The article discusses the relevance of modern play spaces to the tasks of the mental and physical child development, as well as modern approaches to the examination of children's outdoor play environment. A historical analysis of changes in domestic and foreign theories about ideas - what kind of playground children need, also empirical studies of child behavior at different play environment allow us to highlight the main lines of psychological and pedagogical analysis of play spaces. New standards in the field of education and development, as well as in designing educational environment, the request of teachers and designers (architects, engineers) makes relevant to work out the methodological support of the creation of play environment. Interdisciplinary approach and dialogue in this area will allow us to solve the problem of designing such play environment that meets the tasks of the child development.

The article considers the issue of partnership and support to parents in the modern educational environment. It has been proved that there is an importance of increasing the parents’ psychological awareness on the issue of the child education and development through innovative interactive technologies, which will allow to consider demands of parents, promote formation of the active parental position, provide recognition of their experience in educating their own children and support in searching ways to build a positive interaction. The stages of the cooperation with parents through interactive technologies are highlighted: the teachers in order to introduce interactive technologies working with parents and the parents training. Based on five-year experience in this area, effective recommendations to build positive interaction between teachers and parents have been defined. Combining of the teacher’s professional competence in the child development technologies with the parents experience on the individual peculiarities and demands of their children provides the epitomy of a positive interaction and an adult communication for being followed up by children.

The ‘more, faster, better’ rule accompanies a modern child from the earliest stage of their life. Recently research on child development has become increasingly important and taken on a new dimension. Its significance lies in the capacity to provide important information about core values in child life. It also offers new development opportunities for educational environment for individuals, groups and institutions, working in the field of pedagogy, treating childhood as a common good which needs protection from increasing pressure of time and detrimental effects of acceleration civilisation.

Setswana proverbs point to the rich oral history of the Batswana people, their cosmology, morality, indigenous knowledge system, rituals, drama, sayings and memo scripts which are deeply embedded in memory. They emerged from reflections on existential experiences and animal behaviour. In her analysis of Proverbs 31:10�31 found in the Hebrew text, Masenya rereads this text in conjugation with her Northern Sotho proverbs regarding women from a bosadi [womanhood] approach. It is in this approach that she attempts to engage structures of �patriarchy� and the marginalisation of women�s identities. In so doing, the approach grapples with issues such as the mythological thinking of male dominance, cultural subjugation, gender equality, political marginalisation and economic transaction. The decolonial turn as a theoretical framework acknowledges the particularity and universality of cultures and knowledge. Whilst there is particularity among African cultures, there is also universality. In this article I will refer to Setswana proverbs in the context of marriage to engage the bosadi approach. It is the intention of this article to argue that proverbs such as lebitla la mosadi ke bogadi need to be contextualised within their historical location as well as within the context of the institution of lenyalo that is anchored in the practice of bogadi. Furthermore, there is a need to critically engage with terms such as patriarchy, oppression, structure and hierarchy. The paper will use the decolonial turn as a theoretical framework. A conclusion will be drawn from the discussion above.Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: This article has an interdisciplinary approach, it touches on Historical analysis of Setswana Proverbs, the missionary era and the transition between �Setswana traditional� worldview and �Euro-Christian� worldview. Furthermore, it pertains to the understanding of the Proverbs within the custom of Lenyalo (marriage), boarders between anthropological, sociological and African philosophy approaches. The fundamental theoretical approaches used in this article is translational theory and decolonial turn, which is social sciences.

Intellectual virtues are characteristics that motivate individuals to pursue knowledge and understanding. They support the intellectual flourishing of the individual and consequently of society writ large. Scholars are only beginning to examine how these virtues are developed. An interdisciplinary approach that bridges philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and education research is needed to add empirical grounding to philosophical conceptions of intellectual virtues and to provide recommendations for educators to advance these virtues. Schools arguably have a vital role to play in the development of the intellectual virtues. Colleges and universities embrace several core aims, among them fostering the individual flourishing of their students and the broader public good. Interpreted through a philosophical lens, achieving these aims invokes intellectual virtues. Two intellectual virtues—intellectual autonomy and intellectual fairness—are particularly salient for emerging adults in the higher education context. Empirical research has the potential to shed light on how these virtues are developed and what educators can do to better promote them. Although empirical studies suggest that emerging adults in college may be developmentally primed for the virtues of intellectual autonomy and intellectual fairness, many emerging adults do not leave college reliably demonstrating these virtues. Colleges and universities can do more to support their development by (a) providing students with challenging situations and supportive conditions, (b) creating opportunities for self-directed learning and intellectual risk-taking, and (c) raising awareness of cognitive limitations that undermine fairness.

