Objective: to study teratogenic effect – the long-term pregnant mother-taken antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) related consequences on paired child mental, social and intellectual development.Material and methods. There were enrolled 80 subjects: 40 children aged 3–9 years and paired mothers suffering from epilepsy for 3 to 35 years. Thirteen and 27 patients had generalized and focal epilepsy, respectively. Seven mothers were in prolonged remission without taking AEDs, 23 were on monotherapy and 10 were on polytherapy. Child research methods: T. Achenbach's clinical CBCL (The Child Behavior Checklist) scales (for children aged under 5 and 6–18 years), a questionnaire for detecting attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other behavioral disorders modified by N.N. Zavadenko, Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), Luria batteries of neuropsychological tests adapted by J.M. Glozman (for children aged 3–6 and 7–12 years).Results. Neuropsychological study and assessment of intelligence revealed problems in the development of praxis, speech, gnostic functions and memory, as well as disproportion in the development of verbal and non-verbal structures of intelligence. The most common behavioral disorders in children were impulsivity, distraction, difficulties in controlling and organizing movements. The most affected spheres were praxis (motor awkwardness, fine motor disorders of the hands) and speech.Conclusion. The proposed hypothesis that the teratogenic effect of taking AEDs may result in unevenness or delay in developing mental functions in a child was confirmed.

This study has been conducted with the objective of evaluating the role of parenting styles in prediction of behavioral disorders in children with Learning Disability (LD). This study is a descriptive work conducted using correlation methods in kind of prediction model and statistical population in this study consists of children with learning disability (LD) referring to Educational and Rehabilitation Centers for Specific Learning Disorders of Tehran during academic year 2014-15. Using purposeful and voluntary sampling method, 130 people were selected as sample size. Data collection instrument in this study includes Bumerind parenting style questionnaire and Child Behavior Checklist for ages 6-18 Achenbach system of empirically based assessment (CBCL). Data analysis was done using Pearson correlation and multivariate regression using SPSS. The results obtained from the study showed that there is no significant correlation between authoritarian and authoritative parenting style and any components of behavioral disorders of LD children and only permissive parenting style has negative and significant correlation with externalized disorders of LD children.

Low Born Weigh (LBW) is a baby with a birth weight <2500 grams. LBW babies are weak in fine motor skills. If toddlers' developmental disorders are not detected early it will affect the quality of life, showed the prevalence of LBW by 5.52%. The prevalence of LBW infants in Bantul Regency from 2014 to 2018 has increased. The highest LBW cases were in the Pleret Puskesmas which reached 6.23%. The high prevalence of LBW in Pleret District has made researchers interested in researching the relationship of LBW history with the development of toddlers aged 1-3 years. The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of LBW history on the development of toddlers aged 1-3 years. This type of research is an observational analytic study with a retrospective cohort design. The sample in this study is toddlers aged 1-3 years in the district of Pleret. The independent variables of this study were the birth weight of infants and the dependent variable of development of infants aged 1-3 years. Statistical tests use the Chi-square test and relative risk. This research shows that as many as 31% of children under five with a history of LBW had inappropriate development status. The chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.016 (<0.05) which meant that there was a significant relationship between LBW history and the developmental status of toddlers. Obtained RR value of 1,250 (> 1,00), shows that toddlers with a history of LBW have a risk of experiencing developmental disorders 1.25 times greater than toddlers with normal weight history. The conclusion of this research is a there is a significant relationship between LBW history and the development of toddlers aged 1-3 years. Toddlers with an LBW history have a greater risk of developing developmental disorders compared to toddlers with normal weight history.

