The article considers the place of anxiety in the journalist's integral personality structure. Due to the difficulties and stress context of the journalist's profession with deadlines, permanent urgency and sometimes even life dangerous anxiety may rise and its place in integral personality structure has not researched yet. More often, we may find publications about post-traumatic stress disorder syndrome among journalists than researches dedicated to anxiety, especially to its connections with other psychological properties and traits. Our purpose is to find the place of anxiety in the journalist's integral personality structure. Reaching of purpose is reflected in the following tasks. The first task is establishing connections of anxiety with other individual psychological properties, the second, identifying predictors of anxiety and statistically prove their impact on the anxiety development, the third, establishing the links between anxiety and an integral characteristic of the individual which is professional self-esteem. The methods of this research are psychodiagnostic tests such as Structure of Temperament Questionnaire by Rusalov, Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire, Personality Value Orientations Questionnaire by Bubnova etc. The results of our research show anxiety has many links to temperament, psychological traits, and even values. Some of them are positive (emotionality, social emotionality, vigilance, tension, values of rest and respect), others are negative (ergic, plasticity, emotional stability, dominance, social boldness, perfectionism). Moreover, anxiety has causal relationships with other properties of psychological level (emotional stability, dominance, social boldness etc.). The influence of anxiety on personality was shown with an inverse statistically significant correlation between anxiety and professional self-esteem, which is an integral characteristic of individuality. This result reflects a need for socio-psychological or soft skills training that helps journalists to improve their professional self-esteem and to reduce the level of anxiety.

The article deals with psychological and pedagogical aspects of the formation of professional self-esteem of future teachers. The value of the reflexive level in professional activity is analyzed. Psychological and pedagogical aspects and main approaches to the formation of professional self-assessment of future specialists are defined. The main stages of formation of reflection and professional assessment in the course of pedagogical practice are considered. An alternative system for organizing teacher training based on the reflexive-humanistic model of teacher education is proposed. The purposeful formation of the reflexive component of students 'practical activity allowed us to significantly adjust the professional and value orientations and the" I-concept " of students

ObjectiveHaving a visual impairment is known to be associated with an increased vulnerability to (potentially) traumatic events. Little is known about how people with visual impairment experience and process such events. This qualitative study aimed to provide more insight into experiences with traumatic events, consequences of traumatic events and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)-related care among people with visual impairment and PTSD.MethodsEighteen persons with visual impairment and (a history of) PTSD were interviewed. Among them were 14 women and 4 men aged between 23 and 66 years. Recruitment of participants was done through health professionals from two low-vision service centres and a patient association for people with eye diseases and visual impairment in The Netherlands. Interviews focused on experiences with (1) traumatic events, (2) consequences of traumatic events and (3) PTSD-related care. Thematic content analysis of interview data was performed using ATLAS.ti. The COnsolidated criteria for REporting Qualitative research (COREQ) checklist was used to check for completeness and transparency of the study. Data were collected between 2018 and 2020.ResultsThe most commonly reported traumatic events were sexual and physical abuse. Many participants experienced that their impairment had negatively affected their acceptance by others, independence and self-esteem, increasing their vulnerability for traumatic events. Additionally, having a visual impairment negatively impacted participants’ ability to respond to situations and aggravated post-traumatic stress reactions. Existing treatments seem suitable for people with visual impairment when accommodated to the impairment.ConclusionsHaving a visual impairment may affect traumatic events and post-traumatic stress reactions, particularly by contributing to low self-esteem, problems in social interactions and a lack of visual information. Insights from this study provide starting points for adapting pretraumatic and post-traumatic care to the needs of people with visual impairment.

Abstract Purpose Sense of coherence (SOC) represents coping and can be considered an essential component of mental health. SOC correlates with mental health and personality, but the background of these associations is poorly understood. We analyzed the role of genetic factors behind the associations of SOC with mental health, self-esteem and personality using genetic twin modeling and polygenic scores (PGS). Methods Information on SOC (13-item Orientation of Life Questionnaire), four mental health indicators, self-esteem and personality (NEO Five Factor Inventory Questionnaire) was collected from 1295 Finnish twins at 20–27 years of age. Results In men and women, SOC correlated negatively with depression, alexithymia, schizotypal personality and overall mental health problems and positively with self-esteem. For personality factors, neuroticism was associated with weaker SOC and extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness with stronger SOC. All these psychological traits were influenced by genetic factors with heritability estimates ranging from 19 to 66%. Genetic and environmental factors explained these associations, but the genetic correlations were generally stronger. The PGS of major depressive disorder was associated with weaker, and the PGS of general risk tolerance with stronger SOC in men, whereas in women the PGS of subjective well-being was associated with stronger SOC and the PGSs of depression and neuroticism with weaker SOC. Conclusion Our results indicate that a substantial proportion of genetic variation in SOC is shared with mental health, self-esteem and personality indicators. This suggests that the correlations between these traits reflect a common neurobiological background rather than merely the influence of external stressors.

