Abstrak  :  Parental  Involvement  in  Improving  Reading  AbilityThe  aim  of  this research is to know the parental involvement in improving the children abilityin Cikole regency  of  Sukabumi.  The  reseach  method  used  is  descriptive  survey  by communicative approach. The population of the reseach are the parents whose children are  studying  in  group  B  of  the  kindergarden  in  Cikole  regency  of  Sukabumi,  the technique of this sample is simple random sampling. Beside that collecting data is as an instrument. The result of this reseach show that the parental imvolment in this region is middle.  1).  The  paarental  involvement  position  in  children  ability,  2)  the  parental involvement  reseach  in  improving  reading  ability,  3)  the  parents  support  to  improve their  children  reading  ability,  and  4)  the  parental  involvement  obstacle  in  improving reading  ability.  The  recommendations  are  parents  should  more  active  and  focus  in improving  their  reading  interest.  The  teachers  should  collaborate  with  the  parents  for the next researcher should be able to do the reseach with the different method.  Abstrak :  keterlibatan  orang  tua  dalam  mengembangkan  kemampuan  membaca pada anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran keterlibatan orang dalam mengembangkan kemampuan membaca pada anak usia dini di Kecamatan Cikole  Kota  Sukabumi.  Metode  penelitian  yang  digunakan  adalah  survey  deskriptif dengan  menggunakan  pendekatan  kuantitatif.  Populasi  penelitian  ini  adalah  orang  tua yang  menyekolahkan  anak  di  taman  kanak-kanak  kelompok  B  se-Kecamatan  Cikole Kota  Sukabumi  dengan  jumlah  sampel  234  orang  tua.  Teknik  pengambilan  sampel dilakukan  dengan  menggunakan  teknik  Simple  Random  Sampling.  Istrumen  yang digunakan  dalam  pengumpulan  data  berupa  kuesioner  keterlibatan  orang  tua  yang dikembangkan  sendiri  oleh  peneliti.  Hasil  penelitian  menunjukan  bahwa  keterlibatan orang  tua  di  kecamatan  Cikole  kota  Sukabumi  dalam  mengembangkan  kemampuan membaca pada anak usia dini sebagian besar berada pada kategori sedang dilihat dari segi  1)  Posisi  keterlibatan  orang  tua  dalam  mengembangkan  kemampuan  membaca anak usia dini, 2) Alasan terkait kemampuan orang tua terlibat dalam mengembangkan kemampuan membaca anak usia dini, 3) Bentuk usaha yang dilakukan orang tua dalam mengembangkan kemampuan membaca anak usia dini, dan 4) Hambatan yang dihadapi orang  tua  dalam  mengembangkan  kemampuan  membaca  anak.  Rekomendasi  bagi orang  tua  hendaknya  lebih  aktif  dan  fokus  dalam  mengembangkan  kemampuan membaca  pada  anak.  Bagi  guru  PAUD  diharapkan  dapat  berkolaborasi  dengan  orang tua dalam mengembangkan kemampuan membaca pada anak. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya yang  meneliti  dengan  topik  yang  sama,  dapat  melakukan  penelitian  menggunakan metode yang berbeda.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara minat baca dengan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian survei. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas III SDN Tanah Tinggi 1 Kota Tangerang dengan populasi sebanyak 58 siswa dan sampel sebanyak 48 siswa dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Simple Random Sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket dan essay. Instrumen pengumpulan data untuk minat baca (variabel X) menggunakan angket Skala Likert dengan pilihan jawaban 1-4 dan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita (variabel Y) menggunakan essay. Untuk pengujian hipotesis dilakukan melalui perhitungan kefisien korelasi dengan rumus Uji t. Berdasarkan rumus korelasi Product Moment