizational performance approach that can influence Jordanian food industrial sector positively. Future Research: The current designed research model can be applied and assessed further in other sectors including banking and industrial sectors across developed and developing countries. Also, we suggest that in addition to focusing on knowledge management process and intellectual capital as mediating variables, future research could test our findings in a longitudinal study and examine how to affect financial and non-financial performance.

Abstract. Today, one of the most discussed topics in the field of information technology is distributed registry systems. They attract investors and developers with their functionality. Distributed ledger systems are being introduced into business processes in many areas of human activity, which makes their contribution to development irreplaceable. One of the most vulnerable parts of such systems is the process of managing cryptographic keys, an attack on which can destroy the entire security of the distributed registry system. The aim of the research is to identify possible threats to the process of managing cryptographic keys, on the basis of which recommendations and standards for managing cryptographic keys in distributed ledger systems will be developed. Research methods: to achieve this goal, the structure of the life cycle of cryptographic keys was considered, an analysis of possible vulnerabilities in the process of managing cryptographic keys at each stage of the life cycle of a cryptographic key was carried out. In addition, the distributed ledger system was analyzed in the context of the identified vulnerabilities of the key management process using the example of the IBM blockchain and the possibility of outsourcing cryptographic key management systems was considered. Result: a set of possible threats to the process of managing cryptographic keys was proposed, the necessity of assessing the security of the key management system before deciding on the introduction of these systems into distributed registries was proposed, conclusions were drawn about the need to develop recommendations and standards for the process of managing cryptographic keys for such systems, as well as the possibility applicability of the recommendations for assessing the security of the implementation of outsourcing of cryptographic key management systems in distributed ledgers.

This study is conducted to carry out the risk management process in the logistics department of the electricity company unit, which has the main duties in managing electricity transmission assets, controlling investment and logistics transmission, and maintaining transmission assets. The risk management process in this study was prepared as a step in shaping the risk profile of business processes in the logistics field to avoid the failure of business processes that resulted in unavailbility of logistics material, which could impact the electricity transmission. This study uses the AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management Standard framework. Calculation of risk priorities is using Analytical Hierarchy Process, based on a questionnaire to experts in the field of company logistics. From the calculation using AHP, Work Accident (HR2) has been identified as the most vulnerable risk among others risk factors.
