Relational aspects of regional economic support and cluster policy. The recent debate about the application and interpretation of cluster concepts is characterized by increasing skepticism. The literature has particularly criticized the fact that policy formulation is often only vaguely related to the academic discussion and evidence regarding clusters. Part of this confusion can be traced back to the fuzziness of the original cluster concept developed by Michael Porter which claims to be applicable to the competitiveness of both national industry bundles and inter-linked regional industry networks. As a consequence, policies which are declared as cluster policies can be quite heterogeneous. In this paper, we argue for a closer link between cluster conception and cluster policy. It is shown that an understanding of clusters as multidimensional industry configurations is advantageous in developing and advancing a relational cluster policy. A multidimensional cluster approach, which highlights the role of agency in economic interaction, focuses on the action space of cluster agents, and goes beyond the regional and national scale. It avoids simplifications and deterministic interpretations that can result from using aggregated data or from treating regions as if they were agents. Instead, the approach recognizes that external relations of cluster actors are core in understanding and explaining the success of clusters. We will emphasize this by laying out elements of a relational cluster policy.

Subject Role of philanthropy in India. Significance India has seen a surge in philanthropic activity in response to COVID-19. Late last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a special fund to support people requiring medical relief or experiencing hardship because of the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of the disease. Impacts Individuals making large donations to COVID-19 relief efforts will aim to ensure their generosity receives maximum publicity. Companies hit financially by the shuttering of the economy could struggle to discharge corporate social responsibility. The central government faces pressure to offer more economic support to low-income people who have struggled through the COVID-19 lockdown.

This article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of measures to support the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic in the People's Republic of China. A network description of economic and social support measures in China and other countries was made, and the relative amounts of support as a percentage of the gross domestic product produced were disclosed. The structure of economic support measures is analyzed. It was found that the relative size of the economy's aid does not affect the growth of the real gross product. On the example of China, the effectiveness of administrative actions to localize the pandemic and support the economy is revealed, while the role of educating the appropriate civil initiative is noted. During a pandemic, the key factor in the subsequent recovery of the economy is not the amount of cash injections and benefits provided, but the discipline and responsibility of the authorities and society.

The high failure rate of new small enterprises in Angola calls to attention the fact that they are not equipped enough to meet the challenges of sustainable economic growth, equitable distribution of wealth and job creation. The worrying impact on the Angolan landscape, as a consequence, has had economists scrambling for solutions in recent years. Moving from on the assumption that the current business climate has been a contributing factor, this paper attempts to examine the role of external environmental factors in the context of Angola. Adopting a quantitative approach, the questionnaire was utilized as the primary data collection tool with snowballing as the sampling technique. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software delivered a result to the quantitative data that indicate a severe lack of economic support and availability of fundamental business resources such as raw material, skilled people and finance, and rigid policy-making regulations. The doomed-to-fail death knell to the Angolan small business comes in the form of a high level of corruption and theft in the country

In the last three decades, Singapore has transformed from a cultural desert to a global arts city, thanks significantly to tourism. The Singapore Tourism Board was proactively shaping the cultural dynamics and policy of Singapore until 2012. But since then its official role in the country's arts and cultural development almost disappeared. The disappearance of tourism interests in cultural development stems apparently from years of resistance, dialogues, and negotiation. This study argues that the tourism authorities are still maintaining influence in the cultural dynamics and development of Singapore by reframing its involvement. It insidiously asserts its influence by enticing members of the arts community with resources, opportunities, and economic support to participate in the tourism industry. This article provides a dialogical understanding of how tourism has shaped Singapore's cultural dynamics. Cultural dynamics and tourism development in Singapore must be understood within economic and social engineering perimeters defined by the government. The tourism authorities do not only work with other government authorities, they use similar techniques in managing and controlling cultural development in the city-state. The Bakhtinian Dialogic Imagination is the heuristic that organizes and structures the complex and dynamic tourism–culture relations in this study. Three dialogical concepts—carnivalesque, heteroglossia, and polyphony—are used. Besides documenting the ongoing evolution of tourism in the cultural development of Singapore, this study questions the effectiveness of the arm's length approach to managing cultural development. The Singapore case shows that there are subtle economic and political ways to go round that principle.

The purpose of this study was to explore how parents of children with neuromotor disorders in the department of Chuquisaca (Bolivia) perceive attendance to a physical therapy stimulation program and the expectations they place on the therapy and professional care provided to their children. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the parents, related to their role in supporting the recommended exercise program for the child, generating topics such as benefits of the therapy for the child, impact on the family, and role of the project in terms of therapy and the physical therapists providing treatment, including both positive and negative aspects of the overall process. This study revealed the importance of understanding the feelings of families receiving intervention under a pioneering program in Bolivia for the detection and treatment of children with neuromotor disorders. Being able to access these types of services provides them with extensive personal, social, and economic support. Knowing their concerns, desires, and demands will allow us to continue to improve and offer the best care for children and families. The professionals involved should also be encouraged to develop effective teaching techniques to promote the inclusion of parents in the stimulation program.

Abstract Based on four years of ethnographic observations, interviews, and full participation, this research elucidates the emotional dynamics and consequences of feral cat caregiving across a variety of interactional settings. Such caregiving is often conducted in the context of a lack of understanding from otherwise sympathetic friends and relatives and opposition and stigmatization from others who are unsympathetic to the work. We find that the ability of caregivers to take the role of the nonhuman other facilitates genuine empathic concern, which allows caregivers to provide relatively successful and ongoing care. Unfortunately, the combination of emotional stress and compassion fatigue, combined with frequent setbacks and a substantial dearth of organizational and economic support of caregivers’ efforts, often leads to disillusionment, cynicism, and burnout. In addition to elucidating the social and emotional problems of our respondents, we also offer a conceptual and theoretical framework to guide further research on this and related topics.

Abstract This study investigated the association between intergenerational transfer and self-rated health (SRH) using data collected from 323 older Chinese immigrants in Honolulu and 752 Chinese older adults in Wuhan. We also explored the mediating role of resilience and the moderating role of gender in linking the associations. Findings show, for both study sites, receiving greater emotional support was associated with increased levels of SRH and this association was partially explained by resilience for females but not for males. For country differences, receiving economic support was negatively associated with SRH whereas providing economic support was positively associated with SRH for males but not for females in Honolulu. In Wuhan, receiving housework support was negatively associated with SRH for females but not for males. These findings indicate that future studies need to consider country differences as well as the impact of acculturation when examining intergenerational transfers and health among Chinese older adults.

In addition, the practical procedure of dem adraqi elder in healing wounds and blood feuds are painstaking since it is important to avoid conflicts between parties for last without any retaliation after reaching agreements through erigiman (cursing the retaliator). In general, the work of dem adraqi elders depends on the interest and will of disputant parties.