dengan α = 0,05 diperoleh thit 4,290 lebih besar dari ttab = 2,013 bahwa thit> ttab dan hipotesis diterima. Hal ini dapat diartikan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara minat baca dengan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika kelas III SDN Tanah Tinggi 1 Kota Tangerang. This research uses quantitative research methods with the type of survey research. The population in this study were all students of class III SDN Tanah Tinggi 1 Tangerang City with a population of 58 students and a sample of 48 students with a sampling technique using Simple Random Sampling. The research instruments used were questionnaires and essays. Data collection instruments for reading interest (variable X) using a Likert Scale questionnaire with answer choices 1-4 and the ability to solve story problems (variable Y) using essays. To test the hypothesis, it is done by calculating the correlation efficiency with the t test formula. Based on the Product Moment correlation formula with α = 0.05 obtained thit 4.290 is greater than ttab = 2.013 that thit> ttab and the hypothesis is accepted. This can be interpreted that there is a relationship between reading interest and the ability to solve math problem class III SDN Tanah Tinggi 1 Tangerang City. Goal setting is an incredible strategy or instrument for assisting understudies with giving a strong establishment to upgrading their presentation. On the off chance that teenagers/understudies can set very much characterized objectives, they can gauge and invest wholeheartedly in the accomplishment of those objectives. The main undertaking before an educator or instructor or parent is to help the understudies in defining transient objectives and long haul objectives. Objective setting gives self-assurance and inspiration to the understudy which is a fundamental key to improve or raise execution. Goal setting is a psychological cycle that includes setting up of explicit destinations, estimations and methodology to accomplish the objective, which likewise remembers the technique alteration for terms of the input or blunder made. The main objective of the study was to examine goal setting among adolescents in relation to parental involvement. To accomplish the objective, Goal Setting Scale developed by the investigator and Parental Involvement Scale by Dr. Sangeeta Tramma, 1998 were adopted. Matrials and metods: The descriptive survey method was employed for the present investigation. The sample consists of 464 adolescents studied in CBSE affiliated schools of Ludhiana district of Punjab. Data has been collected from students of 9th and 10th class whose parents are graduates or undergraduates. The sample was further categorized into male and female students. Sample has been drawn by employing simple random sampling technique, Stratified random sampling technique, purposive sampling technique and systematic random sampling technique. Results: Findings of the study reveal significant relationship between goal setting among adolescents and dimensions of parental involvement; significant relationship between goal setting among male adolescents and dimensions of parental involvement and significant relationship between goal setting among female adolescents and dimensions of parental involvement. Conclusion: The study has practical implications for students to set goals before doing any educational and vocational tasks or activities; study also has practical implications for parents to provide such environment that will help their child in setting goals and it will also helpful for teachers and educational administrators in organizing such activities and programmes that ensures parent’s involvement in their child’s goal setting.