The past decade has seen rapid growth in research linking stable psychological characteristics (i.e., traits) to digital records of online behavior in Online Social Networks (OSNs) like Facebook and Twitter, which has implications for basic and applied behavioral sciences. Findings indicate that a broad range of psychological characteristics can be predicted from various behavioral residue online, including language used in posts on Facebook (Park et al., 2015) and Twitter (Reece et al., 2017), and which pages a person ‘likes’ on Facebook (e.g., Kosinski, Stillwell, & Graepel, 2013). The present study examined the extent to which the accounts a user follows on Twitter can be used to predict individual differences in self-reported anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and anger. Followed accounts on Twitter offer distinct theoretical and practical advantages for researchers; they are potentially less subject to overt impression management and may better capture passive users. Using an approach designed to minimize overfitting and provide unbiased estimates of predictive accuracy, our results indicate that each of the four constructs can be predicted with modest accuracy (out-of-sample R’s of approximately .2). Exploratory analyses revealed that anger, but not the other constructs, was distinctly reflected in followed accounts, and there was some indication of bias in predictions for women (vs. men) but not for racial/ethnic minorities (vs. majorities). We discuss our results in light of theories linking psychological traits to behavior online, applications seeking to infer psychological characteristics from records of online behavior, and ethical issues such as algorithmic bias and users’ privacy.

The article arguesin favor of the formation of communicative competence in students of technical universities. In the competitive struggle for jobs, the candidate who hasthe skills of business communicationskills, professional self-presentation,and confident self-control, wins. Consequently, it is an important task of any technical university to form communicative competence in students while teaching humanities. This study treats communicative competenceas an indispensable skill and, therefore, holds the problem of teaching it urgent. Communicative competence is considered as the ability to effectively interact in a work team, to take into account personal psychological traits and cultural background of the partner in communication, to use business etiquette, conflict management and fruitful interaction in the framework of cooperation. The development of all these skills is placed into the educational process of technical universities as communicative competence is required by in the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education. The participants of this communicative competencestudy wereemploying companies fromVolgograd, Russia (AlterStroy LLC, Alternativa LLC, Elast Plus LLC, PartnerService LLC, Artemis Don LLC, Etalon MK LLC, Beton LLC, Business ResheniyeLLC) and senior students of the Volgograd State Technical University. The total number of survey participants was 109. Master's Degree students of the Volgograd State Technical University V.Bondareva and I.Diulina developed and statistically processed the questionnaire. It was found that both the employers and the students consider the communicative skills, the ability to accurately and clearly express ideas, good manners, and the knowledge of verbal and non-verbal communication pave the path to success in the professional sphere.

AbstractThe prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms in children and adolescents requires school psychologists and counsellors to be informed of evidence-based elements of interventions through which they can tailor their treatment to the individual in a school context. This meta-analysis identified common practice elements within evidence-based trauma interventions for schools. A small to medium effect size was identified in the 10 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) included in this meta-analysis. Within these RCTs, 31 common practice elements were identified, with social skills training, coping skills training, relaxation techniques, psychoeducation, mind-body techniques, group work and creative-expressive techniques correlating with the most effective outcomes. The findings suggest that common practice elements exist across multiple school-based trauma interventions of varying modalities.

Higher education is one of the conditions of independent life for disabled people, a condition of their social and labor rehabilitation. Health problems are not the only serious obstacles to vocational education. No less important are the barriers in the educational environment of the University and barriers in relationships with others. It is noted that most of the difficulties in the learning process of students with disabilities are associated with their psychological characteristics - the presence of negative experiences and attitudes, the level of self-esteem, the features of life orientations. Depending on the severity of psychological characteristics, different variants of the relationship of students with disabilities with other students are possible: from full integration to disintegration and opposition behavior. It was suggested that the nature of the relationship and especially value-semantic readiness for vocational education in higher inclusive education can largely determine the prospects of personal and professional development of students with disabilities. An empirical study of peculiarities of value orientations of students with disabilities (N = 50) and students without disabilities (N = 50) was conducted using the technique of G. N. Kuznetsova on the General self-identity, self-esteem scale of Rosenberg and test of life-meaningful orientations D. A. Leontiev.

This study examined substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health (MH) among survivors of intimate partner violence, with data collected from 102 participants. Both survivors and service providers emphasized SUD and MH as top priorities and reported a high prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem coupled with increasing rates of heroin, methamphetamine, and pharmaceutical abuse. Emergent themes included (a) trauma impacts functioning, (b) substances as coping strategy, (c) weighing safety against need, (d) lacking SUD and MH services, and (e) need for comprehensive and culturally specific resources. Scarcity of funding demands cross-sector collaboration to support survivors.
