Digital image processing, which ensues in many sides of life, is one of the areas that requires rapid development and improvement of existing algorithms, both for accuracy and completeness, and for reasons of speed and cost-effectiveness of both technical and software solutions. Medical application itself is the area where both precision in processing is important, as insufficient information affects the treatment protocol, and the cost for availability and widespread use. In this research, an algorithm for segmentation of digital MRI images of the brain is proposed in order to isolate the segment that contains the tumor. This algorithm is based on the sequential execution of the following steps: threshold Otsu’s method of binarization of the image, selection of brain and tumor tissues by morphological operations, segmentation by marked watershed, removal of the skull line and selection of the segment containing the tumor by an erosion. The verification did not reveal false-positive segmentation results, and the percentage of images correctly segmented to detect the tumor was 96.2%. It should be noted the high speed of the segmentation process obtained by the authors.

Speed and accuracy of protein synthesis are fundamental parameters for the fitness of living cells, the quality control of translation, and the evolution of ribosomes. The ribosome developed complex mechanisms that allow for a uniform recognition and selection of any cognate aminoacyl-tRNA (aa-tRNA) and discrimination against any near-cognate aa-tRNA, regardless of the nature or position of the mismatch. This review describes the principles of the selection—kinetic partitioning and induced fit—and discusses the relationship between speed and accuracy of decoding, with a focus on bacterial translation. The translational machinery apparently has evolved towards high speed of translation at the cost of fidelity.

Most quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols can be classified as either a discrete-variable (DV) protocol or continuous-variable (CV) protocol, based on how classical information is being encoded. We propose a protocol that combines the best of both worlds – the simplicity of quantum state preparation in DV-QKD together with the cost-effective and high-bandwidth of homodyne detectors used in CV-QKD. Our proposed protocol has two highly practical features: (1) it does not require the honest parties to share the same reference phase (as required in CV-QKD) and (2) the selection of decoding basis can be performed after measurement. We also prove the security of the proposed protocol in the asymptotic limit under the assumption of collective attacks. Our simulation suggests that the protocol is suitable for secure and high-speed practical key distribution over metropolitan distances.

With the rapid development of China's high-speed railway (HSR), there are also many problems. For example, in the classification and calculation of HSR transportation costs, there is a lack of reasonable cost statistical methods. There are many types of high-speed train currently running on HSR (mainly G and D trains). There are differences in the speed, load and energy consumption of different types of trains. The resulting infrastructure usage costs also vary. However, all train costs are classified and calculated uniformly in practice. This paper proposes the expenditure rate method of the transport process allocating the infrastructure use costs among types of trains. Based on data from the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, the cost of infrastructure is calculated, and the calculation results can reasonably reflect the cost allocation among types of trains. It makes the cost calculation of high-speed railway more accurate and lays a foundation for environmental cost calculation.

To combat severe acute respiratory syndrome–related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and any unknown emerging pathogens in the future, the development of a rapid and effective method to generate high-affinity antibodies or antibody-like proteins is of critical importance. We here report high-speed in vitro selection of multiple high-affinity antibody-like proteins against various targets including the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The sequences of monobodies against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein were successfully procured within only 4 days. Furthermore, the obtained monobody efficiently captured SARS-CoV-2 particles from the nasal swab samples of patients and exhibited a high neutralizing activity against SARS-CoV-2 infection (half-maximal inhibitory concentration, 0.5 nanomolar). High-speed in vitro selection of antibody-like proteins is a promising method for rapid development of a detection method for, and of a neutralizing protein against, a virus responsible for an ongoing, and possibly a future, pandemic.

Due to the rapid development of high-speed railways, there is an extensive need for the condition monitoring of the stability of vehicles. Considering the weakness of the current alarm standards, a new index is introduced for describing the periodicity of the state variable series in the nonlinear dynamics system, and a new guideline – based on the proportion distribution of the index – is proposed for detecting the hunting and for evaluating the stability performance in both the space and time domains. Then, the selection of algorithm parameters is conducted and the generalization ability is validated; a number of simulations and tests are applied to further verify its effectiveness. The advantages of this new method, such as an accurate alarm for hunting motions, evaluation of vehicle dynamics, robustness and feasibility of the real time application, are highlighted. This method can further contribute to the prognostic and health management of railway vehicles through early warning and condition assessment.

Abstract. One of the advances in information technology that now has changed the outlook and human life, business process and business strategy of an institution is the internet. The internet is a very large networks that connected to computers and serves throughout the world in one centralized network. With the internet we can access data and information anytime and anywhere.    As one provider of high-speed data communications services and the pioneer of the internet network service provider in Indonesia that provides integrated services, as well as one of the pioneer development of internet services that provide extensive services in the building and apply it throughout Indonesia. Indosat ready to seize opportunities for sustainable growth of business spectrum are still sprawling Indonesia.    Therefore, Indosat continues to focus on the development of increased efforts to provide the best service for customers of Indosat. Indosat will continue to develop and expand network coverage and a larger investment that the company will achieve excellence in the field of integrated telecommunications services.    Ranking by region of the IP Providers can be seen by grouping IP Providers, and management over IP Providers prefer to choose providers based on where it orginates as an example for the region of the U.S if it will be preferred providers that come from U.S. providers. With the commencement of the internet network optimization start early in 2008 with the selection of the appropriate IP Upstream Provider criteria, it is up to date according to data obtained from Indosat, seen any significant changes to the cost of purchasing capacity of the IP Upstream.    Based on the data obtained that until Q3 or September 2008, the number of IP Upstream Providers that previously there were 20 to 10 IP Upstream Provider, IP Transit Price total decrease of 11% to the price of IP Transit Price / Mbps there is a decrease of 78%, while from the capacity bandwith an increase of 301% capacity from 2008.

The rapid development of information and technology, the city of Bandung tourism has also increased. However, tourists who visit the city of Bandung have problems with a limited time when visiting Bandung tourist attractions. Traffic congestion, distance, and the number of tourist destinations are the problems for tourists travel. The optimal route selection is the solution for those problems. Congestion and distance data are processed using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. Route selection uses the Floyd-Warshall Algorithm. In this study, the selection of the best route gets the smallest weight with a value of 5.127 from the Algorithm process. Based on testing, from two to five tourist attractions get an average calculation time of 3 to 5 seconds. This application is expected to provide optimal solutions for tourists in the selection of tourist travel routes.