This study aimed to evaluate the stress levels of caregivers and children with developmental disorders who were receiving rehabilitation treatment. The relationships between stress levels and factors such as early rehabilitation and home rehabilitation were quantified. Methods: This study was conducted in children with development disorders, aged from 1.5 years to 18 years, who were undergoing rehabilitation. The Korean version of the Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL) and the Adult Self-Report (K-ASR) were used to evaluate stress levels in children and caregivers, respectively. Results: Questionnaires were provided to 150 caregivers who agreed to participate. However, only 76 copies of the K-CBCL and 75 copies of the K-ASR were collected. The mean K-CBCL and K-ASR t scores were in the normal range. The K-CBCL score correlated positively with the K-ASR score (p value < 0.5). K-CBCL externalizing problems score correlated positively with the age at the start of rehabilitation, and the K-CBCL and K-ASR externalizing problems scores correlated negatively with home treatment delivered by caregivers. Conclusions: Stress levels of children and caregivers were closely related. Home rehabilitation provided by caregivers reduced stress in both caregivers and children. Early rehabilitation did not impart additional psychological burden on caregivers or children.

Abstract Introduction Gifted (G) children display an asynchrony between intellectual development and social and emotional development. Twice exceptional (2e) children are G children with a neuropsychological disability. We compared the sleep and daytime behavior of G, 2e and typically developing (TD) children and we sought for group-specific relationships between sleep and daytime behavior. Methods 23 children were recruited: seven G (8.7 years old, SD = 1.7), six 2e (9.8 years old, SD = 1.8) and 10 TD children (10.0 years old, SD = 2.2). Giftedness was diagnosed with neuropsychological tools. The Children’s Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ) assessed sleep quality, the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) assessed daytime functioning. Sleep quality and its impact on daytime functioning was measured with a MANCOVA, with the CBCL’s three main factors as dependent variables (internalizing problems, IP; externalizing problems, EP and total problems, TP), children group as the independent variable and the CSHQ total score as the covariate. Results G, 2e and TD groups scored 39.86, 39.17 and 39.70 on the CSHQ, respectively (n.s.). The three groups were not different on the CBCL, with respective mean T scores of 57.86, 50.33 and 48.60 for IP, 56.43, 55.67 and 47.80 for EP and 55.29, 53.83 and 46.40 for TP. Pillai’s trace statistics disclosed a significant relationship between CSHQ and CBCL scores regardless of groups (p = 0.04) but the influence of sleep quality did not differ among the groups for any of the three factors. The CSHQ total score was positively and significantly related to IP (p = 0.03, r = 0.47); relationships were not significant for EP (p = 0.96, r = -0.01) and TP (p = 0.17, r = 0.31). Conclusion Sleep quality influences internalizing problems in children, without group-specific relationships, but this association does not seem to differ between gifted, twice exceptional and TD children. AbstractThe long-term consequences of transient neonatal hypoglycemia are sparsely studied. We performed a follow-up of a cohort of neonates with blood glucose recordings < 1.7 mmol/L (< 30 mg/dL), treated with > 2.5 mmol/L (> 45 mg/dL), compared with healthy siblings. Exclusion criteria were gestational age < 35 weeks, severe asphyxia, head injury, and other cerebral diseases. In 71 children with neonatal hypoglycemia and 32 control siblings, Wechsler IV cognitive test, Movement ABC-2 test, and Child Behavior Checklist were performed at mean age 7.75 and 9.17 years, respectively. No significant changes were detected for cognitive function by using Wechsler IV or for behavior by using Child Behavior Checklist. In univariate analysis, the hypoglycemia group had lower age-adjusted fine motor scores by using the Movement ABC-2 test compared with control siblings, 42.6 ± 31.2 vs. 57.2 ± 30.8 percentile (p = 0.03). In the sibling-paired analysis, the decrease in total motor score was highly significant, p = 0.009, driven by a decrease in fine motor score, p = 0.008. In the hypoglycemia group, adjusted analysis showed a lower fine motor function for boys, β = − 16.4, p = 0.048.Conclusion: Neonatal hypoglycemia treated with > 2.5 mmol/L was associated with lower fine motor scores within the normal range, particularly in boys. No associations with cognitive function or behavior were detected. What is Known:• Transient neonatal hypoglycemia is associated with acute neurologic dysfunction and long-term neurodevelopment impairment in 18 months of age. What is New:• Neonatal hypoglycemia treated with > 2.5 mmol/L is associated with lower fine motor function within the normal range, particularly in boys, but not to changes in cognitive function or behavior.