The purpose of this study was to establish the effect of pupils’ family backgrounds on their transition rates from public primary schools to secondary schools in Kenya’s Soin/Sigowet Sub-County. The study adopted mixed methods approach and the research design employed was descriptive survey. It targeted a population of 76 headteachers and 715 teachers from which a sample of 63 headteachers and 250 teachers was used. Clustered random sampling was used to obtain the 63 schools from their zones, simple random sampling to select teachers and purposive sampling on headteachers. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data from teachers and interview schedule from headteachers. The two instruments were validated, piloted and a reliable 0.75 Cronbach’s coefficient alpha applied. Quantitative data was analysed and presented in frequencies and percentages, while qualitative data was described alongside the quantitative data. The key findings of this study were: educated parents provided moral and material support to their children, occupation of parents determined their financial ability to educate their children and parental involvement played a crucial role in the performance and progress of their children in education. The study revealed that family challenges which included homelessness, hunger, domestic violence and drug abuse affected the transition of pupils from public primary to secondary schools. The study recommended that education stakeholders in the Sub-County should sensitize parents on the importance of ensuring children proceed from one level of education to another. On further research, the study recommended that the research needed to be replicated in other parts of the country by varying its approach.

The present study aimed to investigate the attitude of prospective teachers towards inclusive education in relation to gender and academic stream. The respondents were teacher trainees of district Mohali of Punjab. A sample of 100 B.Ed students (N=50 boys and 50 girls) by employing simple random sampling. Descriptive survey method was employed; attitude towards inclusive education scale was used, Analysis of Variance and for the significant F- ratio, the t-test was used for testing the significance of difference between the mean scores different groups on variables under study. The study revealed that (a) There exists significant differences in attitude of prospective teachers towards the concept of inclusive education for children with disabilities with respect to gender (b) There exists no significant differences in attitude of prospective teachers towards the concept of inclusive education for children with disabilities with respect to academic stream and (c) There exists no significant differences in attitude of prospective teachers towards the concept of inclusive education for children with disabilities with respect to interaction effect of academic stream and gender.

The study focused on users satisfaction with library services at the Delta State University main Library, Abraka, Delta State. The objective was to find out if users are satisfied with the services, facilities, the library environment, information sources and staff of the library. Using the descriptive survey design the population for the study consisted of all registered library users in the Site II of the Delta State University, Abraka Campus. The study employed the simple random sampling techniques in selecting the sample size for the study, and with a questionnaire data were collected. The findings revealed that the services offered at the Delta State University are inadequate and below average. Most users were satisfied with the availability of information sources in the library but also registered that most of these information sources are not available for loan. The findings also showed that there is a significant relationship between the assessment of library collection by users and their satisfaction with information sources. The library environment is clean and the reading carrels are adequate but, there are no effective lightening and toilet facilities.

This study aims to determine and describe students’ reading ability and drafting skills on technical drawing, and the students’ complaints of school factors, which affect the learning process on engineering drawing subject in grade XI of Machining study program. This is a descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The population in this research were 112 students. The samples of 91 students were chosen using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected by means of tests and questionnaire. Data were then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The result shows that students’ reading ability of engineering drawing is in the category of “high” with percentages of completion from the “comply with the drawing standard” indicator is 91.21% and “correctness” indicator is 40%.  Students’ drafting skills is in the category of “high” with percentages of completion from the indicators of “comply with the drawing standard” is 79.12%, “clear and easy to understand” is 63%, “drafting speed” is 87%, and “cleanliness” is 89%. The most complained in terms of school factors on the subject of engineering drawing are student-teacher relationship, classroom equipment, building condition, and homework.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam membaca gambar, mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam membuat gambar kerja, dan keluhan siswa ditinjau dari faktor sekolah yang mempengaruhi belajar mengajar siswa pada mata pelajaran gambar teknik kelas XI Teknik Pemesinan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 112 orang. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 91 siswa ditentukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan tes dan angket. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam membaca gambar berada pada kategori tinggi dengan presentase keberhasilan indikator tiap evaluasi pada standar sebesar 91.21% dan betul sebesar 40%, kemampuan siswa dalam membuat gambar berada pada kategori tinggi dengan presentase keberhasilan indikator tiap evaluasi pada standar sebesar 79.12%, jelas dan mudah dipahami sebesar 63%, kecepatan sebesar 87%, dan kebersihan sebesar 89%, dan keluhan siswa pada mata pelajaran gambar teknik ditinjau dari faktor sekolah yang cukup dikeluhkan adalah relasi guru dengan siswa, alat pelajaran, keadaan gedung, dan tugas rumah.

