Given the growing importance of integrating marketing and operations indicators to enhance business performance, and the availability of sophisticated geospatial statistical techniques, this paper draws on these concepts to develop an indicator of propensity to energy commercial losses. Loss management is a strategic topic among energy distribution companies, in particular for AES Eletropaulo. In such context, this work's objectives are: (i) to appropriate spatial auto-regressive models and geographically weighted regression (GWR) in measuring the cultural influence of neighborhood in customer behavior in the energy fraud act; (ii) to replace slum coverage areas by a regional social vulnerability index; and (iii) to associate energy loss with customer satisfaction indicators, in a spatial-temporal approach. Spatial regression techniques are revised, followed by a discussion on social vulnerability and customer satisfaction indicators. Operational data obtained from AES Eletropaulo's geographical information systems were combined with secondary data in order to generate predictive regression models, having energy loss as the response variable. Results show that the incorporation of market and social oriented data about customers substantially contribute to explicate energy loss - the coefficient of determination in the regression models rose from 17.76% to 63.29% when the simpler model was compared to the more complex one. Suggestions are made for future work and opportunities for the replication of the methodology in comparable contexts are discussed.

It has become necessary to estimate the quantities of runoff by knowing the amount of rainfall to calculate the required quantities of water storage in reservoirs and to determine the likelihood of flooding. The present study deals with the development of a hydrological model named Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC-HMS), which uses Digital Elevation Models (DEM). This hydrological model was used by means of the Geospatial Hydrologic Modeling Extension (HEC-GeoHMS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to identify the discharge of the Al-Adhaim River catchment and embankment dam in Iraq by simulated rainfall-runoff processes. The meteorological models were developed within the HEC-HMS from the recorded daily rainfall data for the hydrological years 2015 to 2018. The control specifications were defined for the specified period and one day time step. The Soil Conservation Service-Curve number (SCS-CN), SCS Unit Hydrograph and Muskingum methods were used for loss, transformation and routing calculations, respectively. The model was simulated for two years for calibration and one year for verification of the daily rainfall values. The results showed that both observed and simulated hydrographs were highly correlated. The model’s performance was evaluated by using a coefficient of determination of 90% for calibration and verification. The dam’s discharge for the considered period was successfully simulated but slightly overestimated. The results indicated that the model is suitable for hydrological simulations in the Al-Adhaim river catchment.

Geographical information systems (GIS) can be effective decision-support tools. In this paper, we detail a GIS approach implemented by the Bauchi and Sokoto state primary healthcare development agencies in Nigeria to generate and convert routine immunisation (RI) paper maps to digital maps for microplanning. The process involved three stages: primary and secondary data collection and reconciliation, geospatial data processing and analysis, and production and validation of maps. The data collection and reconciliation stage identified a number of challenges with secondary data sources, including the need to standardise and reconcile health facility and settlement names. The study team was unable to apply population estimates generated from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative to RI planning because operational boundaries for polio activities are defined differently from RI activities. Application of open-source GIS software enabled the combination of multiple datasets and analysis of geospatial data to calculate catchment areas for primary health centres (PHCs) and assign vaccination strategies to communities. The activity resulted in the development of PHC catchment area digital maps, and captured next steps and lessons learnt for RI microplanning in the two states. While the digital maps provided input into the microplanning process, more work is needed to build capacity, standardise processes and ensure the quality of data used to generate the maps. RI service providers and communities must be engaged in the process to validate, understand the data, the contextual factors that influence decisions about which vaccination strategies RI microplans include and how resources are allocated.

In recent times, disasters and risk management have gained significant attention, especially with increasing awareness of the risks and increasing impact of natural and other hazards especially in the developing world. Vulnerability, the potential for loss of life or property from disaster, has biophysical or social dimensions. Social vulnerability relates to societal attributes which has negative impacts on disaster outcomes. This study sought to develop a spatially explicit index of social vulnerability, thus addressing the dearth of research in this area in sub-Saharan Africa. Nineteen variables were identified covering various aspects. Descriptive analysis of these variables revealed high heterogeneity across the South West region of Nigeria for both the state and the local government areas (LGAs). Feature identification using correlation analysis identified six important variables. Factor analysis identified two dimensions, namely accessibility and socioeconomic conditions, from this subset. A social vulnerability index (SoVI) showed that Ondo and Ekiti have more vulnerable LGAs than other states in the region. About 50% of the LGAs in Osun and Ogun have a relatively low social vulnerability. Distribution of the SoVI shows that there are great differences within states as well as across regions. Scores of population density, disability and poverty have a high margin of error in relation to mean state scores. The study showed that with a geographical information system there are opportunities to model social vulnerability and monitor its evolution and dynamics across the continent.

Studies in genetics and breeding of sheep in Brazil have increased significantly in recent years. These involve research in characterization, breeding and crossing sheep using new technologies available incorporating both classical quantitative and molecular genetics. Improvements in statistical techniques, computational resources as well as analysis of DNA and gaps in present knowledge and opportunities for possible research are pointed out. There is a need for greater interaction between various groups working in the country as well as interactions with other disciplines such as Geographical Information Systems, Statistics, Bioinformatics, as well as biological studies such as physiology and proteomics.

The object of this research was conducted at PT. Salim Jaya Medan, a company that is active as a distributor of frozen food, especially for raw materials for seafood and local and imported meat. In this company, the number of customers is decreasing from time to time. This is thought to be due to sales promotion factors, product quality and customer satisfaction. The research method used by researchers is quantitative, the type of research is descriptive. Primary and secondary data were used. The data collection technique is done by interview, questionnaire and documentation study. The data analysis used was multiple linear regressions, the coefficient of determination of simultaneous testing (F-test), and partial testing (t-test). The study population was 109 customers of PT. Salim Jaya Medan where 30 people were used as validity testing while the research sample was 86 people. The partial test results show that sales promotion, product quality and customer satisfaction have a positive effect on customer loyalty, while simultaneously it shows that sales promotion and customer satisfaction have a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty.

One example of a franchise that has increased in a number of outlets is fast-food restaurants or often called fast food. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of price and product quality on customer satisfaction on Giant Fried Chicken Citra Raya. The research method uses quantitative with a population of 22,577 customers, the determination of the sample using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 10% obtained 100 respondents. Data collection methods using primary data and secondary data. Test the instrument using the validity and reliability test, the prerequisite data test uses the normality test, autocorrelation test, multicollinearity test, and heteroscedasticity test, while the statistical test uses multiple regression equations, correlation coefficient test, coefficient of determination test and significance test. The results show that the price and quality of the product have a positive effect on consumer satisfaction with a regression equation Y = 19.846 + 0.329X1 + 0.312X2 + e. The better the price determination and the higher the quality of the product, the more it will increase customer satisfaction. Vice versa, if the price and quality of products are low, customer satisfaction will also decrease. The simultaneous contribution of price and product quality is 40.8% while the remaining 59.2% is influenced by other factors. the calculated F value is greater than the F table or (9669> 3.090), it is also reinforced by the significance of 0,000 <0.05. Thus H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This means that there is a positive and significant effect simultaneously between price and product quality on customer satisfaction on Giant Fried Chicken Citra Raya.