Background Disasters, including earthquakes, may strike abruptly without warning. Children may develop psychological damage resulting from experiencing an overwhelmingly traumatic event. They may feel very frightened during a disaster and demonstrate emotional and behavioral problems afterwards.Objective To evaluate the presence of developmental disorders, behavioral disorders, and depression in children after the earthquake at Padang and Pariaman on September 30th, 2009.Methods This was a cross􀁘sectional study using the developmental pre screening questionnaire (KPSP), Pediatric Symptoms Checklist-17 (PSC-17), and Child Depression Inventory (CDI) in children after the Padang and Pariaman earthquake (September 30th, 2009), in Sungai Limau and Sungai Geringging District, Pariaman Region, West Sumatera. Our study was conducted October 15th to November 28th, 2009.Results There were 172 children screened using the KPSP. Forty-two (25%) children scored 7􀁘8 (reason for concern), 18 (10%) children scored <7 (suspected to have a developmental disorder), and the remainder scored as developmentally appropriate. Behavioral disorder screening was perfonned in 339 children using the PSC􀁘 17. Internalizing disorder alone was suspected in 58 (17%) children, externalizing disorder alone in 26 (7.7%), and attention􀁘defidt disorder alone in 5 (1.5%). Eight (2.4%) children were suspected to have both internalizing and attention􀁘defidt disorders, 4 (1.2%) children externalizing and attention􀁘defidt disorders, 22 (6.5%) children internalizing and externalizing disorders, and 15 (4.4%) children all three disorders. From 4 9 children who underwent depression screening using CDI, 15(30.6%) children were suspected to have depression. Conclusion After the Padang and Pariaman earthquake, we found 10% of subjects screened were suspected of having a developmental disorder. The most connnonbehavioral disorder found was internalizing disorder. Possible depression was found in 30.6% of children surveyed. Traumatized children are at risk for developing post traumatic stress disorder. 2011;5' :133-7].

This imperfect development received the attention of experts in the fields of language, health, and education, as well as other experts. At present the problem of gifted children is diagnosed with various behavioral disorders, mental disorders, and developmental disorders, so that for the needs of care, guidance, and education for him gifted children should be detected early so that guidance can be given according to their needs. Khalid, a 6-year-old child has gifted characteristics. Khalid's curiosity was so high that he did not take into account the risks of getting answers from his curiosity. When you want something Khalid wants to impose the will, so that the goal is achieved. Khalid is indicated to experience behavioral disorders, mental disorders and is very fond of toy collections. Khalid's parents must be observant and understand the development of their children, because despite having behavioral, mental disorders and fans of toy collections, Khalid actually has an advantage that is very beneficial for his future such as a very strong desire to do and realize things and have curiosity very high against any phenomenon that interests him. <p><strong><em>Background:</em></strong><em> Stimulation is a very important requirement for growth and development. Lack of stimulation can cause developmental disorders such as speech, language, and disorders of gross motor and fine motor, even developmental disorders that persist. </em><strong><em>Purpose:</em></strong><em> The study aims to determine the implementation of family psychosocial stimulation of children aged 48 - 60 months in PAUD Pertiwi Kota Metro. <strong>Method</strong></em><strong><em>s</em></strong><strong><em>:</em></strong><em> The design of this study is descriptive to describe the implementation of parents doing psychosocial stimulation of their children. The population in this study were all group A students aged 48 - 60 years in PAUD Pertiwi Kota Metro with a sample of 59 people. The instrument used in this study was a home inventory questionnaire for family psychosocial stimulation variables. Data collected was carried out by univariate analysis to describe family psychosocial stimulation. with a frequency distribution table. <strong>Results:</strong> The study showed that family psychosocial stimulation carried out by parents in children aged 48-60 years in PAUD Pertiwi Kota Metro contained 55.9% good categories, 42.4 adequate categories and only 1.7% less categories. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> Psychosocial stimulation by the family towards children has a tendency to be good, but there is still something lacking and sufficient. There is a need for socialization efforts to parents the importance of stimulation of child development.</em></p>