Purpose This paper aims to explore what social enterprises (SEs) in the UK know and how they acquire, convert, apply and protect this knowledge. This will enable them to manage their knowledge effectively and, hence, improve their practices and maximise the creation of social, environmental and economic value. Design/methodology/approach This study follows a qualitative approach, comprising 21 interviews with founders and senior members of SEs in the UK. Findings The results show that the investigated SEs have knowledge management (KM) practices similar to the already identified in SMEs, associated with informality, reliance on external sources and focus on socialisation activities, but they have unique challenges on managing their knowledge related to their hybrid mission, to include social and economic objectives and their closed relationship with stakeholders. Research limitations/implications As there is limited research on KM practices in SEs; they were defined based on previous studies in large, private and public companies. Therefore, not all practices may be included. This research is a starting point in the study of KM in SEs. Practical implications This study identifies knowledge activities that enable the creation of social, environmental and economic value in SEs. This allows SEs, small firms and non-profit organisations to review their current practices and develop plans for their further improvement. Originality/value This paper is one of the first empirical studies exploring KM practices in SEs, highlighting their informal nature as well as their impact in and on the enterprise.

AbstractThe State Child Development Centre (SCDC) of Western Australia has been involved in the assessment and management of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorders over the past twenty years. It is a Centre committed to the multimodal interdisciplinary approach to this and related developmental problems. Incorporated in this approach is the recognition that medication is likely to be an essential component in order to facilitate other measures being effective for a majority of children with well established attentional disorders. However, the Centre recognises that the concept of ADHD is not adequate to explain all the developmental problems of children, An alternative conceptualisation of ADHD as multiple stimuli disorganisation syndrome (MSDS) is proposed.

Preparing Children for School: The Perspective of SustainabilityThis study analyses different aspects of upbringing and development concerned with preparing pre-school children for school. The focus is on justifying child development within the pre-school educational environment with elements of sustainability in order to better prepare students for school. Education in pre-school environments should be seen as a synergy of the affective and cognitive spheres of children. The authors refer primarily to the significant contribution provided in the sphere of pre-school education by different Russian psychologists and educators. The results of this study indicate that if the pre-school curriculum includes elements of sustainability, the process of preparing children for school is more effective and children may possibly be more successful at school.

The article is devoted to the creation of a functional model of stress as a tool for study of the human stress response. The mechanisms of the emergence and further development of emotional stress are described. Criterion of distinguishing between adaptive and maladaptive stress is formulated. Personal characteristics, determining a person's willingness to experience maladaptive stress are highlighted. System model that allows to solve the problems of theoretical and empirical studies of stress is proposed.

The relevance of studying the process of child’s growing up is due to a number of contradictions; on the one hand, children’s space of activities is changing, he/she develops in paradoxical, contradictory conditions, on the other hand, growing children do not show an active desire to grow up, sometimes imitate disharmonious forms of behaviour. The purpose of the study is, firstly, to describe the range of domestic and foreign works related to both childhood and adulthood on the background of changing socio-cultural practices, secondly, to isolate the existing manifestations of the problems, identifying the main contradictions caused by changes in the process of growing up, and thirdly, to attempt to develop conceptual provisions of psychological and pedagogical analysis of growing up in modern educational organization. We consider the growing up of a modern child in the educational environment as a process of constant changes in the structure of his/her subjective and objective characteristics, including the formation of child’s image of adulthood in ontogenesis, its development and implementation, as well as the reflection of development of adulthood by children in the psychological and pedagogical space by the participants of educational process (parents, teachers).