Abstract The reading habits of the class V A and V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung are relatively moderate. While the reading ability of students in class V A and V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung is still relatively low. This is due to the process of learning a monotonous reading. This research aims to find out the correlation between reading habits and the ability to read the understanding of students of the V class MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung. This type of research is quantitative research with correlational design. This research was conducted in MI Ismaria al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung, August to September 2017. The total research population of the V grade students at MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung amounted to 154 students. Sample research of 70 students determined by using simple random sampling technique. The instrument consisted of a questionnaire and a test. Questionnaire is used to measure reading habits. The test is used to measure reading comprehension skills. Data analysis techniques using simple correlation analysis techniques. Based on the calculation of the coefficient with a significant status of 5% with rhitung > rtabel atau 0,593 > 0,240, thus Ha is acceptable. These results showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between reading habits with the ability reading comprehension of 0,593 and effective contribution of 35,2%   Keywords: Reading habits, The ability reading comprehension.   Abstrak Kebiasaan membaca pada siswa kelas V A dan V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung terbilang sedang. Sedangkan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas V A dan V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung masih terbilang rendah.  Hal ini disebabkan karena adanya proses pembelajaran membaca yang monoton. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara kebiasaan membaca dan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung, bulan Agustus sampai dengan September 2017. Populasi penelitian seluruh siswa kelas V MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung berjumlah 154 siswa. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 70 siswa yang ditentukan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen terdiri dari angket dan tes. Angket digunakan untuk mengukur kebiasaan membaca. Tes digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan membaca pemahaman. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis korelasi sederhana. Berdasarkan perhitungan koefisien dengan taraf signifikan 5% dengan rhitung > rtabel atau 0,593 > 0,240, dengan demikian Ha diterima. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang positif dan signifikan antara kebiasaan membaca dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman sebesar 0,593 dan sumbangan efektifnya sebesar 35,2%.   Kata Kunci : Kebiasaan Membaca, Kemampuan Membaca Pemahaman.

Background: Evaluation of the result of early and delayed repair of anterior and distal penile hypospadias. A total number of 144 patients of anterior and distal penile hypospadias with/without chordee were evaluated by follow up study in our hospital and private hospital from January 2010 to July 2013. Redo cases, complex hypospadias and proximal hypospadias were excluded. Simple Random sampling technique was followed to the patients were grouped into Group-A (72 patients) and Group-B(72 patients) on the basis of age of the patients. Both Group-A, age between 6 to 18 months and Group-B, more than 18 month to 14 years were operated by Snodgrass procedure. We did follow up 12- 24 months postoperatvely. It can be recommended for repair of anterior and distal penile hypospadias within 6 to 18 months whenever the question of post urethroplasty cosmosis, wound disruption and formation of urethra cutaneous fistula.J Shaheed Suhrawardy Med Coll, December 2015, Vol.7(2); 69-72

<p>Abstract: The research aims to show that 1) there are any effects of reading interest and vocabulary mastery jointly towards students' reading comprehension, 2) there is a significant effect of reading interest towards students' reading comprehension, 3) there is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery towards students' reading comprehension. The research method is a survey with a simple random sampling for 61 students using a questionnaire used for data collection. The research results show that; 1) There are significant effects of reading interest and vocabulary mastery on students' reading comprehension. It is proved by the score of Sig 0,000 &lt; 0,05 and F0 = 63,019. 2) There is a significant effect of reading interest on student's reading comprehension. It is proved by the score of Sig 0,011 &lt; 0,05 and to = 2,614. 3) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery on student's reading comprehension. It is proven by the score of Sig 0,000 &lt; 0,05 and to = 6,148.<br />Keywords: reading interest, vocabulary mastery, reading comprehension</p>

The chapter investigated the facilities available, extent of usage, and the various methods, perspectives, and strategies of blended learning used as well as possible challenges in Nigeria higher education using Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife as a case study. The descriptive survey research design was adopted. An instrument titled “Questionnaire on Opportunities and Implementation of Blended Learning” was administered on 216 lecturers selected by simple random sampling technique. Data collected were analyzed using frequency counts and simple percentages. The results showed that facilities are fairly available and there is moderate extent of usage of the available facilities for incorporating blended learning strategy. Lecturers used 21 different methods, the five blended learning perspectives, and four different strategies. Various challenges were identified. The study concluded that opportunities were available for lecturers to implement blended learning strategy into the classroom instruction delivery if the major challenges faced are properly addressed.
