Several previous research studies stated that parents have a big role in implementing learning during a global pandemic, which is well-known with COVID-19. This research aims to review the role and strategies of parents in assisting children to learn during the pandemic. The research method is a literature study by selecting various articles of research results according to the research study. The results of the study indicate that effective learning can be done by recognizing children's learning styles, creating a positive environment, creating various learning methods with teacher coordination. In addition to parents, the government and teachers also have a stake in the success of practical learning in achieving learning goals: online learning through instructional videos, assignments tailored to learning conditions at home, and preparing learning tools to be carried out at home. These findings provide valuable insights for parents to be alert and more creative in creating effective learning.

This paper presents the implementation of Project Based Learning for diploma First year Mechanical Engineering students for Engineering Graphics course. Engineering Graphics course is an important basic communication tool of engineers. The concepts of graphical language are used in expressing the ideas, conveying the instructions, which are used in carrying out the jobs on the sites, shop floor. It is expected that the students should develop the idea of visualizing the actual object or part on the basis of drawings and blue prints. Traditional learning styles in classroom education are questionable and lacking in providing the necessary tools needed by the students to meet ever growing demands of industries. This paper aims to demonstrate improved student learning outcomes and increased student participation using active learning tools. The performance of the students of two consecutive batches is compared where for one batch this technique is not used and for other the technique is implemented. This consideration concludes that project-based learning is the best way to fulfil industry needs and it will facilitate students to innovatively and creatively transfer their knowledge to the real world situation.

FEATURE AT A GLANCE: Today's organizations exist in an ever-changing, global, knowledge-based environment. As such, they expect employees to rapidly gain new knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to ensure the organization's viability. Blended learning, which evolved from e-learning, has been offered as one means to support employee development and organizational viability. A review of the literature makes it clear that most guidance offered to practitioners has focused on the “bells and whistles” of the technology rather than the pedagogical value of blended learning. We offer 10 research-based guidelines to aid in the development of blended learning courses that are theoretically sound, engage trainees, and lead to effective learning outcomes.

While advocates of learning styles have suggested postsecondary educators and learning support programs match instruction to students’ learning styles to enhance learning, past decades of research criticize educator’s co-option of and disprove researchers’ efforts to prove learning styles’ existence and worth as a valid construct. The author examines numerous research articles that have challenged the efficacy of learning styles based on empirically provable evidence. The author also cites how the learning styles paradigm continues to be used in the field of postsecondary learning assistance. The author concludes that instead of promoting learning styles, educators should instruct learners on the intentional use of learning strategies.

AbstractThe study reported in this paper is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of a knowledge-based expert system (ICTERUS) in diagnosing jaundiced patients, compared with a statistical system based on probabilistic concepts (TRIAL). The performances of both systems have been evaluated using the same set of data in the same number of patients. Both systems are spin-off products of the European project Euricterus, an EC-COMACBME Project designed to document the occurrence and diagnostic value of clinical findings in the clinical presentation of jaundice in Europe, and have been developed as decision-making tools for the identification of the cause of jaundice based only on clinical information and routine investigations. Two groups of jaundiced patients were studied, including 500 (retrospective sample) and 100 (prospective sample) subjects, respectively. All patients were independently submitted to both decision-support tools. The input of both systems was the data set agreed within the Euricterus Project. The performances of both systems were evaluated with respect to the reference diagnoses provided by experts on the basis of the full clinical documentation. Results indicate that both systems are clinically reliable, although the diagnostic prediction provided by the knowledge-based approach is slightly better.
